Oh, the engrish in this game is awesome as well. Who the fuck didn't want to do special course at first? Seriously, its 20 times better than any of the other courses.
The game doesn't run at a decent speed on my pc, and the framerate is very inconsistent, so I don't think my scores are realy 'fair' (Unintended slowdown, but inconsistent shocks in gameplay speed. :\ )
Edit: nvm, I missed the posts about doing special mode.
71,030 - AquaTiger - Stage 5 - Space Invader Score is on Special Course.
The switch to the Special Course has forced me to put up another score on this game. But honestly, I may still give it a few more chances this week, and I'll probably have a score for every course (just because) before this week is out. I at least want to hit six digits somewhere (probably on Special) before I stop completely.
Why I like this course more than the Expert course, I have no idea. It might help that, thanks to some random frustration with level 4 of the Special course (I couldn't get anywhere, got frustrated and hit the button on my controller that I'd assigned to this game's Button 1 at the time), I now know there's a button to add some force to the player's movement if done right (I believe this would be the 'tilt' stanski's referring to, and from here on out I will refer to it as such).
And with the Special Course I may give Black Steel another chance - because Space Invader (heck, any character that isn't perfectly round) gets stuck on just about everything that isn't round (helps for breaking stuff sometimes, but not so good when you're trying to go around a lot of corners).
EDIT: lol, I just realised I got 5:32.9 and two (much) higher scores in here took up to a minute more. Maybe I should slow down and try to get some easy timer additions/stops.
EDIT 2: I might go for a pure speedrun of this sometime in the future. Maybe. Though it's about as likely to fabricate as the rest of my proposed projects (i.e. not very).
This can still go up a lot, I'm trying to find the right combination of things to go after and things to skip point/time boxes wise, and level 9 continues to be a stumbling block.
Our scores absolutely paste the shmups.com scores btw. What this means is we work harder on random games and are less disaffected I guess.

Yes, my secret plan is for someone to speedrun this game for SDA after this. Of course, if I was really thinking, I would pick 5 games that can be run, which I'm not.

<LigerOfFortune> enhasa why dont you make it obscure good nes/snes games, and the competition to be who can finish them the fastest- This will inspire some to speed run awesome obscure nes/snes games
If I ever did a speedrunning tourney, it would be something like this. You can replace nes/snes with just older console though.
Special course is more intuitive but I think I have a headache, that'll do.
Don't blame AquaTiger for getting frustrated not knowing about the speed-up button, although it is explained in the tutorial (as if I played through that).
I could using the acton button more, but I am not that very good at this game. First time I got past level 5 without extra credits. Later on I may try Black Steel and/or a 200k score.
I am enjoying this game so far. Great choice for starting off this torney, I think...
