O i see that would still be pretty hard to do without weapons for that section there is to many of them to just knife and not only that you got that axe guy to deal with.
ok so, 11:46 now on co-op veteran..11 seconds behind the first...did some experimenting today on assembly and it seems that the first part is timed (part where you start in the house and wait for the executioner to come and break the gate). after that, i think killing a certain amount of enemies triggers next one (or waiting, but then again, you can wait through all of it), and the enemies have 2-3 spawning areas at that time. one is near the northern gate (the one kirk blows) and one is near the "tower". me and my co-op friend were positioned at these two locations and just spammed rockets. after awhile, sheva starts to talk, and another spawn location triggers (west, near the exploding barrel), went there and spammed rockets. after that, kirk asks how you're holding up, and if you have killed "all" the enemies by then, roughly 20-30 seconds flies by and kirk blows the gate.

now im not sure this is even the right thing to do, but with this tactic we have a time of 8:38 on chapter 1-1, still we can shave off about 2-3 seconds before coming to the assembly rush.

but then again, it feels like that whole event is somewhat random...

Tried 1-1 again and it seems that spamming rockets is the only option. However i fail to see how me and Alan can be 18 seconds behind the leader. We killed every enemy as soon as they appeared.

There is no 'final time' either, per se... Just an overall time of all scenarios combined. =\

Greg and Alan - How does the weapon system work in Co-op? Do you bring in your own guns, or use the host player's guns?

EDIT: Also, Greg/Alan/Scott/anyone who uses MSN... I got a new MSN address. For some reason, my old one isn't working anymore. Add nightmareepsilon, gmail.

Hey Carcinogen.

They bring in their own weapons.

So if they have inf ammo or whatever, they bring it with them, but only if you have it available too.

You also share inventory space for the storage, and you can't directly give them anything untill you begin to play.

Even then I think the only weapon you can give them are explosives. I haven't tested it.

I think killing Majini does lengthen the time you have to stay, because my wife and I were sniping the spawn points with inf ammo, and we had to wait AGES for the helicopter to show up on veteran. We also killed "big bad and ugly".

Word.

I was really hoping to get some times in on the leaderboards, but school and work are eating my time, hardcore. I probably won't be able to get in on this until, say, Summer.

The amount of British people that have added me to their Live account because of my rank is pretty insane. I think it's like 17 people now. Oh and also i was helping my mate with the Wesker and Jill battle and i was surprised to find that we smoked him and got the cutscene in like under 10 seconds. I spammed him with Magnum bullets but i think 1 well placed RL bullet while his back is turned is the way to go.
Don't add them all... The idiots on XBox Live are exponentially worse than they are on YouTube (well, k, maybe not, but there's a fuckton of 'em), and you can only have like 50 people on your friends list. <_<

So uhh... surely somebody has the PS3 version in here? T_T

me and alan got 11:33 now on chapter 1, and we're gonna leave it now unless someone else gets better. we had a rough try on 2-1, 2-2 and 2-3 (2-3 went very bad, we died 3 times lol :S) getting us a 13:XX on 2-3 ><. anyways, i tried 2-3 again by myself and you just have to pretty much memorize where the motorcycles and trucks come from so that you're prepared, each taking a side. but ye, 2-3 again and it gave me a 6:16 which can def be improved, and placed me 6th on leaderboard, 42 seconds behind the leader. so tomorrow we'll do some serious tries.

EDIT: 6:07 on 2-3, solo

sheva is annoying solo.

I think they bumped it up to 100 a while back in one of the old updates.  Yet I still concur - Remove the unworthy bastards and let them wallow, drown and rot (In any order) in their inadequacy.

/learned that the hard way back in the day...

//has nothing else to contribute.  =(

Do you think Co-op with a human would allow for some activation of cutscene setups?

I know that about half the time if I let my human partner Sheva run forward without me to trigger stuff, I get teleported there, which sucks. Usually I try to find a nice sniper place or a peice of the puzzle to stand next to and perform...doesn't work that way. You get teleported 90 percent of the time.

Finding ways to skip Majini fight cutscenes may be essential, if it's even possible, considering that some environments are perfectly passable untill they decide "none shall pass" and close some random door, gate, or bridge.

Maybe we could also snipe the laser guys early to avoid dodging lasers?

so loading times doesnt add to your final chapter time? or it does?

im surprised to see hardly any other counties in the top 100 in the whole game time. its all asian still pretty much. im 95th now. which i plan to work on. basically get under 2 hours and you hit the top 100 right now.

i have no clue how the top time is sub 1:20. its coop times but still. there is times of just over 1:20 that seem to be solo or split screen.

my next goal is sub 1:45. im just over 1:58 right now.

Most cutscenes do teleport both players to that cutscene part but I do not believe that there is any parts where it would be useful to have one person run and do something (like grab a key) and the other activate the cutscene and catch them both up as usually if there is a teleporting cutscene like that then your only objective is to get to that cutscene.

I don't know of any skippable cutscenes except when you throw the grenade to blow the lock instead of boosting Sheva, but later on in the game some cutscenes can be triggered later than normal.  The area with all the conveyor belts that you have to run across, at the beginning of that room there are only a few guys and they don't notice you or do anything.  If you alert them by shooting or running past (I don't think there is anyway to not alert them) then a cutscene is triggered and tons more guys magically appear.  If you just run past them you can get a bit further before the cutscene activates which would probably make just running past everybody easier.

Something that can be abused but only a little bit is picking up keys.  Once you get a key both people have it.  Two areas I know it could help is right after you fight the first chainsaw majini and he drops the key, have one person run ahead and the 2nd person grab the key.  While the 1st person is unlocking the door and opening it the 2nd person should have caught up (and hopefully timed it right so he doesn't have to open the door again, could just have the 1st person stand in the doorway so it doesn't close) and they both hit the end door at the same time.  Another is right before the first Uroboros fight.  Have one person go and grab the key while the other stands near the door and as soon as the key is grabbed the cutscene is activated.

I'm sure all that is common by now but since it wasn't posted here thought I would post it.
Just got the game and screwed around in 1-1. Is it even possible to do a New Game run after you've gotten past a certain point?

To do a brand new New Game I think you would have to sign in with a different account or delete your RE5 save (which deletes everything).
Ah, that sucks. Concerning 1-1, can you end the chapter more quickly if you somehow manage to kill everything when you're trapped in the courtyard?
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I wish I knew the specifics for getting the knife kill on the final boss.

All I had to do on normal was knife his weak spot, dodge "meat tornado" then grab and let Sheva cut his heart out.

On veteran though, I had to magnum him to death....

WHat are the requirements? I thought it was to get all the uroboros off, but that doesn't seem to be it.
