Veni, Vidi, Vici.

I'm going to be attempting a run with Chris on REmake. I'll be trying to improve the 1:55 run already up.

Any tips?

I'd suggest looking at the run by Shawn Jones (Jill run) for some essential tactics if you haven't already, such as the best ways to finish puzzle rooms, dodging Lisa, etc. other than those from Jill's that are applicable to a Chris run, you may have to find tactics for situations that are particular to Chris yourself unless somebody has something good to contribute here.

Yeah. I checked the Jill and Chris run. And its helped alot, just curious though if anyone's got any other tips that can help.

I was considering to try and do it with Jill, but when I saw 1:29:47, I was blown away and decided it would me MUCH easier to attempted an improved version of a Chris run.

Anyone else got any tips?

Of course it's easier to improve the Chris run, but you should try getting the same quality (or better of course) as the Jill run, so I hope you mean by blown away that it would be impossible for you to improve (not saying that the Jill run wasn't very good).

Hey. I guess I might have to bug my sister to defend the title huh? Grin

I've told her she should try for an improvement before, but I don't think she wants to.

As for tips, I have none, other than the stair trick obviously. I'm pretty much Resident Evil (the original and remake) illiterate. If it was 3, that'd be a different story.

Well, if it's your sister's run, I must say it's a good run, and most of what I do is basically what she did, only attmepting to do it faster and try to go a different path (or at least slightly different), so it's not just me doing her run but faster. (Wanna keep it original to SOME extent.)

If I knew how to get it off of a VHS and onto my computer (I'm embarresed that I don't know how to do this) I'd be able to show you my first segment.

I've been planning to do this in 8-10 segments.

that'll start you out with the capturing. in my opinion you wouldn't need an All-In-Wonder ATI card, though, if you're not too concerned with video quality as I explained in the "ideal capture cards" thread.

anyway - the Chris run might be considerably longer than Jill's, but I'd suggest gauging the difficulty as well as possible to determine whether so many segments are necessary. REs seem to be customarily 'runned' in a single segment if not as few segments as possible (except for RE4).

Hmmm... well, I did a run and got about 0:03:46 minutes longer than the current one up, so I'll have to go back in and shave a few things.

If the current is 1:55:37
Mine was 1:59:23

I got a nice Anti-Tank Rocket Launcher in the process, though. Grin

I can have a video of the longer 1:59:23 up tomorrow, but I think I may have to go back to Seg. 3 and touch up (That's where I had the most mistakes)

in a rocketlauncher run with chris i got 1h37m.... isnt there a chris run on this site just about 1h38m default settings?

if not then i think my rocketlauncher runs pretty good...

i was sitting around and i remember i ran through it with chris knife only run... 1h56m.... so a normal run should be alot faster then that...

Well... I beat teh current time. By one second literally. And being such a long game and only 1 second difference, Radix refused it (No surprise).

Well, a retry got me 15 seconds faster, but no response from Radix yet.

Hey. Competition is a good thing in most cases, as it makes you work harder and accept less mistakes.

Then again, sometimes it kills your attempt because you know someone else is going to do much better.

That would be me right about now, lol.

Anyway, I think I'll gonna take a 1-day brake and then start over. The best I can get is 1:55:18 with my current set up. And I doubt Radix will accept the run, being only 19 seconds faster. Sad

I know for a fact that the self-defense gun kills Neptune in one shot without having to waste 7 or 8 seconds to push the controller in to electrocute him, but is it known if the self-defense gun 1-shot kills Plant 42 or Tyant?

BTW, Kniferun, are you doing a SS or Segmented run?

well its bin so long i'll be saving and what not in this run...

and i never thought of using the defence gun on anything... i remember about it now though... it does not kill any real boss in one shot...

when u run through... what shotgun do u pick up?

i run the first mansion part knife only... then pick up shotgun in gaurdhouse... which means i cant shoot the elder crimson head...lol

im just curious how u guys do it...

ive started running through just leaving the gaurdhouse... saved for times... but when i get use to it.. it will be 3 saves... the same 3 i use for invisible and normal kniferuns...

and your not doing a very good job at getting a better time... so you might aswell let someone else try...and plus i wont be sending my time in... i just wanna see what the fastest time of completion... and plus it matters how much faster my time is...

and garenteed this first run will be slower the top time right now...its a horrible run... if it is less... my jaw will drop...

i just finished a run...

in which i got

1h48m55s.

i was thinking these times of 1h55m where very slow... but wasnt sure...

i saved 9 times... i fought the dogs for the collar with the knife... i lost my way sometimes.... didnt use defence gun on neptune...which i was thinking the time u take picking it up cancels out the time u save using it.... anyways a very sloppy run...

so less mistakes and less saves like 3....i'll shave atleast 10 minutes off time...
