I don't quite know what a Podcast is, but I think they're popular, and the more ways to get the word out the better
A regular podcast for each new news entry? I'm sure at least one SDA member could read the SDA news so [fill in the blank]ly that they could become a star ...

"A podcast is a series of audio or video digital media files which are distributed over the Internet by syndicated download, through Web feeds, to portable media players and personal computers." - From wikipedia.org
An SDA podcast could consist of discussion regarding runs from the latest news, runs in the verification queue, runs soon to come, runs in general, runners in general... you get the point
http://www.moddb.com is running some great podcasts (modcasts) where they talk about upcoming releases of mods, mods they recently played or anything that would be fun to discuss for that matter. Check one out to get a better understanding on what a podcast would sound like.
I think alot of people just use Garage Band although i think it limits to what you can record in one go to just over an hour. Any thing that records audio will work but obviously it helps if you can edit it and have got some decent mics.
I think this a good idea, but I don't really have the time to make a podcast. If someone else on the site wants to set up a podcast and interview regular SDA-members on a bi-weekly or monthly basis, I would definitely approve. I'm sure Enhasa wouldn't mind having a little something to add with the usual updates.
I have an erratic enough schedule with classes that I could probably get a hold of any one to interview them, but I've had no experience with this. If someone wanted to help out or such I can do that.
but this seems like a reasonable idea for SDA, though how often would you want it? Weekly could be a stretch for me; but then again I can pass it off it something goes realy bad in a week.
Setting this whole thing up is easy. You could start a skype conference and use CallBurner for recording. This way you can have new persons holding the session as well as include people to interview without much trouble.
The hard and tedious part comes in editing the recordings afterwards. Certain things might not fit in the podcast, there might be long moments of silence or downtime due to a dropped connection. Things like these really needs to be edited out for the podcast to have a decent quality. Finding someone to consistently have time for the editing will be the hard part.
Hey i may be able to do this. I have Knowledge of this from many many months of practice and I have skills in Winamp and Shoutcast. I can set up the bandwidth to broadcast the podcast if anyone would like it as a radio podcast as well. Also I can interview people and also set up scheduling and I have loads of free time while I wait to get my fingerprint scanned for a job I'm applying too. Anyone want to help with me to get a demo/beta/alpha/trail/practice podcast up/working can hit me up with a PM or E-Mail Backthing1@gmail.com since right now my 4 Instant messaging screen names are down at the moment. I have FREE TIME and SKILLS of PODCASTS
EDIT1: I also have skill in Skype, Audacity, MP3's, Flac, OGG, Loseless Format, CallBurner, and lots of audio programs related to Winamp/Shoutcast

I think your better than me. All we really need to do is get thid thing going...
Yeah its just the trouble of finding people to do the interviews. But first off let me ask if anyone is willing to help in getting the info down to start our first podcast and get people to help with interview. Then ill throw it together and see how it comes out for a trail/pilot podcast and go from there.

my schedule as a CISE major makes me open to be able to be on at about any time any day (except when i have classes and thursdays 9-11 cause I do like my Kendo club).
I wouldn't mind being a part of this; even to just record interviews and then send them to be editted / imported into the podcast. Though; I was wondering how would we handle the format for this? And Could we include minor teasers of upcoming updates, or things just recently uploaded?
I think it would be good to have the SDA mods as the main podcast people with random well known speedrunners coming in as guests. I have no knowledge about it but is it possible to record off something like skype? Then people wouldn't have to leave their homes to produce a podcast.
Sorry about this guys, I have just fixed my internet and i'm back to start getting the pilot/trail podcast up and running. Ok what should the first podcast be about?
Epsiodes should discuss any speedruns that have been released since the last one. Getting the runner or someone who knows about the run would also be useful. 1st episode should maybe discuss the new Earthbound one and outline what the podcast is going to be.
