With the Wesker/Jill fight, just time yourself manually and if you feel the fight is taking too long, just hit reset and try it again.  That way, you don't have to keep doing the whole chapter, just the one part.  Like another person mentioned earlier, the clock resets when you reset the checkpoint. This way, you can also try different weapons and such to see what works best for you against Wesker.

ch 3 = 17:19
ch 4 = 9:26

ch 5-6 soon i guess..

EDIT: co-op veteran with alan
Second Uroboros fight is such a pain in the ass. Does a Rocket Launcher help? I didn't think to buy one.
(Z_Z).z.z.Z
is that the giant shrimp?..if yes, then I have it with a rocket launcher defeated quite easily(^^)
Hey bodgie, what weapons are you running with?
i always have RL and magnum on me and the other weapons vary depending which chapter we're doing. hydra, psg sniper and g.launcher. the g.launcher rounds vary aswell between explosive, nitrogen and flash...oh and hand grenades

and btw, do you really run faster with grenade/stun rod equipped? i tried it today and really it's just the running animation that looks like you're running faster..i dunno
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
WHen I was online, someone performed an INFINITE stun loop on Jill.

Could be very useful for removing that....thing.

Also, has anyone else been using landmines on spawn points for professional?

It saved our buts during the "caged" part on the boat. Killed the dogs that way.

Maybe land mines could be used to instantly handle enemies that must be killed that come from behind?
more keys then pablo escobar
i really need to figure this AI out. they stop and turn millimeters and start running again for no reason so often its annoying.

coop would help this and other parts of the game where 2 people would make it much easier.

but i dont want to become co dependent speed run this game. along with no partner.

so i will have to deal with this horrible AI. people complain about it while just playing. whihc i find it to be fine. but speed running the AI is horrible though.

i'll do a solo run. but i wont be surprised if sda wont seperate solo and coop.

now im just sub 1:50.

cant get 5-2? down correctly if i did i know this could be dropped a few minutes. also 6-3.

i sort of wish re5 had the same sort of thing as re zero. where you could tell your partner to stick or move.

Climb to the top the first tower and take out the enemies on the tower that control the cage and you can just run past that part

Tried that.

My partner would die before I even made it to the next ladder.

Anyway, DON'T try to take the AI through proffessional for a speed run unless you are the most patient person ever.

When you get to Jill and Wesker, no matter what you give them, they will either suicide rush Jill, ( Chris) or they will just get shot and have to be told to move or follow CONSTANTLY (Chris and Sheva).

The AI just loves to suicide into gunfire as well.

I've been doing it and it feels faster but I haven't actually timed it or anything to know for sure.

You can infinitely grab Jill so that she never runs.  After stunning her once by shooting the thing on her chest there is a prompt to throw her.  If you stand behind her and wait she eventually gets unstunned and then starts moving around but for like half a second the prompt changes from "throw" to "grab" again then goes away as she starts moving around.  I don't know if you could do it as soon as you see it because it disappears so fast but you can time it to hit the button while it still says "throw" and it will change to "grab" and you'll actually grab her.  I was able to do it 2 times in a row this way but messed up the 3rd time.  It takes a minimum of 5 shots on Amateur I believe so you'd have to be able to grab her 4 times in a row at least.

And about the "caged" part, are you talking about when the cage drops on one of the characters?  You can stop that by sniping the guy that's next to the button you have to run up and press to remove the cage.  I think there are only two places you can see him from, one is the very top of the mast which would take too long to climb, the other is at the bottom (right at the beginning of the game after you climb the first ladder) you can see his upper half and get a clean shot on him.  There is another guy just down the ladder from that switch but I don't know if you need to kill him or not as I always just did).  I had to kill most of the guys around me quickly then I took the shot so it's very doable on Professional.

Landmines are a good idea to use if you need to crank a switch and hold it for a teammate while enemies are still around.  The only place I can think of where it would be necessary to do this is in the wetlands or whatever where you have to crank the bridge and hold it while your teammate runs across, goes through the door, goes upstairs, and then unlocks the door from you.  When you run for the crank guys will appear and go for the crank guy and a mine or two should keep them back long enough for your teammate to run across.

The AI is incredibly dumb and is why I have to restart most of the time.  I had an incredibly tough time doing chapter 4 because the AI would get hit by the lasers all the time.  What is your 6-3 time?  I got 5'57" on Professional.

I've been doing OK on professional with the AI.  Usually if you can make it through the situation than the AI can as well because most enemies go for you and not the AI so it can just run through like 20 guys and they won't attack it.

im not sure what my 6-3 is. ive done it twice maybe 3 times. im sure it isnt under 6 minutes. i doubt its under 7. i'll save this chapter for when im in the 1:30s. thank you for the sniping strat for the cage part. never thought of it.

it seems sheva is the better charcter to speed run with solo. chris is good at keeping up. i use to think chris was worse. but after a run through with sheva im shaving time more then i was with chris. i need to figure out all the strats these top guys are using. im doing it the way it was meant to.

edit. if you dont run faster with grenades, mines or stun rod. you sure dodge better because you seem thinner or the speed it looks like your going freezes the enemies, i dont know why but you do dodge better. but like past RE's REmake, REzero and RE4 im sure using grenades/unequipping makes you run faster. i might start using mines. ive only tried it with chris and it seems like he's running holding a thin stack of paper plates to a small get together that has cake but a lack of paper plates.

My friend and I just got 1st and 2nd on the Professional Chapter 6 leadboards, that beats the times of Amateur and Veteran too for Chapter 6 but Normal is faster by 23 seconds.

Also while doing the above we discovered that you could rocket the guy at the switch from the very beginning without moving on 6-1 instead of sniping him.

Here is a list of my current best Solo times:

Professional
1-1 8'44" Chris
1-2 3'35" Sheva
4-1 7'35" Chris
4-2 7'29" Sheva
5-1 2'53" Sheva
6-1 5'23" Sheva
6-2 2'40" Sheva
6-3 5'57" Sheva

I haven't messed with the other levels very much and all those levels were done with both Chris and Sheva using the same tactics and most of the time playing as Sheva was faster.
more keys then pablo escobar
your 1-1 and 1-2 times annoy me. lol
I have no idea what the trick is for the end of 1-1, playing as Sheva I got 8'45" so I'm guessing the waiting part was the same and as Chris I was just 1 sec better in running.
more keys then pablo escobar
exactly why it annoys me. i got 8:50. and i cant figure it out. i'll do the exact same but get times like 8:54 or 8:58. im still getting times over 9:00. i was hoping me saying that didnt come out the wrong way.

im also like 20 seconds of your 1-2. and cant figure that out either.

both are straight forward chapters but yet im still doing something incorrect. and this is normal. combined im still more then a minute off the top chapter 1 times on leader boards. and probably even more since i last checked a few days ago.

i still dont get why capcom seperated solo and duo mercs but not main game. maybe because final time would be impossible to seperate. or they didnt want to seperate it completely for each player. but its annoying.

A single rocket launcher takes it down in a second on veteran, I haven't tried it on professional yet though.
1 rocket kills him on professional as well.
Thanks. I'll bring it along next time I fight it.
got chapter 6 done now on co-op veteran with alan, which we can still improve on...

ch 1 = 11:32
ch 2 = 14:19
ch 3 = 17:19
ch 4 = 9:26
ch 5 = 22:29 very bad, we only ran through it once to check what we can do..and we need a good jill strategy aswell...
ch 6 = 11:31

we still have ch 5-2 and 5-3 to do. overall time is gonna be 1:22:XX

about the jill fight...if you feel confident enough of your aim, you should shoot the red thing when your partner holds her..i think that way you get less turns to grab her and rip it off..not sure, gonna try soon

Hello everyone! Smiley
my computer has been totally wrecked since last week so I haven't been able to come on now and talk a lot about RE5 and how awesome it is and what I've done so far, and since I can have some time now since I made it to the library this will be a pretty long post Smiley

okay first off about the game:

1. I loved it Smiley I had to beat it the 2nd day I got it because I played all day until i got to 6-1 the night i got it then I took a break and played until I got to the wesker at 6-3 where you inject the PG67A/W into him. then i thought hmm the game is pretty much over and i sold most of my useless ammo and weapons i didnt need and procceded to think the game was over........ I was terribly wrong. Little did i know there was still the final wesker and then i spent over an hour trying to beat him with just proximity mines and few handgun/Rifle shots i had left *lolz* so yeah after that i was kinda freaking out a bit until the point i accidently saved over leaving me stuck at wesker with just proximity mines 8 rifle bullets and the knife. i flipped out pretty much thinking i would have to do the whole game over again. Until next morning when i woke up played and realized, hey i can just do previous chapters over again Smiley
then i remembered the double gold chalices in chapter 6-2 inside the ship deck (fastest way to make the most money in the game IMO.) so I repeated that section over and over again getting multiple gold chalices until I had enough money to finally buy some of my stuff back, plenty of healing, and 2 RL's to finish the game off for sure Smiley
so bla bla bla i got back to wesker and voila I beat the game! Smiley
anyways i really enjoyed it and as Carc said in other posts, I did like it a lot better than 4 I believe, its shorter but quite a beast and I love what they did with the storyline most of all and thats what kept me loving the game the whole time Smiley

okay so:

2. the merc's is HUGE and insane Tongue
my best score so far is only a pathetic 27670 with sheva in the mines. I havent played much yet, I only played a bit last week or so to get that score and unlock at least 3 or so new stages. Also the BSAA emblems in this game........... are frigging INSANELY hard to find. Some are not bad but holy mother of god....... I spent MANY HOURS these past few days trying to find them all now and I am wondering how other people are doing with these too? I also was wondering if anyone else has found all 3 BSAA emblems in 6-1 yet? Smiley
i say this because 1 of them hidden on the ship is hidden SO INCREDIBLY GOOD that I am so lucky that I actually found it last night, It took close to 2-3 straight hours last night of looking to find the last one on the ship last night and oh god am i happy i decided to look where i did Wink
so i've been doing the emblems and upgrading all the weapons these past few days and right now i am currently up to 27/30 emblems as of today (i am spending hours upon hours just to find these damn things :P) so I was just wondering how others are doing with these emblems as well? the last 3 I have to find are in the marshlands, and in your opinion what emblem was the hardest for you to find so far? also if anyone wants any help with any of the emblems you can also ask.

and I have INF ammo so far for the Handgun, both shotguns (normal and Jail Breaker), Rifle, and Lightning Hawk.

and FINALLY

3. speedrunning wise i havent done a lot but i have worked quite a bit on 1-1 and i was wondering if i have the best new game 1-1 so far. I did it solo of course because i cant go on xbox live yet cause my computer is wrecked like i said, thus no internet Sad
and at first after hearing everyone complain about how bad sheva was I thought, why are they all complaining shes not THAT bad, I think her AI is good......... I soon came to see just how wrong i was. i mean OH MY GOD how many times must she block the path where you are trying to go, or stand RIGHT in front of you while you are trying to shoot or RIGHT beside you so her equipment sticks right out in front of your face of push you while your shooting, or get stuck behind DAMN WALLS AFTER YOU HAVE A PERFECT RUN GOING arghhhhhhhhh... Smiley

anywho my best 1-1 new game time (nothing carried over from prev game) and solo is 8:41 so far Which i was very happy to get after a lot of 8:53's and 8:47's.
so im just wondering what other peoples best times are? I've only seen a few posted on this topic. also a few things about 1-1 which either people already know or dont know or im just wondering.

like everyone probably asks, is there ANY way to make the final part of the village go faster? it seems sometimes like i have it goes faster but just ends up as the same old 8:47 Sad
also i noticed the elctric boxes that are on top of the telephone poles in the public assembly and just wondered if anyone tested them out yet on the executioner to see if dropping them on him is instant kill or helps etc? because it would maybe make the fight go by faster idk :S
also for the first bits of 1-1 at the butcher door i make sure to slowly walk over to the butcher so the door doesnt close on sheva and she can walk in RIGHT with me and be beside me so the butcher cutscene starts right away. Also another area i slow down a bit at 1-1 to save time is the red door right before you go up and enter the building with the first enemy cutscene. if you slow down like with the butcher as you open the door, sheva grabs the herb and follows right behind you as you exit so again the door doesnt close on her and she doesnt have to open it again so she is RIGHT behind you went you enter the building up top and dont have to wait for her to run to you.

anyways this have been a long post and if i want some answers or feedback to some questions i posted in this long message i should probably stop and post it now.
so yeah RE5 = great game I love it.

ending things: first run of the games final time was: 8:04.01, my total play time overall so far is about 35-40 hours or so I think? and I have unlocked every costume so far except for sheva's last costume.
and I have every figurine except 4 more to go.

cheers!

Is 8:32 a decent time for 1-1? I think I can do it faster but that whole chapter feels random.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Is that a co-op run or solo bc my best co-op 1-1 is a 8:32
Beat it. Is it me or is there way less money in this game than in RE4?
Quote from Alan:

Co-op, I think I can get less than 8:30 after another try because there were times I felt like my turns could of been a second or so faster on the way to public assembly.
