The Roxio Game Capture never entered my mind as a device for buying, mainly due to SD 480p recording but recently it seems there is a new product from Roxio in town.

The Roxio Game Capture HD, to say the least I was all: Dis r relevant to my interests.

We actually have HD recording (albeit upto 1080i) this time.... but I don't know much else.

It SEEMS to be a DirectShow device (judging by a review that said you could use XSplit and the older Roxio was an XSplit device) so whether Amarec/Virtualdub can see it or not is another matter and what colorspace it uses, could be amazing if we can lossless from this. If anyone has one I'd really like to know and collaborate on some testing.

It doesn't actually mention Wii on the box there but it can do 480i and p.

Can it be used to capture NES or SNES?

Only component and HDMI inputs unfortunately. Sad
HELLO!
So run NES through an upscaler with component out.
My old Dazzle DVC100 doesn't seem to be supported for Windows 8. The greedy bastards want $20 to ask a technical question aswell. So there will probably never be support for the Dazzle for Windows 8.
It can be installed (the drivers) but it can't be found in Virtual Dub.
it's not a 32 versus 64 bit issue is it?
It says it's installed. and it shows in device manager.. but VirtualDub won't show it in either 64bit version of program or 32bit version. Sad

So I'm thinking about getting one of those Roxio HD thingies. But I'm questioning the ability to record old video game systems like NES, SNES, MegaDrive etc.

Well I just ordered an expensive upscaler (http://retrogaming.hazard-city.de/framemeister.html) @ around 300 euro, may god have mercy upon me and not make me have a bunch other stuff I need to pay. Like breaking down computer or car or something similar. Also ordered a Roxio HD now.

Looking forwards to recording my old video game systems in high quality! Smiley
HELLO!
Wow, good luck. I just used a DVD recorder for that purpose. Smiley
I hope you'll be using RGB with the Framemeister Wink

That's the quality you can expect with RGB on a 1CHIP SNES: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3459629/videos/yoshi.mp4 (I used the internal Micomsoft card, but the result with their upscaler and HDMI capture should be close)
