So I got my mitts on Risen. I hadn't even heard of the game until a few days ago. I played both the demo and the full version. It's quite fun and I recommend it. It has numerous flaws, and has tons of potential for skips and glitches because the game just isn't super polished. If you guys haven't checked it out, apparently it's on Steam now (the demo and the full game). So that's a worthy DL source (2-3MB/s).

If anyone has found any useful glitches I would say post them here. I will do so as I find them throughout the game. I would start by saying that abusing the AI is definitely a place to start.

I've shortcuted a number of quests by beating the shit out of an NPC, letting them kill me (you actually just get knocked out if it's a friendly NPC), robbing them of whatever I need, and then waiting a few seconds, getting up, and continuing like it never happened.

I haven't even stepped into the magic-usage scene yet, but it seems promising. There are some unique spells like making an NPC laugh and forget about the horrible things you've done to them or their family. I'm sure any of you can see the potential in that.
Thread title:
But don't forget that Risen will sure get a patch or two in the near future, which may also change the balacne of the game, so you should be a bit patient with making routes.

Here are three useful glitches that had been found so far:
1.
As I wrote in the comments I could summon a second skeleton and if you could reproduce this glitch indefinitely you could have an (imbalanced) skeleton army.
2. The collision with walls seems to be missing at some points making you walk through air.

The potential of that is obvious.
3. Teleporting on a higher level or top of a building

Seems to work with only a few rooms and I don't know if any of them is useful.

If you can speak German you must check out this page: http://risenbugs.borsal.de/view_all_bug_page.php
It tracks all known glitches in Risen (to help the developers fix them) and I've read many potentially useful things there:
1. walking through closed grids
2. 2nd chapter quests in chapter 1
3. being in several guilds at once
4. http://risenbugs.borsal.de/file_download.php?file_id=162&type=bug
picking up an item through a wall
5. getting into the volcano fortress (right name?) without recuitment
6. getting the shield bonus indefinitely often (becoming invincible, but very slow)

But keep in mind that most of these will not really be useful in a speedrun and may be fixed by a patch.

I went to the final room as it is the most impressive for a video, but of course better things could be done.
I experimented, but found no way to open the gate so that the final boss is spawned, but that's due to my lazyness. I'm sure there is a way.

What I know:
1. The ghost (dunno his English name) gives you the quest to kill his 3 subordinates and gives you his head.
2. Mendoza spawns in front of the last drawbridge if you enter the room you usually enter as a snail (whatever they're called in the English version).
3. If you place the heads on the altars Mednoza speaks either of the ghost or nothing at all. However in both cases neither the boss spawns nor are new dialogues unlocked. (but I'm sure there's a way to do this)
nice vid, but i don't think this will lead to a great shortcut, because the titan will spawn in chapter 4 only, and you cannot enter chapter 4 without being in chapter 3 and so on and so on...
eventually you will have to do most mainquests anyway.

Haha, awesome videos. They show good examples of how this game is pretty breakable. I hope someone eventually takes a shot at a run. Thanks for posting those up.
It's a shame that nobody decided to speedrun this awesome game :c
Still. Not. Bitten.
Well, I might start to run it. I'm surprised that this game is so unexplored. Hopefully its going to change soon. Smiley

First of all I want to say that this is an older version (1.0.94946.0) I don't know what is possible on the newest version, but it'd be awesome if someone would try this out.

I did some shenanigans in Vulcano Keep an found some things out:

1. You can enter through a part in the wall fairly easy when dashing into it.
2.Jumping while out of bounds gets you stuck and you have to forcequit the game.
3.You can walk around, but you get popped back up when you walk into a wall thats above you.
4.Sometimes this can be prevented with dashing.
5.When you save&Load you get back inbounds directly above or under you.

Then I went to the Bandit Camp and found an huge OoB spot.
With the Save&Load trick you can get to the Titan Room. I wonder what would happen if I were Level 1.

You can actually walk from the Bandit Camp to Vulcano Keep which is amazing.

There is an old Speedrun from 2009 with some neat tricks in it, we can use this as a baseline if we really want to start running the game.

Hopefully I can revive this game. If you want to see this happening please respond and help.
