When they review the GCN version of Zelda, it will be quite interesting to see the score they give it.  I don't think it would  be fair to emphasize shortcomings like bad graphics on a dated system.

Basically, TP would be the GCN's limit.  There would be no way for it to generate more polygons than the Wii is capable.  Also, the controls will be traditional, along with not having the 'cheap' speaker on it.  Therefor, you would think that the GCN version would receive quite a high score.  Most to all of the inadequacies of the Wii version will be nonexistent.

But they're deeply disappointing for the most part, beginning with the fact that not an ounce of blood ever gets spilled

It was at this point that I stopped reading that review.

Wow, they really made fun of people who bought Red Steel on Attack of the Show (G4 TechTV) today. I guess Gamespot isn't the only one who thinks the game is awful.

They did however, call Gamespot's review of Zelda: Twilight Princess "unforgiving and harsh." Smiley

I stopped watching Attack of the Show after Brenden left and they started being huge dicks at Nintendo fans. So anything they say I consider null and void (along with XPlay). I never trust "Proffesional Reviews" since they are usually just people who look for good graphics and say that anything with lesser graphics than Halo and [other XBox games here] suck hard. Like with Red Steel. It doesn't have perfect graphics, but so what? If it's fun, that's all that matters.

The host of AOTS (Kevin Pereira) is a huge Wii fan. He has stated many times that the system to get this Christmas is a Nintendo Wii. On the night of the release, he bought every release game and and every accessory he could get his hands on (including many nunchucks) and then later got drunk at his Wii party.

When he woke up the next day, Kevin and the other people at G4 joked about how normally when people get drunk, they wind up next morning next to someone unfavorable, but when Kevin gets drunk, he wakes up next to a copy of Red Steel the next morning. Pretty witty, I thought.

Watching AOTS and X-Play the fast few months, they have really been looking at gameplay more than graphics and it shows because Nintendo has been getting favourable reviews from them.

I think professional reviewers value gameplay more than anything but they are unforgiving when it comes to gameplay mistakes like doors not being able to open in Red Steel or when the gameplay gets repetitive and has no replay value.
Does anyone here have Red Steel who could give us an honest opinion about it?
Ewic Juice
I bought 6 extra besides Wii Sports on launch day and have 2 more to come that are on pre-order. I've played all of the 7 games that I have so far, and I think Red Steel is one of the best. Probably 3/7 on my list (1st being LoZ: TP and Excite Truck).

The multiplayer is a ton of fun, despite the 'gotta get used to' controls, but hey, that's another aspect of it that makes it enjoyable with your friends.
The single player is by-far the best FPS game I've played on the Wii. The re-loading sounds come straight from the Wiimote and it really feels like you're holding that weapon in your hand, with the trigger (B) as the trigger for shooting the gun on-screen.
The lighting effects are good and graphics-wise, I'm impressed.

I really don't like Gamespot... I mean, they gave LoZ: TP an 8.8... I don't care at all what they think anymore.
Thank you! Thats exactly what I was looking for.

Yeah, because video games sites are obviously liars (SARCASM).
They must be liars for them all to give Red Steel an average ratio of 6.7 out of 10. (SARCASM)

If you don't agree, then buy the game if you want to; the only opinion that matters is your own. (Not being sarcastic)

Game sites don't give their own, personal opinions of the game, they're only saying whether or not it appeals to a mass audience..

There's some credence to that.

Dude calm down. I've heard people either say they really like the game or they hate it so I wanted an opinion of someone here on SDA that I know. Also a lot of people in this thread were explaining why the aforementioned game site reviews weren't necessarily the best way to judge Red Steel. Next time go take a nap or something, and try not to take something I say so literally.

Of course reading reviews is not necessarily the best way to judge a game. You need people on this thread to tell you that?

The best way is to obviously play the game yourself. That is why I said the only opinion that matters is one's own.

Sadly I'm yet to get a Wii but I was hoping to buy Twilight Princess and one other game when I do get the system. I was debating whether or not Red Steel would be that other game. Of course the only opinion that matters is your own but as of now I have had no opportunity to play the game.

With so many reviewers saying it's a bad game, I still suggest that you wait until you get your Wii and then try out the game before buying it, but I can see how you might want to get this game. When you look at the other Wii games, this game seems more intriguing than other Wii games.
