SGDQ/AGDQ running question

I have never attended an event, but thought about it in the future. The game I run in my free time is Super Mario Galaxy. I have an import copy I play on my soft modded wii/wiiu. Am I able to submit a run on that? Real game disc, no modifications to play, just a way to play the import. Please, any replies and answers will be helpful.

Maybe. I don't know enough about the game. If it was officially released on those systems I think softmod should be fine.

Yes, it was officially released on both Wii and Wii U (virtual console), and can be played on Wii U with disc. Just consoles are region locked and I run the japanese version.

I ran CV: Rondo of Blood at AGDQ this year on WiiVC, so I'm sure it's perfectly fine, even if you soft modded. I would suggest looking into the game's community as well.

edit: My run was a race, and my opponent was using a soft modded Wii to play Rondo, fyi

I'm not where near submitting a run, still practicing too much. Going to have to explore the community more and see what I can learn.

I seem to remember that at least one GDQ run used a cheat device as a method of bypassing a region lock. If that's accepted, this almost certainly could be.
