Anyone have any ideas on the Tryke? I had a time of 37.6x but the best I have gotten is 38.58 so far  :-/

The only thing I have discovered is that letting go of boosting after going over a jump speeds you up(the jump speeds you up, the boost is slower)

I was hoping this level had a certain timing to it like blockman... but i can't find any sort of technique to consistantly get an S... *sigh*
First of all, LMAO @ that stuck pot thing. I probably couldn't do that if I tried. xD

As for Tryke... I don't know. My best time is only 38.93 and I barely got that. I never knew that letting go of boosting right before a jump sped you up. That's a really nice trick.

The only thing I might suggest is this:  You know those vertical drops where there's a wall in front of you? Hit the wall (not while boosting) then fall a little bit. Then C-boost left and then right. You should avoid the obstacle in the first drop and fall faster than normal. I hope that's a clear explanation.

In other news, I was playing MERCO!! and got 15.03 Shocked
It's random as hell but it can go under 15 seconds.

wow... really nice.. I haven't played Merco since I got the S (just barely) I really didnt like that level... too random >.< Not like Tarus and Lunar where its pretty easy ^_^

Thanks for the tip... what i currently do is hit the first wall (no boost) and I bouce back just far enough to boost down to the bottom... although I dont think boosting down really helps in this level Huh? ... anyways, I got sick of it and redid 4-1... there are a few small mistakes.. but overall the run is a lot better than my last one

edit: Got it... and I am convinced that the speed boost off of jumps is what makes the S rank in this level easily obtainable... after getting used to it... low 38 and high 37 second times were fairly common... Reik, if you work on it and I think you'll be getting an S on this level in your SS Wink

Yeah, as soon as I press B to grab the tongue I turn the controller sideways and hold my right hand over the top of the controller so I can press down on the d-pad with my right thumb. It's kinda difficult. The trickiest part about it is not accidently pushing another direction while switching hand positions, because if you do then you don't get the quick shake.

Hmmm... the only thing that gets me is that if a level has an unusual method of getting an S rank, it isnt required to do such things like switching the position of the controller... Day Of being the only exception... but they actually give lots of time for you to get ready... other levels like Tryke and blockman... in time I came to realise and/or have been told that it doent come down to how fast you push, but some other trick (blockman: consistancy | Tryke: jump speed)... my point is, I cant help but think that there is something missing... some little trick that doesnt require us to press the dpad as fast as we possibly can.... then again, i could be wrong  :-/

Interesting theory... but I can't think of anything that would help. Remember the game designers didn't design this game to be easy. Roll Eyes

Anyway, I've been revising some of my strats for a few levels and I've come across something that might help you, Veysey. In Clanball Lift, you know the part where you land on top of one of the ships and slide jump from there? Well you don't need to. Slide jump to the raised area just to the right of the ships and do an extended slide jump + 1 or 2 boost grabs. I'm going to use it in my SS because sometimes the other ship gets in my way.

EDIT: Also found another trick. At the end of Snowstorm Maze, don't go on the platform. Slide jump all the way to the right and place the pot against the wall. Stand on it and face left. Now when you take out the kids you won't be pushed backward off the pot.

Thanks... i actually came across that before, but wasnt sure if I was saving time... I suppose I likely was... guess I'll but the lift on my redo list, hahahaha

Finished off world 4... so on to the final 8 levels....

Jeez, Veysey. You're a machine. It's good that you're going so fast though because I'm using a lot of the tricks from your individual level runs in my SS now.

I'd like to post all my revised strats, but there are waaaaay too many. Here's a big one though:  I'm going to use the aerial one-hit strategy on the worm. It usually turns into a two-hit strategy though if I don't get the timing correct.

And you were right. I can get Aster's Tryke S-rank consistently now! Grin

Bat alas, I have hit a road block... Merco :s... you wouldnt mind sharing your strat would you... actually... I think it'd be a big help just to even get a good start on the level... once I get his spear I throw it diagonal down 3 times... then diagonal up... catch it in the air and throw it strait ... kills him... but I'm still only getting like 18 seconds :S
I was wondering when you'd ask.  Wink

As soon as the match starts, grab and hope he thrusts his spear immediately. If he doesn't, grab again and hope he thrusts it then. If you don't get it either of those times, restart. If you want sub-15, you'll probably need the immediate thrust.

Shake the spear away from him immediately and hope he doesn't charge you. Put it down and shake his shield away from him as soon as you can. Throw it diagonally up and to the left, then slide into the spear and grab it. Jump to the right and throw the spear diagonally down into him 3 times. (If he moved toward you at all during this, you weren't fast enough. Restart.)

After you've thrown the spear the 3rd time, pray that he stands still and doesn't teleport the spear to himself. He doesn't do this often, he usually jumps. If he stands still, stand on the ground right next to him and throw the spear right at him. If he is spaced correctly, the spear will bounce off the wall and just barely hit him again. Now throw him straight down and position yourself to the right of him.

Hahaha... thanks... it really isnt that much different than my strat, except for the last throw of the spear... although i guess it must be my execution that is causing the 3 second gap... this level always felt weird for me... kinda like it was hard to concentrate or something, guess i got my work cut out for me ^_^

I have not once seen him just stand there O_o... ugh... either way, I adopted the strat for his jump and got him in just under 16.... oh how i wish he'd just stay still like a good boy ^_^... I'm gonna give it a little more time, but if nothing develops, I'll likely move on for now ^_^ hahaha

I can't wait to see some of these gold gem runs. Lucky me, I get a sneak peak at them because I'm going to Cape's house this weekend to play Smash. 8)

The gold gem in Rescue 2 is near the bottom in one of the blocks. You have to wait for Calina to drop bombs in order to get to it.

As soon as the match starts, I dash right a few blocks. She drops a bomb where I start, then one there, then I knock her down. I jump in the hole that she just made and break down the wall, the bomb falls and blows up the Blue Brick. I then trap Calina in a corner and go nuts on her, and as she is being destroyed, I grab my gem. Smiley

I can get low 38s pretty consistantly with it.

Edit: So far I realized I have to eat two B ranks. Missle Surf and maybe Rescue 1.
The rest I think I can get an A to with some practice and a little luck.

I was also 4 seconds off of an S rank on Day Of (Hundred Meter isnt that bad :-p)

As for Merco, using the strat you outlined Reik, I sort of merged it with my own strat... mainly, throwing the lance at the end and grabbing the lance before the shield is what I got from you and although my time is 15.00 right now, that strat isnt gonna take it much lower... although this strat is consistant... once I get the lance from him and I dont screw up, I will get below 16 seconds... there hasnt been a time yet where he's taken the lance from me .... and he has ALWAYS jumped... so far its completely consistant... not to mention he seems to follow this pattern no matter when or where you take his lance (if you hit him trice, he jumps and you can bat him again)... anyways watch the video, I think you'll understand.... my point is... once you get the lance from him in your SS... follow this and he should go down quickly.... you'd likely be looking at less than 20 seconds under any condition... oh and did I mention he has NEVER charged me with this method either? It all started when I took his lance from him using shake instead of boost back.... hmmmm

Well... enough ranting... 4 levels left.... and with time to spare tomorrow, I hope to finish all my initial runs off Smiley

You know what this means? This means I'm pretty much always going to S-rank Merco as long as he thrusts his spear fairly quickly in the beginning. Cheesy

Now if only we could manipulate Lunar into always using Dash bombs and Tarus into throwing just the right punches... xD

Awesome... I was wondering about missile surf, but i figured boost grabbing up there in a SS without the missile blowing up is quite a task, so I kept my mouth shut Tongue

I couldnt likely leave Merco at 15.00, so I got him down to 14.98... good enough for now... I can rest in peace Tongue
