Just another thought:  Can you use equip/use your "powers" (like Voice of the Emperor for an Imperial) if your hands are bound?  Might be an easier way to cause damage if you can find a guard that can arrest you.  If you can't, chances are that you can't use dragon shouts either even if you can somehow get them.
I'm fairly sure you can't equip your powers: I haven't found a way to enter your magic menu with your hands bound (yet).

WOW.
I am currently in the process of optimizing Caelint's route for a single-segment run. Here are some of my observations and ideas:

Route

- The route in the SS run will most likely take 10 - 20 longer than a segmented run.
- Taking paths will be faster as jumping is not needed and I will be able to use the torch-running glitch effectively (see below).
- After escaping Helgen, I will run to Embershard Mine and get a torch or two so I can use the torch-running glich.
- Most of the route will be the same as the current segmented run.

Torch-running

I'm sure we have talked about this in the past, but torch-running is a glitch in the game where you can aquire unlimited sprint by tapping the sprint button whilst you have a sword and a torch equipped (sword must be sheathed). This is helpful mostly on console as load times for waiting are longer.

Gold

The vendor glitch is not really needed, you can get enough gold for travelling and such by selling weapons you pick up in Helgen Keep. You can then get an extra 50 - 90 gold in Esbern's room and another 50 or so at the entrance to Sky Haven Temple.

Possible Skips

I have found a way to get into Sky Haven Temple early, though Delphine and Esbern don't spawn in with you. I was wondering, could this exploit be used further along the story, skipping the whole first half of the storyline?

I will add more ideas when I can think of them.

Ilseroth is doing some really good SS PC runs at the moment, almost beating the current segmented time. You should check him out when he's online.

http://www.twitch.tv/ilseroth/

Current SS record is now 1:18:08 - here is what has come up:

- Platters are said to be better than bowls (I would contest this, but hey, i'm on console :P).
- You don't have to talk to Delphine after recovering the docs from the embassy.
- High Elf may not be the best race to use, Khajiit may be better.
- Peace council is annoying.
- I'm sure there are a few small things I have missed.
- Alduin may have a pattern in the last battle.

As for current attempts, we could get sub-1:15 easy, dare I even say sub-1:12 with optimization and some luck?
Khajiit do a base of +15 damage unarmed, but compare how long is spent in battles to how long is spent running. Maximum run speed is still crucial I think, but hey, I could be wrong. I just don't think you can give up even a .08 increase in speed in order to save time in like 5 total minutes of battles...

Not to mention the fact that in the last battle you have people doing most of the work for you. The new SS run was done with a Khajiit so I don't know how much faster it would be.

Also, on a passing note, the title of this post made me chuckle: http://zoknowsgaming.com/2011/10/16/elder-scrolls-skyrim-beaten-2-hours-game/

I am going to finally try and do a few full console runs tonight, might stream them if I can get my dazzle to work!

Edit: Ilseroth just got 1:14:53 single-segment! Link coming...

Here's that link, I think - http://www.twitch.tv/ilseroth/b/310825976

Something worth noting on Khajit - that's +25 damage unarmed, not +15. He picks up the Gloves of the Pugilist in Riften, +10 unarmed. He just owns Tsun. I think that +25 makes a huge difference at level 1.
Well, not exactly usernameguy. All characters have a base unarmed strength of ten, to which the khajiit's add either 12 or 15, online sources seem contradictory. So picking a Khajiit only adds +15 tops to your unarmed, although the pugilist gloves are quite nice.
Sorry, yeah, that's what I meant -  10 base, +12/15 for Khajit, +10 for the gloves, for +22/25, 32/35 dam total, unarmed. I think? Right?

However the math actually works out - he OWNED Tsun, and did pretty danged well against Alduin both times. Seems like a smart strategy to me.

I'm gonna have to test Tsun with a High Elf to see if there is any significent difference. Also, the new SS time might me mentioned on this week's episode of Sunday Sequence reak so it should be funny to see what they say.

Just to clarify, his timer starts after the intro, and my 1:16:24 is in game time which includes it. So if you want to compare them you need to subtract 7:56 from my time. With Ilseroth's timing my run is 1:08:28. Nevertheless 1:14:53 is a great achievement in SS, and by no means I am trying to make it look bad or anything. What I'm trying to say is that we should use the same timing method, and the in game timer seems more convenient for now, as we can't avoid including the loading times anyway without manually timing everything, which would be a pain, and should only be done on a submit candidate.
Hey Caelint, awesome run, got a question about it though. Why did you use a mace for part of it instead of using Dragonbane all the time?

Also a general question to anyone: do weapons slow you down when equipped and sheathed? Torch-running evidently requires a sheathed one-handed weapon and I just want to get my facts straight.
Willing to teach you the impossible
You walk/run faster with weapons sheathed

Actually, this is a misconception. You don't actually need any weapons to activate the torch-running glitch. All you need to do is make sure your fists are down (sheathed) and then just tap run once. You can also toggle the torch off either using a hotkey on PC or the favorites menu on console to avoid burning out the torch.
Quote from Encube:

Dragonbane has a very small amount of charges (almost using all of it on first Alduin encounter), and I didn't want to waste any of them on non-dragon enemies (enchant gives +20 damage against dragons).
WOW.
I finally got my dazzle working tonight and I did a rough test run of the console route I intend to do (I have only recorded Start > Sig's hideout). It's not perfect by any means but i'll post it up here when it's uploaded.
Has anyone tried to get arrested after Helgen escape? I managed to anger Anise at her cabin by kicking a pot at her but kicking the very same pot (oh yes, I kicked it over  a mountain) at a Whiterun guard did nothing.
WOW.

Do you mean when you do the fast-travel glitch in like the first minute of the run? I have not been able to yet unfortunatly. Ilseroth has been able to at Pelagia Farm but that is after going right through the dungeon.

I'm playing around with some OOB stuff - I'm able to get outside the walls of Riften and explore a mainly unrendered Skyrim world. Is Sovngarde actually on the map (even outside of the world boundries) or is it completly a whole other load because I might be able to trigger it to load if the trigger accesable using an OOB glitch.
I'm 99% sure that it is a completely different map. I went OOB in whiterun a few months ago, didn't find anything, and I was looking for hours. I even tried using noclip. If I remember correctly L0rdy tried it backwards, he was trying to find Skyrim from Sovngarde (more logical if you think about it) with noclip, and found nothing, which is the main evidence that they exist on different worlds. You can never be absolutely sure about that tho, so it doesn't hurt if you try.

Yeah, seems only right really. Oh well, I'm looking into ways to skip/speed up the peace council but so far to no avail. The council is triggered when you sit in the seat so the most logical think to do would be to make the game think you are sitting down when you are in fact not, a little bit like the doormounting glitch where the game think you are still mounted on the hourse. From there you would be able to bump into the talkers around the table and speed up the whole process.
Edit history:
Caelint: 2012-03-26 11:21:10 am
You can't bump into sitting NPCs so the only dialogues you could skip would be from the few standing NPCs. The only way to speed things up so far is quicksave/quickload spamming, which is of course PC exclusive.

I have now found a way to get to Helgen keep around 10 - 20 seconds faster in the first sequence of the run. The exploit I found is so awesome I cannot describe it -

Nice find, these neat little tricks make segmented runs much more interesting. Although as it's that early in the run it's good for ss runs too.

I thought about using Alduin that way, just not exactly here. What I found is that you can actually ride Alduin for a few seconds when he flies away, thus landing you outside Helgen. I never managed to stay on Alduin long enough to stay inside Helgen closer to Helgen keep. It would've been awesome tho Sad I'm glad you found something similar.
