Anyone planning on doing a SS 2 SpeedRun???
I think stx-Vile could do it very nice.

But I don't know, cause I've beaten the game twise already and it's very long. There no Game Errors, that you can use like in Serious Sam 1 (First Encounter and Second Encounter).
And what's worse there are no rocket-jumps available.

So I don't know stx-Vile, if you'll like it.
But I'll say this, The Game Is Worth It.

Telling someone else to do a speedrun.... joy. He's taking a break after finishing his Descent run.

I don't have the game yet.  Even then, I wouldn't want to immediately start speedrunning a brand new game.  Also, my computer is only fast enough to make these new games enjoyable to play, not record smooth videos via Fraps.  I'm sure there are plenty of players who could do a better job, but uh, we'll have to see just how runnable the game is.  Invisible barriers... goodie.

Well, I think I can do a speedrun of the game. 8)
But I'll need to practice a little bit.

The Levels (especially the last ones) are very enemy-crowded Angry

So.
I made the first level. A test for my new Fraps.
It's 2.23 time, without the ending sequence.

Actually at the end of the level you can skip the fight with the Axe-man by just passing him by (if you can stay alive ;))
It's for you to judge now if the game is worth making a speedrun.

Me personally, I think you should register and start running this game yourself. Hell, you might as well, you're one level in Tongue
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I think I might give this game a shot, managed to get 1:42 at lv 1 on Serious diff, only got dem file till my brother comes back to record though.

The file looks kinda vague though cause the game doesn't skip cutscenes in demos and doesn't show time Sad

but I'll try to get a .avi or something like that on here

What happened to the original Sam run by vile? Held up due to Radix's latest bout of bad luck? I thought it was done a long time ago but I might be mistaken.

Aw... jeez.  It seems the decision to have a game called Serious Sam: The Second Encounter and a different game called Serious Sam 2 still serves to confuse.

Anyway, the Second Encounter runs were finished a while ago.

well good thing is 1.37 with a .avi file, bad thing is I can't get the sound to work right so, if anyone feels like speedrunning this game I wish you good luck Smiley as I find this game speedrunnable but it'll be extremly difficult lateron in the game. And I wouldn't recommend a single segment run Wink

And indeed I think you've confused Second encounter with Serious sam 2

*starts screwing around with sound options*

ok I think I might be able to record normally anyways but there are still some questions:

1. can you use deaths to save time? (which I would find rather boring)

2. when running individual levels, would it be best to choose from the custom map list? So that when someone wants to beat it they'll have the same amount of bullets/armor/life etc.

3. Are there some people that actually WANT to see a Serious Sam 2 speedrun on Serious difficulty?

that would be all
Still alive...
1: From the Rules page:
Quote:
Dying: In some games you might be able to commit suicide in order to save time, either by teleporting back to a location you've been to and need to return to, or by refilling your character's magic or health. Radix never liked this either and used to impose minute penalties when it was used, but inconsistently. Now you can use death as much as you want, but such runs will be labeled "abuses death". Which means, of course, that runs that don't abuse death and are slower will be posted too.

2: Yeah, it would be the best. But its up to you to make that decision.
It would probably be a seperate category for a Segmented run which carrys over ammo and weapons.

And hell yeah i would like to see this run!!
pierdole zdejmuje kominiare
Me too.

But Serious Sam 2, unlike the previous games, sucks at speedrunning. You can not get any boosts from any weapons (no rocket jumping), and its linear. It's a great game to play, yet a terrible game to speedrun. Yes, invisible walls =/= fun.

True that compared to the other SS games this one is rather annoying to speedrun as you cannot gain boosts and invisible walls and stuff, but there are still other ways to do some levels at high speed which would require some luck but eventually it could be done.

Having said that I'm gonna try to get to work. Custom levels for equal bullets, Serious difficulty. Don't expect me to be done very soon Wink
