I've been toying and casual playing through Silent Hill: Shattered Memories for the Wii and would like to post a recorded legitimate run eventually.

I think the game had sort of a cult following but went largely unnoticed. It has good reviews but a lot of Silent Hill fans discredited it for the lack of combat and odd "psychological profiling" system.

I don't believe there are any possible sequence breaks, so it's a lengthy run (under 2 hours, though) even after all puzzles are basically skipped, cutscenes skipped, fastest nightmare runs, and skipping all collectables.

I'd like as much input on what I should do to pursue running a new game. If I put together a final product for SDA, what should I keep in mind as a first timer?
Thread title:
I beat this game a few years back on PS2 and thought it was an OK Silent Hill game. I have nothing to contribute except for saying good luck to you and that I'd gladly watch a run of this game.

Just wanted to update with a posted time that I'm satisfied with - 1:27:46. [redacted, outdated, still on my youtube page :)]
every game is a horror game
Thanks for sharing here. I'm going to be working on a PS2 run which will be pretty much the same thing but I'm interested in seeing how different the timing is due to puzzles and cursor manipulating. I doubt it will have a lot different.
more keys then pablo escobar
If this game isnt like the older silent hill games the load times between versions will be the biggest time difference.

PSP being the quickest followed by Wii then, PS2. Considering loading times.

the only 'loading' screen is a short little text that pops up when you open a door sometimes and it loads the next area. it's very quick and there's no real way to quantify how long they are, to my knowledge.

other differences are mainly the controls. shaking monsters off uses the wiimote in the wii version. most small puzzles do as well. i think it constitutes a significant difference.

EDIT:

after some more work and resets, i've gotten a much better run time of 1:23:51 thanks to some heavy rerouting and new strategies Cheesy

Let's a-go (hopefully fast)!
I was contemplating running a 100%, uh, run for Shattered Memories and I figure that would include all the mementos, but would it also include all the echoes and "run up to this and trigger a text message or voice mail" stuff, because depending on your route through the game, a runner is going to miss one or two messages. I really enjoyed your speedrun, Tekkie (and the otters, so cute!), but seeing Cheryl stare at an empty box at the end of the game is kind of sad.

On an unrelated note, I watched your run of the entire series on Youtube in under 14 hours. Or was it 13? Powerful stuff, man. It was also hilarious in the SH4 portion, about falling up the escalator! I also agree with you; Shattered Memories is a great game that went unnoticed and was jeered at for being different.

By the by, is anybody still here? I see the last post was over four years ago...
