My 2 cents:

I would prefer Option 2. Admittedly I'm not significantly impacted since I haven't bought flight tickets yet and I can probably move my approved vacation days appropriately (though it'll be annoying and I'm not sure if I can guarantee that with my boss). However, I know quite a few runners who flat out can't go if they have to reschedule their flights and/or vacation time.

Furthermore, I feel like if the marathon is extended for a day, it can help compensate for not having a Saturday finale (though not completely). I don't think runners would mind having a longer marathon either because it means more games Tongue (though it would require even more sacrifice on the staff/tech's end)
I just like stuff.
I don't have a preference for either, since I have not made any travel arrangements yet. I'd probably go with option 1 since you said Saturday finishes make the most money, though. But personally, either option works for me.
steak Steak STEAK!!!
I cannot do option 1, as I will have to grade finals May 8-11.  If this option is chosen, I will respectfully have to bow out and withdraw my submissions.  Unfortunately, the chances of me getting out of this are essentially zero.
I'd prefer option 1, but will be there either way

I'd opt for Option 2 due to finals being done during the week of Option 1, the same reason I had to bow out last year. I'll respect any decision you guys make.
The best way out is always through!
Either option is fine for me, since I have not booked my flight yet. I'm also not running anything, so if I can't make it for some of the days (if at all), it's not going to have an impact on the marathon.
I would prefer option 1 for that saturday finale, but option 2 would not be a problemfor me either for attending.
Sega Saturn Speedrunner
Either option bears no impact on my attendance, but option 1 seems to be the best for the marathon.
I would personally prefer option 2, but I understand the merits of option 1.

I think option 1 is significantly better - not only is option 2 significantly hurt charity-wise by no saturday finale, but needing to end the final run early enough for completing teardown by midnight on friday seems like it would suck, a lot.

I was swayed by various arguments, see my other post on page 3.
I will be attending/assisting regardless. I don't have a preference, but if Option 1 would be more beneficial for the marathon, I would also want to lean towards that.
I do not have a preference as I would be able to make either time frame of the marathon, but if I were to choose an option it would be option 1 due to it being easier on staff and allows them plenty of time for setup and tear down.
Having a time crunch for strike would be a terrible ending to what is most assuredly going to be a great week. For me personally, option 1 would also be easier to schedule with my work.

That said, I plan to attend whatever the choice, and help with the tech if able.
I can make either week most likely, so I'd go with probably option 1 due to how important Saturday is
Personally, I would prefer option 2 just for the sake of Finals for several people and having that extra 15 hours.  It also works much better with my work schedule. But of course I can see the merits of both options.
just chose either option you think will be the best, i can move my days off work for the event without problems.
So my thoughts as lowly as they are

option one is best for tech and for North americans who have a significantly easier time making the trip but loses 15 hours which for this marathon is a big deal this is the best though for charity and for staff which in the end is what rpglb is a charity event BUT

Its also a speedrunning gathering and option 2 some people will have tickets booked allready and even though it sounds like a tech nightmare to break down and set up with those time constraints the people who not doing option 2 effects is probably the group that is MOST dedicated to the event as they before knowing who was running if they were running etc allready booked the trip they obviously are dedicated to the event.

I personally am unaffected by the decission but want the best for the staff and the charity so option 1 is my choice but Option 2 seems way better for the community.
My personal preference is for option 2, since it took me a great deal of effort to be able to get the original dates off from work, had made reservations for rooms, and bought plane tickets.  It's impossible for me to change my vacation; I was very lucky to get it in the first place, and there's no way I can go back on it at this point.  It's literally the busiest time of year for my job, short of some cataclysmic event.
The Wayward Wanderer
Either or would work for me, I can get either set of days off.

I have a slight preference towards option 1, but am not significantly affected by the ultimate decision.

Why Hello it is Me
I'll go with Option 2 for personal and community reasons. I understand the implications of not closing on a Saturday, but I feel that runners who submitted games would be hurt the most by moving the marathon dates a week back, and I feel that may impact the quality of the schedule in the end if people have to withdraw on account of a week shift preventing their availability to go. Also I'm inclined to wonder, have there been marathons which showed a significant drop off in donations when the marathon ended on a Friday? There are a decent number of people who donate just because it's the end of the marathon, and not necessarily due to what day of the week it is (bear in mind this is just me thinking aloud, and don't have a lot of knowledge on charity drives myself).

I think between these two options I much prefer the latter. Option 2 also happens to work out much better for me in some ways. And if teardown is something that requires haste, then, if I am able to be there for the end of the marathon I would also happily help with teardown if possible and I think many others would be willing to help.

I respect whichever decision the committee makes however, as I understand that there are pros and cons to each, especially considering that extra time is more work on volunteers and staff.
My personal preference is Option 2 for a couple reasons. The first reason being I know of a lot of people who have purchased plane tickets, hotel reservations, and taken time off of work for the advertised week. Keeping it as close as possible to those dates I think is most beneficial for that reason. In addition, I feel like there are a lot of submissions that may have to be rescinded by a week change like that. There are advantages and disadvantages to both options, but I think while Option 2 creates some complications and pressure for the staff for a quick and complication free teardown it is the better option for the attendees.

Either way I will be in attendance, but I already have the week off of work for the original dates and while I don't foresee myself having issues changing that week I imagine it's not quite as easy for a lot of other people who had the same foresight as myself to ask for work off in advance.
I'll be able to attend either way, so I'll defer to others. I do agree we should give weight to what's best for the charity - but the devil's advocate in me wonders how much of the last-day donation rush comes because it's a Saturday and how much comes just because it's the last day of the marathon.
I would be unlikely to be able to attend with Option 2 because of work. I can make Option 1.
I think Option 2 is the way to go.
