IsraelID says the time freeze items are all okay to abuse for IGT improvement; Marble Blast Gold uses a similar mechanic and that one's accepted as well. But for SDA purpose, the framerate lag wouldn't be acceptable. Hopefully I can find a way to eliminate it on my end.
New 2-player run. This time we tried easy mode (I already told you about it but this time we have the video) :
19:41 with a 1 minute loss during the 5th stage (lagging issues, I couldn't use the telepoter, the game told me there still was an ennemy left)

Anyway :
Another SDA run where the in-game time is used even though the in-game time can be reduced by bonuses is Dynamite Jack. In fact, the in game time for some Dynamite Jack levels is negative!
We (Gentlestorm and I) managed to complete a nice run on normal mode :
Co-op - 2 Bandits - Normal Mode - 17mn23 ingame time. We're uploading the video and we'll give the real time when it's done. So happy, and there's a lot of room for improvment. We didn't have usable objects to fight Providence quicker, but we did  sub-20 in normal mode, which is very cool Cheesy Video incoming
Have you two tried out any different class combos? Bandit+Sniper, Huntress+Sniper, 2xHuntress?

We tried two huntresses but we had no life (She starts with 90 HP and the Bandit starts with 115 HP for example). We died multiple times against Providence. That's a good class I think, and no doubt that people will do very nice runs with her in the future.

We also tried 1 Bandit/1 Sniper but the sniper is a pure loss of time : he can't kill all the ennemies before the end of the countdown. He's only useful against Providence. Unless you manage to master the sniper really well and don't loose time on the 5 first stages trying to kill every ennemy on the map, I think he is useless for SR purposes.

We finally tried 1 Bandit + 1 Huntress but, one of us always died before the final boss. The Huntress's too weak and have way less life than other classes.

EDIt : Here is our 17mn23 run

So yeah, good job to Onin submitting his inaccurate run to The Sunday Sequence Break.

Good job there, using in-game time to show off your run that can't be measured like that after we literally told you here.

Way to go champ
You had two weeks to improve it. 's not my problem you can't break sub-20.

Its not my fault your 30 minute run is a "20'06"

How about you get a non shit setup and set an actual run
I am not the only person so have said that you can't use the ingame timer but if you want to pretend that you have a world record when everyone else knows you don't then go ahead.
"Flying" Armor
So, if anyone needs to know how something functions codewise, I may be able to help.
I got the source code by decompiling the game.
Wilbo : about your comment on our youtube video, we don't use any items that can affect the in-game timer. But we also calculated the real-time and it's one second faster 17:22

So IGT : 17:23
and RTA : 17:22

We will use a real timer next time I think, but since we don't have any drops of framerate our initial IGT was accurate.
Nevertheless I think using Real Time is the best option here because of the Time Keeper's Secret item. It is used automatically when you're at low health unlike the Unstable Watch that you have to use (and can choose not to use in order not to affect the in-game time)

Onin : Wilbo is right, your run is no good. You spent 30mn because your framerate was so low. It's more accurate to use real time

ForOhFor Error : Hmm let me think about it, but YEAH that would be very interesting to know how the game works. Is there a pattern on where the teleporters are placed depending on your spawn point on the map ? Are there any differences in terms of speed between the 10 playable classes ? I don't know. Someone has another idea about what we could look into in order to help us run the game ?

Yeah Mauvais I was just making sure you guys knew to use Real time.

Your co-op runs are mad fast, its very impressive to watch
Don't worry, we got that IGT was not accurate at all. Have you managed to beat your PB ?

Yeah that's the first one we did sub-20 and it 17:22 ! We were not surprised but that was an impressive time indeed. I think we could easily go sub-15 but we would have to get each an OP usable item. Meteorite is pretty effective, but in our last run I had no use item and GentleStorm had the Lantern. We both had the Unstable Watch but chose not to use it.

But now we agreed to use Real Time I think the Watch could be the best item out there. I mean, we both had the watch (we could both have had the watch* don't know if that sentence is English though :D) and if we used it on Providence when his shield is down, we could have dealt ('deal" does that mean "take" or "do" here ?) some serious damage. Our run was good, but the last fight was pretty slow I think. And we had poor luck finding the 3rd teleporter.

I've been working on improving my PB
I have started using the Huntress lately because she can be really beastly and I don't lost drones on her but my other PB has some amazing items so it is not going to be easy to beat.
I must train, I got a sub 30 but I m so far ! I must unlock the items...Meteor is impressive oO

Et Mauvaisvitrier, bravo pour le 17:22 ! : D Temps ig ou pas m'en tape c'est un temps de tueur =)

The Meteor item is quite OP indeed. At first it was our objective. We tired to get two meteorites in order to kill Providence, but we sometimes took too much damages ourselves using it, so we dropped the idea.

Grosjaune : on va essayer de parler anglais ici quand même Smiley

And to answer you, as we said earlier : using the real time is the only way to know for sure how long it took you to finish the game. For example Onin had an in game time of ~20mn although his real time was ~30mn. His PC couldn't handle the game so he was way below 60 fps causing the timer to slow down too.

I don't if you've found other speedruns on the internet, but I didn't see anyone getting below sub-20 (solo & co-op) beside GentleStorm & I.

Maybe because of the RNG, people don't find it attractive enough to run it

Sorry to disappoint, but finding anything in Game Maker script is pretty difficult, and I cannot find any teleporter spawning code. I have, however, found out about the room versions.

Each of the first stages have 3 versions, with slight variations between them. All other stages have only 2 versions, while the final stage seems to have only one version (and one labeled "_test", which I don't think loads?)

I could probably cobble together some maps of the areas, but it would take a good bit of work. I don't have the time at the moment, but I can give anyone instructions on how to  decompile it into the source, and view the maps from there.

Have you found any information about a teleporter that would be in the very last stage (the one with Providence) ? Because there is one hidden on the very top left of the screen, and on which you can climb if you have enough jump height. Is it useful or not ?

If you guys have any questions feel free to ask, I'm all out of them right now. I can't think of anything that could help us in a speedrun
ps: I've tried running the game by myself, and kept the reflexes I had gottent running it in co-op. Almost no items, get as quickly as possible to the next level but I always get crushed.

I have to find a way to get some very good items, even if that means spending a lot more time on each level.. I don't know, how do you do it Wilbo ?

What I do really is if weaker enemies spawn in my path whilst I am looking for the exit then I will take them out real quick for money.
Hit the teleporter as fast as I can and try to get all nearby items.
Its just RNG really and its what the whole game is so we just have to do what we can.

Yeah I've started using that technique too. I think Will-o-the-whisp is essential to a good SR, it's pretty effective and its AOE is excellent.

I saw the teleporter there, yes (It's on an invisible platform 3 tiles wide). What should happen is that, upon activation, it attempts to find the a stage 7 (the final level is, helpfully, r6_1_1) and its data, fails, and presumably crashes the game. That's untested, but if you actually managed to activate that teleporter, it will probably be what happens.

In fact, it won't even try to find such a room, it would probably crash on trying to find the number of "versions" of stage 7, which doesn't exist.

What would certainly not happen is it taking you to the escape cutscene (r2Cutscene2).

I can't test it because I can only run a buggy test level, due to some unknown issue that freezes the modified game.

Well, this is a thing:
http://riskofraingame.com/risk-of-rain-patch-v1-0-2/

The patch notes don't say it but I'm pretty sure the Providence glitch got fixed. I'll try to get a run going to double-check.

The game has been ruined. Brilliant Behemoth actually working on Acrid is going to be nice though

What could take us to the escape cutscene ? hidden trigger maybe somewhere or anything else ? or is it just inside the boss's room that we can activate that trigger ?

Onin : I don't think that this is a glitch, you're just abusing his AI, like you can do it with most of the ennemies. You couldn't fix though since it's linked to the Bandit turning invisible? You'd have to modify this in order to fix that Providence non-glitch. That's what I think, but I may be wrong
