Are there any runs that require players to buy extra hardware? Extra controllers, peripherals, consoles even?

I think it's cool even though it creates a bit of a paywall. Just a bit if the hardware tends to be old.
Thread title:
The Wind Waker has tuner runs, which require a gameboy something or other (the handheld Ninty console around 2002) and a connection cable to link it to the Gamecube. In addition, Twilight Princess HD 100% runs are of two forms, the first which bans all Amiibo and the second which allows all Amiibo (and requires the Wolf Link Amiibo). There's others out there, these are just two I can think of off the top of my head at 4am.
There are also PC games which depend on very high fps.
No, the OTHER Marvel!
What come to mind immediately are light gun games.  There are some NES games which require the zapper.  Some like Bayou Billy have the zapper as optional, but it's faster than manually scrolling a crosshair on the screen.  There are also some games on the SNES which require the Super Scope to run.  And of course, both would require a CRT TV to function at all.
F*ckin' sanity effects...
I hear getting equipment for doing good-quality recordings of portable games is expensive/a pain in the ass.
