The Ho boat skip is simple after the fade out you recruit a homie then disband causing the heli to crash. You have to be quick you need to disband before the heli starts moving otherwise it will not work.

All it is is 3 game mechanics stacked to make a 4th happen. They are;
1. If you have followers any vehicle you enter becomes yours even if you are not driving.
2. seemingly there are 2 type of homies, one which you are bound to and you have some control over them meaning you are responsible for them and two which loosely tethered to you and you have no real control over and what happens to them is not your responsibility(sometime they are not even your homies like the saints backup).
3. If you disband you gang anyone who is no longer with you will leave your vehicle as soon as you are stationary.
4 On some missions there are safety nets put in place to prevent soft locks for example on gangbang if you jump of the roof you are defending though it is a survivable height, as you can parachute, there is a plane in midair that, if you try to cross, kills you. In the fly over missions if you leave the rail of the auto-scroller and the vehicle gets destroyed or becomes out of range the game assumes it is not your fault and give you a mission pass.

So when you recruit you take over control of the heli and change your homies from type one to type two, when you then disband if you are still stationary the pilot thinks the heli is yours and jumps out meaning it leaves the mission rail falls into the water  and is destroyed triggering the next part of the mission.

On xbox and possible unpatched versions of PC this is also possible on Kenzi’s Guardian Angel.

If the Numbers are on the same line as the mission that means you get them during the mission if they are on a separate line that is getting them on the way to next mission.

Few things to know about the run; while most of the activities are trivial there are a few that can eat up time some Insurance frauds come to mind, There are quite a few that are hard if you don’t learn the tricks some Genki’s rely on getting large combos early, for the longer trail blazing you need to learn the correct routes and rack up time by driving on paths to get pedestrians, The WCI escort has a bug that say it wants you to do 1 sec of power sliding when the requirement is 2 secs and some of the Heli assaults are difficult to keep the AI alive you need to take down Helis as quick as possible, A lot of the roof collectables are in annoying places which is ok outside of missions where you can just land and get out but the ones you get in mission require good flying to land on the packages. Upgrades are taken when ever and driving routes are pretty much all the same as any% with slight debtors for collectable.

Anyway GL with any runs you do my time is improveable by 15-20 mins IGT so sub 7 is the goal maybe with others input into route changes it can go even lower in time.

100% is all collectable, all activities and all missions only. Gang operations, barnstorm, stunt jumps, saint’s book activities chop shop, Assassinations and challenges and stores and crib purchases are not required which is lucky as that would be something like 10+ more hours of content depending on RNG

Ah, thanks! I couldn't get the Kinzie skip working even though I have no DLC(PC version), but I didn't try it more than 3 or 4 times. Ho Boat works just fine.

Also, I just found something that might be useful. During the mission Convoy Decoy(where you hijack the VTOL and blow up a bunch of bases), when Oleg calls for you to help him at the park you can exit the mission(or kill yourself) and retry from checkpoint to spawn really close to the park. Seems like it should save some time.

I have questions about the Kenzi skip;
Could you not get the heli to crash or did you die in the crash? If you died in the crash it maybe something that was patched meaning certain versions will be quicker as this is a 3min save.

There maybe a few checkpoints like that which seem to put you back in the wrong place, the is one in Kilbane live is a good example, If the flight takes less than 20 secs, the time taken to reset and return to the mission, it will lose time otherwise it is viable. With this being the second one like this there could be more to find.

I plan to try it at different loactions and find a spot where you are the closest to the ground just to check out what happens.
sellz90 what's happening on Xbox at that point? You fall the heli crashes and explodes then you get the mission end screen? Or it's like at Ho Boat you get the mission screen as soon as you hit the ground? My idea was before that when you crash during the Ho Boat the character gets out from the Heli as soon as it hits the water (like when you drop into the water with other kind of vehicles) and the game find it as the trigger of the end of the scene. But at Kinzie's you are still in the heli during and after the crashlanding.
It's just my theory.

For me I crash just like in your highlight but when the heli explodes I survive easily, I am able to walk around but I’m restricted in what I can do, I can’t switch weapons or enter cars, I have enough time to run over to the photo op to the right of the tunnel take it and wait around for 10-15sec before the bar goes up in 2 lots and then it passes me when the bar is full. So seemingly the games see I have fallen off the rails that I am out of range to influence the missions and I can’t continue and assumes that it is not my fault so passes me.

What makes me think it has been patched is the fact that if you fly in a heli and crash until it explodes the explosion alone doesn’t kill you. The only other example I have found of being killed when you shouldn't be is during gangbang where you jump off the roof and hit the plane in the air that kills you regardless. If they added this to this mission I would explain how my unpatch version works by not your game versions.

Here is a video from one of cereth’s run look at the bar going up, sadly his bar fills up before the heli explodes so we can’t see if he would survive the explosion, but it show the principle of being out of range and off the mission rail and the game’s safety net kicking in. So we can find out if there is a patch that addressed this and revert back before that patch, Find a way to survive the explosions with extra upgrades or find another way that takes you off the rail but keep the heli intact long enough for the game to realize you are out of range and pass you.

Hmm, tried a few more times and I could only dismiss the pilot at the very start of the helicopter sequence. If I tried afterwards it never worked. Tried with and without the first health upgrade, still died every time. The helicopter emergency alarm starts going off after it falls for a bit, and very shortly after touching the ground, it simply explodes. Can't jump out.

Went through and refined some of the driving route for the longer drives they are marked on the map below.

The green line is a new Party time route this is a good 20-30 second improvement there is a part where you can take the stunt jump or take the road if the road is clear that is the better route but often there is quite a bit of traffic so taking the jump is better.

The pink line is the return to steelport route this is a new route which is better than the older one used

The red line is a new route going to kenzi’s guardian angel did some timing the Heli takes 1min15sec, the peacemaker take 1min 11 sec if driven pretty well but the vortex and temptress take 1min and 3 sec if driven well so between the peacemaker and Heli it is preference but if you get a temptress or vortex driving is the better option

The yellow line is a new gangbang driving route not only is it 15 secs quick it is far safer as less road blocks spawn and it is basically straight lines. Another little improvement I have found for that mission is that when you go to the police car instead of going through the doors leading outside go to the corner of the room just to the right of the doors and you can clip through the wall into the car.

The blue line is a new route for my name is Cyrus Temple it is a good 20secs plus quicker and like the new gangbang route it is safer as you don’t need to make turns in areas with quite a bit of traffic.

The orange line is a new route for Steelport here I am time wise it is pretty even with the old route over the bridge but the real upside is the potential to get better cars. Up to now the peacemaker was the go to car and if you were blessed you may get a temptress or vortex with the newer route the peacemaker is still the standard car but there is a far greater chance of a temptress or vortex and an outside chance of getting an attrazione.

The purple marks on the map are areas with heli spawns I try using them but they are always slower overall as getting to them often means going away from the destination and their speed isn’t quick enough to make up for it

Also a couple of options on the route that does speed it up but does increase the chances of ending a run somewhat:

During we’re going to need guns instead of running straight to the car parked for you go right there are cars closer and there is a good chance to get a better car than the one provided, I often end up with a torch.

After Trogon Whores fly to Ho trafficking, then do Escort and Save + load as normal then do Snatch with your saved car. This route is quicker by a good 30-40sec but carries a large risk of having to do snatch in a car. If you are good at driving it is equally as quick in a car the issue is that traffic along the route is beyond bad and if you are lucky enough to get a 2 door car you have to rely on the ho’s teleporting which is don’t by slowing down. It is very possible to get it to work but practice will be needed. 

With these changes got a run of 3:37 IGT getting an attrazione with new drive route in Steelport here I am.

I do. At least I'm trying. But that game is far not as fun to speedrun as playing normally or speedrun the Third.
It's too straightforward. There's no option what mission you do except when you go fro your homies but all of those mission starts from the same spot.
Too many cutscene which you can't skip due all of them have at least a minimal button smashing part.
You can go with superpowers or you can get a Void. Going with powers are more fun to be honest but harder and slower. Taking the Void is less fun due it can destroy everything and makes every mission in the main simulation too easy, but it's faster.

But there's a therad about the game in this forum if you interested or want to discuss the game more. That's a better place to do it Smiley

Slightly new route for the 1st hour of the game which take off about 2-3 mins in travel time and simplifies the driving routes.

And a couple of new strats;

During return to steelport after destroying the carts instead of taking the car provided run to the road and call for vehicle delivery to drive to Angel’s gym

During stop all downloading; As soon as you drop Kenzi off at the 3 router get back in your car and drive of the nearby Clift into the water and then warp to shore. This will put you and Kenzi down the road from where the heli will pick you up. Kenzi will still be doing the animation of hacking you can either get into a car and push her to the drop point, as she is ridged or you run to the board of where you abandon her and just as the bar fill run to the point to trigger than run back in range to not abandon her.

Also there are now 4 checkpoints that it is faster to quit and restart the mission from checkpoint than to drive or fly there 1 is during Convoy decoy after you destroy the crates at the airport quit and restart the mission from checkpoint and you’ll be at the park for the next part (credit to gonfgc). 2 is during Live with Killbane after you fill the van bar quit and restart the mission from checkpoint and you’ll be at the radio tower. 3 and 4 are during Remote start after you destroy the car at the gas station restart the mission from checkpoint and you’ll be at the boat you need to destroy next. Then after you destroy the boat quit and restart the mission from checkpoint and you will be at the heli you need to crash. It also works after crashing the heli but doesn’t save time so is pointless. For all of them wait until it says you have reached the checkpoint otherwise it will take you back to the previous ones.

At stop the downloading, is it really worth to do that trick with Kinzie? She will finish hacking anyway and the helicopter is on a timer so you need to way until the heli lands. But correct me if i'm wrong.

I'm thinking that also worth to checkpoint warp between the Heli and the Tank dude during Remote Chance. The reload of the state is really short. Not sure it is affected by an SSD or not. It's not as much as the other two before the mission but at least as much as during Convoy Decoy and Live with Killbane.

The time saved doing the trick in stop all downloading is in cutting out the time travelling to the checkpoint to trigger the start of the timer that brings the heli. Basically it cuts out the drive from the 3rd hacking terminal to the heli landing location which is only 10-15 secs max but still a decent chunk of time from a mission that is pretty much out of our control to complete in a way that gains time.
The way you were driving to the water for the trick was incorrect which was why the bar had filled so much you are meant to go through the gap to the left which will give you a straight drive off the Cliffside into the water Tyr does it well in his 3:57:59 pb may be worth watching that to see how he does it.
You are correct the times you load from check point in Remote Chance are from the petrol station to the boat (normally a 1min 10 flight and it takes 16-20 secs to reload) and then from the boat to the heli (normally a 33 sec flight but takes 16-20 sec to reload). The third possible time is from the heli to the tanks but it does not save time as the game circles you around again and wastes time (normally a 36 sec flight takes 16-20 secs to reload then there is the circle around taking 20ish secs making it not worth it).
Remember you have to wait to reload after checkpoint points reached comes up it is possible to reload too quickly and take yourself back to the previous section.

There are also a few minor improvements to the run all from the idea of traffic spawn control during autoscroller type missions.

When you are not driving a car, cars will only spawn in your field of view this can be use to keep the roads in front of your homie’s car clear reducing them crashing and swerving and therefore saving time by up to 2mins over 5 missions basically making the autoscroller work how they should.

On the 2 escort mission turn the camera to face into the windscreen then raise it so you are looking down on the car, this is so the least amount of road is visible, you’ll notice that the amount of car that spawn in front of you is negligible when combined with the fact enemy cars make you homie drive quicker it speeds up the mission quite a bit. The enemies shooting
you are not an issue as the car you are given is seeming fully upgraded in durability.

During heli assault if you don’t look in the direction where you homie is driving cars will not spawn in her way leaving the roads clear it will also tend to spawn enemies behind. I basically keep the camera in a way that the homie’s car is on the edge of the screen.

And during the guardian angel’s the same idea as heli assault keep the homie’s car on the edge of the screen though the enemies spawns are fixed so you may have to look where the homie is driving at times.

I have mainly worked on the 100% route I have the Pierce’s section and Angel’s section done as well as the last 1 or so hourof the game which is basically any% route with 2nd ending tacked on. I need to finished Zimso’s and kenzi’s sections. I have most of it done but there are a few bit that are messy and I feel can be better.

I got a run of 6:32:xx and want a sub 6:30. If you ever want the updated route asks and I’ll post it.

I found a menu exploit from Saints Row: The Third that allows you to upgrade guns for much cheaper than normal. Was this known? If not, I figure it could be useful.

Thanks for posting this after a few try I managed to get it consistently on Xbox 360 it is going to be pretty useful in speeding up the early missions, the brute in Steelport here I am will be less of a pain now. In the previous route we would get the fully upgraded pistol during Takeover the city so it was pretty early anyway but it will help us with getting other upgrades which were delayed in order to get the pistol done. A min or 2 can be saved using this.

I feel old
