They are not. Smiley
no but they do do lots more dmg then you'd think. dont think it would save lots of time though. impressive stuff so far, is this going to continue or is it dead?

Yeah damage, but not immediate destruction. Therefor I would lose time shooting the barrels if they don't immediately destroy the building Smiley If they won't destroy a building completely then they're useless because Tanya takes them out with 1 explosive, no matter if the building is damaged or not.

This is definitely going to continue, some day. If the FPS thing will be solved and if I got less projects going on, hehe Wink

I am going to buy myself a new computer in the near future too btw, as I am starting uni (OT: TheVoid, aren't you dutch? I'm moving to Dutchland ) and I will most likely start testing out again then.

It'll happen around End of August.

Awesome, then the FPS will probably be fixed (Well, atleast for us and the ones with a faster computer. But not fixed in general ;D).

Yes, I'm Dutch. Welcome to "Dutchland"! Grin

That ones, when you need to destroy all enemy units are the hardest levels to run, i think.
The last mission in the american campaign is a very tough one on hard difficulty. I can't do that yet, but i finished the other levels on hard difficulty within the par time. There are some tricks to this?

use Chrono Commandos. Wink

How I can see my FPS on YR and how I can set max fps example 99 ?

And I also want to see this speedrun. >=)

I would try to do Allied last mission as fast as I can tomorrow. Smiley

I still haven't gotten my computer upgrade, and I am not going to try anything until then. But this speedrun will definately happen during this year. I am moving close to TheVoid soon to start my uni, and will most likely get an upgraded computer for the studies, as I will need one for it anyway.

Stay tuned Wink

I am sure, TheVoid is getting closer to finishing his other projects aswell, right?

I've finished my Rune speedrun although the submission part is taking some time... My Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green speedrun is almost finished so hopefully that won't take too long either. Commandos Strike Force is a project I just work on now and then. So yes, I'm almost ready to start working on Red Alert 2 again Wink
Cute and Cuddly Lemming
During the next 4 week I will be able to start again aswell.

Sounds like a plan to me, Cheesy
polak
cant find roosters vids (#3 and #5). maybe links are incorrect?
Cute and Cuddly Lemming
The videos are probably deleted, purged...

But if we're limiting the FPS, does that mean I need to redo all videos? Allied7 will be quite a pain to get that glitch captured again... Lips Sealed

Can you check at what Framerate these were recorded somehow?
According to VirtualDub all my videos were recorded at 15 FPS except Allied7, which was recorded at 30 FPS. I believe I set Camtasia to automatically decide at what FPS to record so that's why it's different I guess Smiley
Cute and Cuddly Lemming
30 fps, okay, let's set the fps to that then.

I had a very sleepless night last night, and thought of something how we can maybe improve times on some crucial missions using Harriers (Airplanes):

When Harriers are in the air and their base is sold (Y'know, the flight command thing), don't they crash into the ground then?

If we can time it right, shouldn't we be able to crash them with timing?
Yeah, I've thought about using that method too. It is possible but timing it can be quite tricky.

There's one thing though, of course you first want to just attack with the Harrier right (Why crash it right away when just attacking is more powerful if I remember correctly)? But if you do that and then plan to make him crash on the building, you would need to fly away with the Harrier for a certain distance and then go back and quickly sell the Flight Command building. It is possible to make the Harrier circle around the building, but then you need a lot of luck so that he actually crashes on the building.

So it is possible but quite tricky to perform, would it be really helpful anywhere? Do you have a specific mission in mind rooster?
Cute and Cuddly Lemming
See you can use waypoints there (I like using them anyway). Take the mission where you need to destroy that beacon thing. Start in south-west, beacon north-west, take the convertable tanks and take a few chests before weakening the beacon with them.

Say you set the waypoint for the Harriers 'Attack beacon and then fly behind it and back over it and back behind it'. Should leave enough time to sell the Command Center.
It could maybe save the time spend on building the third Harrier Smiley

Hmm, what if you build the Vehicle Factory and just build like 2 or 3 of those cars you had in the beginning (I totally forgot about all the names :)) and just drive them in the same way to the beacon and then destroy it with a few shots?

There's another thing I want to ask, since the in-game timer isn't really accurate and thus it needs to be manually timed, it's actually not possible to use the mouse glitch anymore, right? Because not everyone saves the game at the same moment in the beginning. The only way you could keep the mouse glitch is by providing a savegame which everyone must use, if such thing is allowed.
Cute and Cuddly Lemming
Yes the mouse glitch would provide difficulty, we will have to approach Radix with it BEFORE we start re-playing it. We could use a TASed savegame, 1frame after the game starts. If Raddix allows it.

I dont know about the ingame timer, if we limit the frames to 30 FPS, the gametimer HAS to be accurate, doesn't it?

I thought about the Factory Strategy aswell, but construction the war Factory alone takes Command Center + 1 Harrier I think. We'd have to try. But before that we have to find a way to get the timers and whatnot right.

Yeah I've checked it a little and it appears to be slower that way, better just make some Harriers Smiley

TheVoid and I managed to fight down all recording problems due to system differences. We "set the monitor refresh rate to 60Hz and forced vsync through the drivers", which solved all our prolems. Our times are the same now.

So much for the good news. Bad news follow ahead:

dex told us that, if we intend to do individual level runs, which we do intend to do, we cannot use the mouse glitch we have used so far. This means a few levels will become ALOT longer.

We will still keep up the IL thought though and after that is finished we can still think of a game-run, which allows the glitch.

As my recording problems are fixed, I can basically start tonight with the new testruns. Yay. I have something to do Cheesy

I would love to see how much interest there is for the speedrun though, so feel free to post, everyone Smiley
Heyyy... wait.. i don't know you. Don't confuse me

New tactic for 01: Operation Londe Guardian: Let Tanya walk past the Dreadnoughts and rush to the GIs, unburrow those, walk em to the Dreadnoughts, kill the conscripts using Tanya and go to Fort Bradley, kill Dreadnoughts with GIs.

EDIT: Might not be as good. Either Tanya doesn't walk as fast when not upgraded or I am not speedy enough. Weird.

EDIT2: Disregard that, old method is better, Tanya runs faster with a full upgrade it seems. 03:27, yes! 03:26, if anyone can beat that, I am highly surprised.
Run like hell!
I'm also hardly interested!
