As for glitches/tactics we use:
- Mouse glitch: When loading a game, that was saved only split-seconds after the mission started, you can use your mouse before getting actual battle control. The mouse is invisible, to get the mouse visible simply double-rightclick the game window (not the build menu). This is a major time-saver in some missions, as it allows you to tell your units to intercept some of the enemy units (sometimes the Mobile Construction Yard before it was deployed, thus shortening the time significantly). Might be used again

Updates:
08-14-07: Starting from scratch.
11-14-08: 1 year 3 months later: Starting from scratch Cheesy Cheesy :D.

I watched the first one. It seems good. You guys are much better than I was when I played that game.

And what with the 60 minutes? I don't remind that mission.
Cute and Cuddly Lemming
I haven't worked on that one yet. It is definately harder than any of the other missions I ran yet. TheVoid hasn't had a look either, and from my previous attempts on that mission (basically just messing around with different strategies to break the defence) I never got any good times.
cool thing, I will watch that tonight.

Yes, I still need to look at Mission 6...
Because I'm still busy with the previous missions Grin

Although that Mission 1 Run is pretty good (It's difficult to get the same time...), you'll notice that I've clicked 2 times wrongly, about ~2 seconds lost Roll Eyes

And the sound is still a little f*cked up...
Damn Camtasia, I don't know what's the problem with that :-/

This is majorly screwed. I had another go at Mission 6 and I just can't find a good way to enter it. I send 9 rank 1 Grizzly Tanks into the enemy base, and only get to kill the construction yard before the last tank gets blown up. The Air-Defence is unbeatable.

Grr..

EDIT: 10 14 Second Improvement for Allied 5: 3:27 3:23 Smiley

I'm glad you guys are doing this, I would love to speed run this game but I don't have the technology nor the extreme dedication it takes....

All I can say is I can't wait to see what kind of times you get on the last mission!

What did you get then? Smiley

EDIT: I had another go at Mission 7 (After TheVoid beating my Mission 5 times by 2 seconds with a different route) and am wondering what exactly is needed in order to get the 'mission accomblished' window... I don't have to kill ALL units, because when the window pops up, there are units of the enemy all over the place.. O_o Anyone got an idea?
Cruisin' down the street in my six fo'
I thought you just have to get the construction yard and they sell everything, giving you a mission accomplished... could be wrong though, haven't played in a while
I just checked Allied 7 and you need to destroy the Construction Yard and the Barracks, then they sell everything and you get the "Mission Accomplished" Smiley
Cute and Cuddly Lemming
No, once he sells you need to kill certain types of units before you get the mission accomblished. Or for me it's like that.
Yes you're right, it's not only the Construction Yard and the Barracks...
I don't get this victory condition, anyone knows what the victory condition is in Allied Mission 7?

TheVoid just pulled off a 1:28 recorded A7, beating my best time by 219 seconds. Yeah right. I'll beat you there!

EDIT: I have to admit, I can't beat you to 1:18, which is TheVoid's current recorded record. T_T

I had a look at A8 and A9 again, A9 is one hell of an awesome mission, we will both love it, and it will be awesome to watch, I can asure that. I am aiming for sub 10 on that mission...

EDIT2: A10 is fun, and rather easy, but A11 is hell. We will have alot of hate for that mission...
Yeah, A7 appeared all of a sudden VERY easy...
Totally missed that 1 Sentry Gun in the earlier attempts... Wink
Cute and Cuddly Lemming
I'll go record A6 tonight, most likely. I wanna hit a sub-20 run on it. Should be possible. Maybe even less.
I've improved Allied 4 by 2 seconds, 01:49 Smiley
Once again, don't mind the sound too much because it sounds quite horrible...
Does anyone know how I can fix that?

By problems you mean these weird "noises", slightly overpeaked sound etc.?
If that's the case, pressing right mouse button on the speaker icon in the system tray, opening volume control, then options -> properties. In there, tick the "recording" and exit the properties. Lower the stereo mix volume a little.

That should help. Don't lower it too much or you'll get a sound too silent to hear.

And for the thread...i've missed it as of now, and i now download the rest of runs :). Maybe (if i find my RA2 CD) i'll make some runs myself. For now, i'll try to download other runs.
Cute and Cuddly Lemming
We would love to get some more people up and running to help us improve routes and times. We are all for it Smiley

A6 done in 19:39, Now off to record it.

I don't have the CD anywhere...damnation :-/. Hmmm, maybe i'll break my golden rule and download this game from teh internets...however it will take some time with my crappy net connection, so i won't be able to make the runs just now...But i'll get to it eventually Smiley

Don't worry, we have time Smiley

That would be great dex to have someone else also trying to get some nice times Wink

I'll try to fix the sound...

EDIT:
Finally the sound is much better now, thanks for the advice dex.
I also needed to turn off BassBoost...

Now to redo all the missions . . . Grin
Here's a new time for Allied 1, 02:50.
The reason I shaved off 21 seconds is because in the earlier Run I didn't use the Mouse Glitch Wink
Also I think the sound is better now (If not please say that to me Smiley ).

Would there be a few instances where the Attack-Move command would save you a few split seconds of pausing to target hazards in your way?  I haven't played this game in ages and don't remember exactly - it should be control+alt or control+shift while you click on where you want to move to.  It should be helpful when a unit can fire while moving, and doesn't need to fire in the direction it is facing.

TheVoid: 2006-08-20 12:05:55 pm
It could be useful at some places yes.

I think you're refering to my Allied 1 Run when I need to cross the bridge after Fort Bradley, right? Smiley
That could be a possible location for example.

EDIT:
I forgot to say that it's indeed Control+Shift Wink
Cute and Cuddly Lemming
I've encountered problems, being as fast as TheVoid, I think my PC runs the game slower.

3:05 for Mission 1, 4:42 for Mission 3. TheVoid beat me to #2 and #4.
