Would anyone be intrested in doing a Simpsons Hit and Run run? I rented the game for the first time in about 2 years, and forgot how fun it was. Would anyone do a run for it?
Thread title:
DMC3,ZOE2 and Xenosaga 2.  Am I crazy?
It´s a little bit like GTA so I guess someone would run it.
I don´t own the game so I can´t do it.

I considered it, but the general concensus was that it wouldn't be a good game to speed run.  I don't understand WHY, as a fantastic execution of a run is always fun to watch even if the game is linear, but eh.

I suck too much in the later levels, but that's what practice is for.  I have trouble manuevering the faster cars, and some of the missions are brutal, requiring luck and such to pull off (Especially in Squidport, whenever you're forced to tear through the boardwalk without getting a damn HIT & RUN, or whenever you're following a car that the car doesn't crash along the way, or SOMETHING).
Fight, Crocogator, for everlasting peace!
I'd watch it. I made the mistake of buying the game. I think my first controller broke because of it, too. ><; So I'm all for seeing how the post-level-4 stages are. c.c;
I'd also love to watch a run of it. I also made the mistake of buying it (on XBOX), and got 90% frustration and 10% fun out of it.

I finished the game and haven't played it since.

A run would be awesome to watch precisely because the game is so difficult in places.

It's always tempting to play what people often rant to be "Ridiculously Difficult" games for no real rhyme or reason.  I was a sucker for F-Zero GX, the 1% Metroid Fushion challenge, DMC, Shinobi, all that good stuff just because of how difficult it is, and Simpsons Hit & Run is very tempting.

Anyways, how should a run like this be performed?  Should it be an Any % run?  Or possibly a 100%?

Thinking about it, I enjoy the game, but not THAT much.  If I was t'do this game, it would really just be an any % run because it's about as much patience as I have for it.  Levels 1 and 2 I can play exceptionally well.  Levels 3 and 4 are very doable, but require practice.  5 is a REAL pain, especially with Snake and the Armored Car mission since I can't destroy the damn thing without having to hunt down repair icons at least once, and even then, it takes way too much time for my taste.  Maybe I'm just missin' something.  6 is frustrating with just the Destroy Free Lasers mission in itself due to the fact I'm forced to tear through the Squidport boardwalk multiple times which ALWAYS nets me a Hit & Run status.  And 7 is just infuriating, since there's cars that have no lights on the road (Witches), and the pursuing the Alien Car mission is ridiculous just from how fast the car goes in that....

It's worth some more thought on the matter though.
A any% run in my opinion.

It would be sad to drop doing a run just because there is no elegant way to handle a few of the missions.

The real question is preserving one's sanity while playing that game though. It frustrated me a lot (crappy camera, hit and runs), and I was just trying to get through it. Smiley
I was wondering, would it be tolerated if I used a specific cheat to enable a speedometer to make my life easier?  All you do is go into the options screen before a run attempt, hold L1+R1 and enter...

Triangle, Triangle, Circle, Square.

Don't see why it wouldn't be allowed, but I might as well ask.
I don't think that should be allowed, since it helps you.

Sorry to bump an 8-month old topic, but I'm starting to work on a couple of H & R runs (New Game and NG+)  This is what I have for the route so far.

Level 1
Tutorial mission (skipped in NG+), turning sharp left after garage w/wrench to get to Kwik-E-Mart quickly (shortcut also used in SMRT & Office Spaced)
SMRT (sharp left after garage, firetruck ramp, other obvious shortcuts)
Petty Theft Homer (get coins from crates & wasp cam behind Flanders' house afterward)
Office Spaced (get coins from crate & wasp cam behind Wiggum's house, garage shortcut en route to Smithers, switch to Family Sedan immediately afterward)
Blind Big Brother
Flowers by Irene
Bonestorm Storm
The Fat & Furious (push Carl until he's in the plant, then trigger mission)

Level 2
Detention Deficit Disorder (shortcut through window of construction site, used several times in same level, pass by Moe's to effectively evade Skinner)
Weapons of Mass Delinquency (grab Ralph's fireworks using vehicle to evade Wiggum quickly)
Vox Nerduli
Bart N' Frink
Better Than Beef
Monkey See Monkey D'oh
Cell-Outs (I use Mr. Plow since it's the fastest w/high toughness)

Level 3
Nerd Race Queen (buy Cool outfit for Slithery Sleuthing, use stairs, gas station & ramp to docks shortcuts)
Clueless (aforementioned shortcuts used)
Bonfire of the Manatees
Operation Hellfish (same shortcuts)
Slithery Sleuthing (need I go on?)
Fishy Deals (switch to Malibu Stacy car)
The Old Pirate & the Sea

Level 4
For A Few Donuts More (I don't use garage shortcut since you have to wait for Wiggum anyway)
Redneck Roundup (get Prison outfit at Kwik-E-Mart en route for Ketchup Logic, get coins from crates & wasp cams on roofs of KEM, Lard Lads, and behind Flanders' & Wiggum's houses)
Ketchup Logic
Return of the Nearly-Dead (use garage shortcut)
Wolves Stole My Pills (obvious shortcuts used, get coins from roof of school)
The Cola Wars (get Police outfit in Bart's room since mission is triggered there anyway)
From Outer Space (get Canyonero from nearest phone booth)

Level 5
Incriminating Caffeine
And Baby Makes 8 (get coins from crates & wasp cam on roof of Legitimate Businessman's Social Club)
Eight is Too Much
This Little Piggy (not sure where earliest opportunity to get American outfit is, maybe at Moe's prior to triggering Incriminating Caffeine; switch to Longhorn)
Never Trust A Snake
Kwik Cash (Yeah, I hate the armored car)
Curious Curator

Level 6

Going to the Lu'
Getting Down with the Clown (Get coins from crates & wasp cams in studios before starting mission, tap Krusty's Limo from the side to start the race part of the mission)
Lab Coat Caper (get coins from crates & wasp cams around the observatory after speaking with Frink, mission doesn't start until you enter your vehicle)
Duff for Me, Duff for You
Full Metal Jackass
Set to Kill (I get screwed many times over on this mission, not from getting the stands, but on the way back to the studios [stupid Hit & Runs])
Kang & Kodos Strike Back

Level 7

Rigor Motors
Long Black Probes (get coins from behind Flanders' house, roofs of Kwik-E-Mart, gas station & Lard Lad's, only backtrack so far since RM doesn't end until you get to your house)
Pocket Protector (This & the Alien Auto-Topsy missions are bitches)
There's Something About Monty
Alien "Auto"topsy Part I
Alien "Auto"topsy Part II (this & III are very annoying since you have to go to the plant & back from the school)
Alien "Auto"topsy Part III

Need to figure out optimal points to collect coins with minimal effort.

I've never played it, but from what i've seen it's no where NEAR as bad as Road Rage (I still want those 4 hours of my life back from playing the game).

All of the vehicles in Road Rage are in this.
Speed Running Joy-bringer
Seriously, that last level was waaaay hard. The first few will be fun, but after that, it''s really going to be a big fuss.

What was the name of that level with Lisa... anyway, in that level I think one of those missions has you running through the harbour while there are LOTS of people there. Good luck NOT getting a H&R there (meanwhile the bastard in front of you will knock up all the people and stands he pleases... )

You're probably thinking of Fishy Deals which entails getting all the fish, the last one at the under construction bridge.  The Old Pirate & the Sea is the other one, destroy a car and then find Bart on the C-Spanker.  Both of those are in Level 3.  Either that or Full Metal Jackass with Bart destroying the "Free Laser Guns" stands in Level 6.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
This game would be a bitch to run with all of the cars and clothes you have to buy and the Alien Autotopsys are horrible. x_x

Hey if you ever get frustrated at this game, you can just turn on the one hit kill and invincible vehicle codes and just tear through town laughing as the police blow themselves up trying to bust your fun... Well, so long as you don't do a mission that requires hitting but not destroying a vehicle while the one hit kill is on. <_<

Good luck to you, MatrixTN, and anyone else who attempts this.

Problem with that: they're beneficial codes which aren't allowed (take less damage, more lives, god mode)

I think I've got the route down, just need to play through to be sure.  I will be (ab)using save warping (you CAN save anywhere, loading the save takes you to the trigger point of the current mission)  I'm not sure if I'll do the NG+ the same way.
I never said to use the codes for the actual run; it was just meant as a sort of cooldown.  Sorry for not making that clear. <_<

I'm not registered there but I do check out the forums from time to time.  Still not sure if I'm ready to attempt this or something else at the moment.

Just wondering if theres any progress being made for this run?  Ive had this game on PC for a while and would love to see a speed run of it, just so I can see some of the harder stages being absolutely dismantled.
You got a deletion wish?
Just optimizing my route, the annoyance points right now are having enough coins to get the required vehicles/outfits, really annoying starting with level 4.

Yeah, level 4 is a coin guzzler, what with needing to buy two outfits.  I'm looking forward to seeing how you handle some of the harder missions, especially the trash collection one in level 5.  I played the game through last night and I had to re-do that mission like 30 times.  One of three missions in the whole game that gives me trouble.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Sorry for the huge bump, but did anything become of this?
