Oddworld Speedrun Master!
What do you think of this new updating runs monthly?

I don't think it's a great idea as I got several Abe runs and they are in the 'Prelease check' part of the que and I think they should get updated once a run has gone through the checklist.
Thread title:
All the things
You get to look forward to them being in the spotlight soon then. I'd be pumped!
in truth sda's content is so good that 'run of the year,' which i had argued for, would be more appropriate. but i was overruled on that one. better tell everyone about this kageki run because it'll be may before you know it.
HELLO!
I ran a quick estimate. My run should be Run of the Month  around July 2016.  HYPE.
I dunno about you guys but I am stoked as hell.  My one complaint is that I think we may have blown our load right out of the gate.  I mean how does next months run come in and top Kageki.  That run may be one of the finest works this site has ever seen.  The commentary alone is worthy of the SDA title "Greatest of All Time" if I do say so myself.  Cheesy
Exoray
Rest assured your runs will eventually be highlighted and posted in its own month.
Maybe I should also mention that runs with audio commentary makes for a better show case so those runs will probably have higher priority and be allowed to sneak past runs in the queue that don't have.

Can I do audio commentary for Arcomage now? hahahaahahahh

At least it will be a faster update time than for what it normally is.  I can't wait to see next month's speed run!
Waiting hurts my soul...
Finally, I will now have enough time to watch every run that comes out. I think it's a great addition and speaks greatly to the quality of the site.
No pain, no gain
What?! Guys, no! This is incredibly stupid! We've heard stats that there are over 20 runs submitted each month! That means that it'd take almost two years just to get through one month of runs (if they're all accepted).  I didn't have any problems with verification before, but now,  I don't even see the point to this website!

I might as well go create my own! Yeah, I don't know how to write HTML or any type of programming language, and videos I encode usually come out with a wobble, but I'll read a book! That's right, I'll read a book, and then I'll show you how to do things right!

Does anyone have any animated GIFs for my upcoming better-than-one-update-a-month website? I think I need a spinning construction man to start with.
1-Up!
This is truly for the best. I know the backlog concerns some people but we'd rather ensure that runs get their time in the limelight than worry about that for now.

Love the new feature. Kageki is an awesome run to start this off with. I think the run  could be optimized better by beating the bosses closer to the manholes so "Carrot Top" doesn't have to walk so far with them. Great feature guys!
I love the new system, but I think some people may be concerned about not having their runs posted within three years of passing verification, and it might be beneficial to eventually cater to those people.  I've come up with a compromise solution that I think will keep everyone happy.

To make room for runs that might not immediately achieve run of the month status like Kageki, I propose creating a few copies of the site, with completely separate backends and maintainers.  That way, the run of the month could keep its place on the proper speeddemosarchive.com web site, but the lesser runs could make it out of the gate sooner by being posted on speeddemosarchive2.com, speeddemosarchive3.com, etc.  Some runners may not like having their runs go up on a site that indicates its secondary or tertiary status in the URL, and there may also be issues with staffing that could affect the timeliniess with which runs are posted on the lower-tier sites -- speeddemosarchive5.com will likely be managed by a picture of Mike Uyama and a Wheat Thin -- but I think that will actually have a positive effect in the end as it will encourage competition for the top slot.

Thank you in advance for taking this proposal into consideration.

There. I started my competition website. I need some feedback, though. How do I upload videos? And are there enough construction men?

EDIT: after reading the above post, I've decided that we could make my site into speeddemosarchive2.com, if everyone's okay with that.

First Brossentia, then Cosmo, and then TG and Guinness will be next to fall!  Onward, soldiers!
You know, this got me thinking. It's great that we're highlighting individual runs for longer durations now, but what about all of the runs from before that had to share a news post and didn't get their fair share at the top of the news page? I think we need to give a month to each of the previously-listed runs as well before we move on to some of the more recent submissions.

I'm not sure about this. Do you know how many years we'd be doing Quake videos? Just seems a little unnecessary. Maybe we could do a speeddemosarchiveretro.com for that -- it'd be appropriate to show the runs that have been invalidated, as well, since it's all cool like that.  I think we could also feature that one DK64 run that got rejected a few years back; seems like it'd have a home there. It was by Wouter, right?
HELLO!
and speeddemosarchivespliced.com for the.. spliced runs.

Please dont forget about the original runs that have been obsoleted. They need some time as well.
ILs each count as separate runs right? I look forward to 18 months straight of Sonic 4 Episode 2.
