Is anyone interested in speedrunning this game? I was thinking of setting up an any% category, which would end at you filling out your team fully, as well as a 100% category, which would mean beating everything possible on Sick.
Thread title:
What is the true meaning of Speed?

It's pretty cheap on Amazon right now.
Yeah dude, this sounds great, how would you go abouts setting this up? know any glitches or anything so far?
train kept rollin
For when teleporting is not worth it.
I've been casually looking into this myself. So far i kinda came up with an 1.000.000 million boards sold run.. didn't take it really serious think it took me around 3 hours 30 minutes.
I did make use of menu warping or whatever you wanna call it. Basicly teleporting to the goals you have to do instead of skating there through the open world.
I have speed run this game, fastest I've done was 2 hrs 40ish mins but was distracted and have not taken it seriously.
I've been trying to plan a category for this and it's hard to decide on just one since the game has no definitive end.
Here are the categories I can see making sense;
-  Full team (Achievement: A Dynasty Is Born) kind of is the end of the 'story' as such so can be classed as any%
- 1 Million Board Sales (After this there are no more board sale goals
- 100% Which involves killing every possible challenge

Now the other section to my post, a lot of this game seems to revolve around loading time, I could be wrong but I do believe that staying within one of the 3 maps seems to reduce the loading time, haven't tested properly, just going from what I've noticed, this means that routing can be fastest by doing an area fully then moving around.
Killing challenges also gives more board sales meaning you can reach a goal faster, let me know what you guys think
I'm thinking about starting to try some runs for the game any day now, i think i will start with a 1 mil boards sold run tonight.
The bad part is resetting, you have to quit the game and go delete the savefiles from your harddrive / memory card lol... Kinda lame that you can't just restart a new carreer (maybye i'm overlooking some options but wtf).
I will set up my splits as the milestones of boards sold (100.00 - 400.00 - 600.000 - 1.000.000) or whatever they exactly are.
I can play the game pretty decent on hardcore difficulty, allthough im not sure which to use for a run, maybye normal to start of.. Imo easy is a bit to easy and not realistic enough .. (i like to play the game realistic mode)
Anyway i'll see what happens and if i finish something with a time i'll report back to this toppic.

I am now following you, can't wait to see what you can manage
Update to the Skate 3 run:

I've went ahead and named all my splits off of the teammates you get at 15,000, 100,000, 300,000, and 600,000 (teammate #1, #2, #3, and #4, effectively), and after that, it's a race to get 1 million, which is considered Skate 3's endgame.

I'm thinking getting Sick on basically everything may take a bit more time than a normal run would, but the extra 2.5k (or around there) would certainly stack up and help to get 1 million in the fastest way possible.

The speed glitches, especially the one Pootrain linked, would certainly make going from spot to spot faster, as well as make it easier to line into combos and complete the challenges. I use the on/off board speed glitch, the cannonball speed glitch, and the wall speed glitch myself.

I was also thinking about making use of the Own The Spot online exploit (search for a Spot Battle online at a spot you don't have yet, then quit the online session immediately, which unlocks the spot), but I haven't decided whether we should use that or not.

Coombs: Yeah, going through the menu is the fastest way to get to any of the goals in the game, really, especially with some of the Spots.

I'll be practicing my runs on my Twitch.tv page, http://twitch.tv/m_tt . If anyone is interested in watching archives or seeing it live, come on by and let me know you're from SDA.
nice work man, keep it up
Interesting stuff Matt i will most likely use the splits you linked there to set them up myself. Sadly my plans to start runs got a bit delayed because of my dazzle being weird (used to work perfect now only gives black screen video output to pc) so once i get this fixed ill be off to try some runs myself.
Allthought i'm kinda unsure what the cannonbaal speed & wall speed glitches are?!
Here's Skate 3, 1Mil%. Pardon the audio lag; I didn't realize it was doing it during the recording.

Sorry to double-post, but as I'm writing this, I'm working on a full route that involves doing everything possible on the three levels (University, Downtown, and Industrial) where I don't have to swap between the levels repeatedly and deal with long loading times. As ioi LeGeND ioi pointed out, loading times can be a bit of a hassle, even with the game installed. If you take a look at my video, it's clearly shown there as well.

I'll report back when I have that full route planned out.
I could be wrong but I also imagine that staying nearby to your previous challenge can decrease loading time, I haven't tested this at all I am just assuming based on playing the game, testing needs to be done
ioi LeGeND ioi: Considering the challenge takes a good 3 seconds to load whether you do it standing next to the guy or teleporting to him, as long as you're on the same level (University, Downtown, or Industrial), it shouldn't make much of a difference.
good, makes routing a tiny bit easier, how is it going so far?
I've been learning new tricks for some of the deathraces, and I've been getting gold splits for them. About to start streaming right now, actually.

I need to do a run where I'm not asked a million questions. *cough LeGeND cough * Wink
i'm sorry but you're good and work is boring
Thanks man. If you could, could you post some of your questions in a PM or here? I can't remember what they were and Twitch doesn't store an archive of chat.

Double-posting again, but I've made a wiki for the speedrunning of Skate 3, which has listings of all Sick challenges available, as well as a few glitches.

http://speedrunwiki.com/Skate_3

EDIT: I've also recorded some videos of the deathrace exploits that I've used in my previous runs. I have linked them in the Deathrace section of the wiki (here), but here they are for this thread.

(Hidden so it doesn't overload the thread):

New exploit! This one's on the deathrace The Scenic Route.

EDIT: And another one found! This exploit is on Deadly Ditch, and the addition of this makes every single deathrace exploitable. thumbsup

EDIT (#2): I've been timing how long all of the deathraces take, and so far, my best time is 13:39:00. You can take a look in the following video:

nice one matt Smiley good work, now i can stop asking you Smiley
