I just remembered... There was some 100% run submitted, but got rejected, due to not being 100%. Haven't seen the run itself, but is 100% possible in some way? That might be really interesting. I'd do such ILs at least (though I'm not really fan of doing them) Smiley

I'm not a fan of 100% categories in games that dont actually have a percentage scale since the definition of 100% can be subjective.
I'm guessing 100% in Serious Sam could be defined as finding all secrets and killing all enemies in each level? Both are limited quantities and the progress is shown in the stats screen of each level. Could also argue whether all the "key items" like the Gold Ankh etc. have to be collected.
Since there is no counter glitches, I'd say that only doing everything that is needed for stats screen to show x/x value. So if some particular item, required for progress can be skipped to save time, I'd accept that.
Yeah you only need to find all the secrets and kill all enemies. The 100% run that was rejected was TSE HD and it has bugged enemy spawns. Wouldn't surprise me if TFE HD also has it. 100% runs would be pretty interesting if you could optimize them well, thing is they're just so much faster in co-op because there's a lot of running around and stuff. It's funny how few levels in any% that would actually benefit from having more than one player. Dunes, Alley of the Sphinxes, Sacred Yards and The Great Pyramid are all I can think of.
This strategy is pretty maxed now. I think 0:56 is possible with perfection. Anyhow I'm going for a different strategy where you clip through the ground now, knew about it earlier but found a new method which makes it a bit easier. Something like 0:52 should be possible. Also there is a way to boost yourself on the cliffs at Oasis. Would most likely be faster than the normal strategy but it seems to be super random. I'll see if I can upload a video of the boost.

Created table for ILs on speedrun.com. You may post yours there. Wink Will add the same for second encounter soon enough.

cant agree with you more Ewil
Alright, I added my TFE times. I guess there is no need for ssdq.org anymore Smiley

I haven't been playing for a long time but I did get a 0:52 on Moon Mountains by clipping through the ground. Going to work on another level this week since I finally have some time over.
hi
cool stuff.
Is that clipping through the ground a new technique? Also applicable on other maps?

I created a table for the TFE rerun that also shows the time saved compared to the currently listed SDA run:

Nope it's the same technique as in Metropolis. Will upload a video sooner or later.

I guess we can use both the google doc and speedrun.com. Speedrun.com is nice because it's a more global place and you can find links to the videos.
Metropolis in 0:52. So it seems 60 fps is the minimum needed to Harpy fly reliably over long distances, and at the same time it's about the maximum for clipping through the ground. You just need a lot of height/speed and some luck. This strategy is going to improve many of my level times in TSE because I hadn't experimented much with Harpy flying at different fps back then.

hi
now thats what im talkin about thumbsup
So yeah I've been working on improving levels slooowly and here's my current times:

Hatshepsut 00:31
Sand Canyon 00:46
Tomb of Ramses III 01:25
Valley of the Kings 01:58
Moon Mountains 00:52
Oasis 00:41
Dunes 01:38
Suburbs 00:50
Sewers 00:55
Metropolis 00:49
Alley of the Sphinxes 03:42
Karnak 02:15
Luxor 01:05
Sacred Yards 01:00
The Great Pyramid 05:27

rayvex has 0:42 on Sand Canyon and 1:22 on Tomb of Ramses III, not sure if he's improved any other levels. I realized the strafe jumping could be done even faster than I thought was possible so that's how I managed to get 0:31 on Hatshepsut and 0:50 on Suburbs. Now I'm working on Valley of the Kings which has haunted me for years and it still does cause I can't get the double boost from the floating Gnaars that rayvex does in his video, you need to get one of them stuck and I haven't figured out a consistent way of doing it. Which is a problem because the tree boost at the start is super RNG based already.
Soo I've just found out that the strafe-jumping from HD version also works in SS2. It doesn't save much though. On a 16 seconds walk, it saves about half a second, so roughly 3%.

Maybe it works in SD versions, too?
Funny cause I tried it in every other game except SS2 and it didn't work in those games. In SS3 you get slowed down, and in SD I didn't notice anything.
