The man made of sticks
Alright, NOW I'm done.

http://www.dashevil.sytes.net/stx-Vile/04_-_Valley_of_The_Kings_-_434_stxVile.zip

I suppose it's habits I've developed from years of speedrunning doom, but I have a hard time ignoring mistakes.  Anyway, I'm satisfied with the run overall and can move on.  The Second Encounter won't be so forgiving, so I'd better get over it now.  Tongue

Some of my free time is going to get removed soon, so I won't be finishing runs quite as quickly as before... that and SE levels are generally much longer and will probably take more effort for me to be satisfied with a run.  I gotta say that I'm really enjoying playing it again, though.  Smiley
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Only thing I can think of that would make them more exciting would be to do a no shortcut run so that we'd see more battles. Outside of that it was sweet. I'll be looking forward to SE and any other runs you have coming.
omg! wtf?
err.. what do you mean "no shortcuts" ? it's "done quick" not "done with lots of action.."

anyway great job stx-Vile. i would compete you but i don't have the game Smiley
Just wondering, is this going to be post officially on Speed Demos Archive, or is it just going to be available via the download links in this thread?

The man made of sticks
Radix hasn't been around recently, but I left him a message letting him know that I've finished the project.  Once he returns, we'll see what happens from there.  I have yet to finish a write-up for the project, so I suppose I'd better get moving on that now.  If it gets hosted here, I'll remove the files from the webspace so it can be used for SE runs, once I get started.
i wanan gj for ur work, its a great run Smiley
Hey Ho Let's Go
stx-Vile: I'm sure Radix will post your speedrun, or else I will personally molest his nutsack!  Wink

The man made of sticks
Probably the last time I'll be bumping this thread, but I'd like to address a technicality that I overlooked while recording these runs.  For levels 02, 04, 14, and 15, the final cutscene for the level ends one second after the times that were given to each of these runs.  For example, in level 04, the final cutscene begins at level 4:35, but the tally screen gave me a 4:34 time instead.  I nor Radix can explain exactly why this happens, but it could be similar to the Quake exit trigger, for those who know what that means.  So, for those levels, one second will be added to the final times, and this standard will be used for all future SS runs.  In other words, it's possible for the tally screen to lie and give me a time that's a second faster than it really should be.

I thought it would be better to explain that now than later, since I'll most likely be encountering the same thing once I start SE. Roll Eyes
