I've joined! I'm a big PC-Enthusiast and I'm upgrading my GPU to either two 4870x2's or I'll wait until the 5800 series are released. I'm running it on a HD3850 right now, pretty old card (2007) but it's overclocked and running 200 iterations per second. I've completed one WU (started last night) and I like to use it as a kind of benchmarking / overclocking tool, plus it puts the GPU to 100% so I can test the Temperatures too.

I would recommend to use nvidia cards for folding though since the type of unified shaders used by nvidia are much more efficient in this task. For example, my relatively cheap 9800GT is about as fast as 2 4870s in folding. Of course, you buy whatever you want Grin

Kibbo tried several times to convince me to join. I always managed to weasel out with a good excuse, but not this time Grin

Now the client finally got the feature to limit cpu usage Cheesy

So my Server in the living room runs the single cpu client 24\7, while running at about 800MHz and utilizing the cpu at about 35% for folding.

That's next to nothing compared to what Kibbo's GPUs do, but it only raises my server's power consumption by about 5W.

There is enough people on SDA to make it possible to reach top 100, the problem is to get people to run the various clients (and do so with team id 110285).

People using nvidia cards for folding might want to update to the latest 190.38 driver, improves folding performance quite a bit.

Waiting hurts my soul...

I started this a while ago, but I just noticed that I'm listed as using 2 processors yet I only have one. Also, I don't think I'm helping that much since I started at about the same time as bimanc, but he's already surpased my performance quite a bit.

Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz
Running at 2.8GHz and 1.05V

Single Core Client has just been reinstalled and started to work

I've been folding for a while, somewhat nightly, but here recently I've found that the completion time has jumped from ~5 hrs to like 20+ hrs.

Would that be connection related or is it a separate issue?

probably something else running that's sapping your cpu. either that or something not allowing it to up the clock.

it's also possible that they're sending you bigger work units.
