I don't know how much speed could be put into the early levels, but as the levels get more difficult, it could be interesting to watch and difficult to get faster times, since at times you may have to stop attacking it so that you can move faster to avoid the bullets.

Anyone else think this would be a neat game to see a few speed runs of? There are also multiple modes, so one might be more suited to doing quickly than the others.

In game there is a timer that starts at the beginning of each stage. It times from when you start a stage and the boss appears, pauses at the mid-way point, then ends after the stage is complete.(5 stages in a level) So the total time could be the sum of the in game timer times, which I *think* would compensate for the lag which is experienced due to the large number of objects being rendered.

There is no victory without combat
isn't rRootage a Freeware Game? I think it will not be posted on SDA, for Freeware Games there are other sites, but don't ask me which... . Although I would watch it if you post it in the Forum...
Ah, good point. I just read the FAQ again and I noticed that it said games by major publishers for PCs or consoles.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
rRootage is only about avoiding the missiles. You can shoot without any interruption, so, if you don't die, your time will be optimal.

Pif is not quite right; the closer you are to the enemy ship, the more damage you do with your beam. So, it is optimal to stand in it, which is of course very difficult.

I play rRootage for points only, though. I modified rR to record and playback demos; I'll link the exe file here if I can find it.

I was not aware about that rule. A run sounds really interesting.
Luc is really good at this game, i think he will enjoy running it.
Ah, it would be great if you could find the modified program. Recording it at the moment makes it unbearably slow when there are lots of bullets, on an old computer.
Let's fight to computer!
In addition to the "no freeware" rule, SDA also has an informal "no shmup" rule, since as a whole they don't really lend themselves to speedrunning. That said, I would definitely be interested in seeing high-level rRootage videos, since the game is rather awesome.
