hey everyone

older games, like snes, psx etc had some difference between pal and ntsc

ntsc was running at 60hz and was faster then pal games

i was wondering: does ps3 games have a fixed frame rate? or is there still speed differences between us and europe games

It's pretty optional nowadays, most of the new console games in Europe can be set to either 50HZ (like old PAL speed) or 60HZ (like NTSC speed). I think on a PS3 you can change this from the console menu. Some games only have 60HZ and therefore cannot be played in 50HZ (such as Zelda Collectors Edition, Metroid Prime 2, Gears of War and Halo 3).
no, you can't change it in the menu Smiley that's why i'm asking

ps2 games had the option, where you cold choose 60 or 50 hz

but the ps3 doesnt have this option

not in the ps3 menu, nor in the ingame menus Smiley

that why i was wondering if all the games have the same refresh rate?

That's very odd, I tell you now I don't have a PS3 and I thought it has that feature *facepalms*.

I have a good feeling they are 60HZ because 50HZ usually have letterboxes and the music games wouldn't feel right.

The easiest way is to play the Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection and play "The Story of Thor" because the NTSC name is called "Beyond Oasis".
i'm from germany but i allways buy us versions since many years Smiley

i was just wondering, if i can go rent a german "pal" game, and don't have any speed issues any more like back then.. Smiley

and since i only got us version, i can't tell by myself if european games are any slower Sad
Timing between PAL and NTSC depends entirely on how the game is programmed. The issues seen with older systems revolve around this type of programming, but it's become increasingly rare. Now only a handful of games actually run slower when played at 50Hz; the rest just look a bit more choppy. Some actually play faster at 50Hz due to graphic slowdown affecting the 60Hz version more.

All 360 and PS3 games are capable of running at 60Hz, so in that way the region doesn't matter at all. However, afaik a PAL PS3 will only do 50Hz when running at 576i (standard definition). Once you go to 720p or higher, it will always run at 60Hz. So, if you play on an SDTV, then the potential for a timing issue is there. However, like I say, very few, if any, games will actually have an issue - in particular online games have to run at the right speed for obvious reasons.

The 360 will use 60Hz if possible no matter what resolution you have.
