I bet you can beat it back pretty quickly though, I messed up a ton at the very end.

Congrats, andrewg! What is the final time? I'll be looking forward to watching it. Are you going to submit the run as soon as possible?

I'm really rusty at Rush 'n Attack, but the game is really fun to speedrun, so I might try to beat your time at some point.

By "few seconds" do you mean like three seconds or like twenty seconds? Or are you going to let it be a surprise? Either way, I'm really looking forward to seeing this run. I hope you submit it soon.

It's about 5 seconds. I probably will submit this run soon and later have an updated run. (This is what happens to all the runs I do)

I think it will be a 9:48, but it could be as low as a 9:46, I had a quick timing of it and my VCR has some lag.

I messed up a lot at the end probably at least 5 seconds Sad

and probably a couple more in levels 3 and 5.

I made up most of the time in level 2 and 5 which I played very well. (mainly better boss battles)

This boss battles is important. And off course luck-based IIRC.

5 seconds sounds good. Specially when VGMRs run where pretty smooth.

I also watched you new SMB run Andrew. Im glad that you keep pushing the record. It is a great record. Good luck if you keep trying for the improvement you talk about. And I want to see a Wall jump next time! Kiss

heh... that run wasn't too great. I really want it to go down to at least 19:20 eventually.

vgmr's run looks better than mine because I make many mistakes towards the end, but everything else went pretty well.

andrewg, too bad about the final boss because your run is really impressive, especially stage two. I like how you used that grenade during the second boss fight. You have some lightning-quick knifing skills. You had some creative uses for the grenades. And the way you killed the grenade-holding guy in stage five was a surprise to me.

This is such a great game for a speedrun.

I wonder if it'll get a mention in the next update. For those who don't know, I submitted a rush 'n attack run that I thought was about 5 seconds faster than vgmr's run, only to find out that I timed my run wrong and that my time is a 9:53. Meaning that my run tied vgmr's.

My run is posted at archive.org if anyone is interested in seeing a very fast run with a very bad ending.

Wow. A timing error. That sucks. Nice run either way. Knowing you, you'll come back and crush this time if there is room to spare. And you've said there is.

edit: I just watched it. You must have stopped the time on the final shot and it looks like time ends when you no longer have control. Am I right?

Yeah, I didn't know you could move when it started blowing up. I think the TAS actually threw me off. :/

LOL nice, I was actually thinking about doing a run of this a while ago, but then I noticed there already was a pretty descent one of it.
So I figured I wouldn't bother and focus on something else.

I always thought this was a pretty funny game.
The name itself says it all actually.

Are there even games now that have puns like that? xD
I love propaganda games xD

Level 6 - I hate the final part of this game (I'm awful at it)

EDIT: I feel like I just keep getting really unlucky. Stupid enemies keep spawning in places they usually don't or like an enemy fires it's weapon, but he never has before. Sad

EDIT2: I totally got everything down now except for the final fight. My level 5 boss fight is really great now too. 8)

Wow... I think I found some guy who actually has a slightly better time than myself? Possibly... Shocked

I don't think the runs he has are tool assisted, they don't appear to be. I could be wrong though. Maybe they are tool assisted, I can't tell.

EDIT: Actually... now I;'m fairly certain his runs are tool assisted? What do you guys think?

Seeing as how he just removed your comment instead of replying, I'm guess he doesn't want people to know it's TASed. If nothing else, the end of level 3 looks like he's using turbo. Level 4, I'm not sure how scripting or random the boss fight is, but he's jumping to kill guys that aren't even on the screen yet. Although, not as smooth looking as the TAS on tasvideos.org, I don't think he's playing legitimately, although I haven't played this game before.

I actually removed my own comment because I messed it up. Because I think it's a TAS, I changed my mind on what I wanted to write.

I'm sure that time is doable though, so it could have been done in realtime. If he played it enough he would know when and where to jump (the first guy almost always is in the same position) in the lvl 2 boss fight.

My run is very close to that time though which is interesting. I still think It's a TAS though. I think it was done at least with an emulator, and most likely they used rerecords.

My feelings on The Demon Rush

The only thing that looked shady to me was how the guy handled each ladder perfectly. I'm saying this because I suck at ladders.

Yeah, the ladders are awful... But it can be done. There were just a few parts that it seemed like he was too risky or something. I mean he played nearly flawless.

I can't actually remember if I messed up any of the ladders in the speedrun I did. I feel like I messed up on one ladder, but I may not have messed up on any.

His timing seems to be completely arbitrary too. The final shot is made at 9:47 on the youtube video. I'm guessing that's not a coincidence. I mean, I would think he'd want some accurate times. Not just use what the youtube video ends with for the final time no matter how the beginning starts off (at a title screen or halfway through a title screen)

His fight against the final boss wasn't that great. He should have been jumping to catch the bazookas earlier.
