Hi,

Recently I completed a single segment run with a good time, it seems unlikely I'll be able to improve it any more than I have. I'm wondering if the run is relevant seeing as there already exists a segmented run which is around 11 mins faster. I'm not sure of the protocol in submitting a run when the run is already completed in a different category. Are there any rules or guidelines that I need to adhere to for my run to have relevance on here? Such as the run must be no less than X% slower than a segmented run? The game I ran is Little Big Adventure(AKA Relentless: Twinsen's Adventure) and the only run which currently exists is a segmented run of 1:19:14.

Thanks in advance,

Nah, segmented runs are generally expected to be way faster than single segment since they're supposed to be further optimized. If you don't think you can improve your run any more, go ahead and submit it.

Depends way too much on the game to have any hard rules. Some games use a ton of luck manipulation or retries to get segmented times down way further than a single segment could realistically go.

The verifiers should be knowledgeable enough about the game to know where the line is. If you want, you can post some progress videos over in the appropriate forum and see what people think.

Ah, okay. Thanks. To be honest there is only one part of it I'm not happy with but I don't think I'll be able to do as well as I did in this run to correct the mistake.

I see, the game in question is more about execution and timing rather than luck manipulation. The enemies are completely predictable so the whole run is about performing the correct actions at the correct time. I will probably do as you say with posting some progress videos but the run itself is stored on twitch. Will that be a problem?

Posting twitch links as examples of the gameplay quality we can expect is fine, just as long as the videos you send us for submission aren't twitch recordings, yes. Smiley

Twitch recordings can't be used as submissions? Is there something wrong with them? I'm sorry to be a pest, lol.

Can I not take my twitch recordings and convert them into a more preferable format for the submission?
Twitch recordings have low quality. If you have the raw recordings, use them.

I see, I guess I'll have to try another run and actually record the run myself then. I only streamed the run so I have no raw recordings to use.

Post a quality test over in Tech Support, and make sure to read the stickies first.

Am I to post a quality test of my twitch recording? I assume you mean I should do a quality test of a raw recording before I do another run? I read the stickies and I can see the layout of the quality test. But nothing about twitch recordings so I assume you mean I should do a quality test of a raw recording. Tongue

Yeah, no twitch recordings for video quality, because it's already destroyed by the time it makes it to twitch for a variety of reasons.

Here you go.

Thank you for this but I figured it out for myself. Tongue

The only problem I have now is the way I record the game. It runs through DOSBox so I can't use conventional recording methods. There is a built in video capture option which I'm using right now but the game has this weird thing of downscaling the resolution from 640x480 to 320x200 during cutscenes which makes the video capture software stop and start recording in that resolution until the cutscene is over only to stop again to switch back to 640x480 to continue recording in that resolution. The result is multiple AVI's.

Is this a GOG/Steam release? Multiple AVIs isn't a problem as long as there's nothing missing.
Yes, it is a GOG release.
