Hi there. I've been meaning to record some AVI files with JoeQuake, but it keeps crashing whenever I try to use capturedemo. Has anyone else had problems with it? I'm using 0.15dev (build 1862), the latest afaik.

Do I need to install something else in order to capture AVI? I don't recall having to do that before, though. I'm using Windows XP and tried this on two separate computers (although one of those two is virtualized, but they both had the same problem).
Thread title:
Sorry for bumping such an old topic, but on the odd chance that somebody else has a problem with this, I'd like to just mention that I was able to fix it by moving the demo file to the Joequake directory and running it from there. The demo file I was trying to record was in a subdirectory. As soon as I moved it, it started working.

Maybe it's got something to do with the fact that if you only say "capturedemo demo", Joequake will generate the resulting AVI filename. It might have tried to generate a file with slashes in it when I tried "capturedemo demos/subdir/demo".

Try seting capture_codec to 0 and capture_mp3 to 0 as well before capturing, maybe there's some problem with the codec that's what I'm thinking.

It's fixed now thankfully Smiley The problem was not the codec I was using, everything started working exactly as advertised once I stopped trying to record demos that were inside subdirectories (of the joequake dir). At least, that's why it now works for me personally.

EDIT: still have problems using capture_start and capture_stop, though... they work, and it seems that it's generating an AVI, but the resulting file can't be opened by any program I use. capturedemo works just fine.

EDIT: ah, I see now, if I bind a key to capture_stop and then just press the key, it correctly stops capturing (no matter which codec or settings are in place). Maybe it was because I have capture_console set to 0? Anyway it seems it's fixed now Smiley

Yet another edit: Okay, I'll stop whining now. Honest. But it would really be great if JoeQuake captures actually had sync a/v and AVI segmenting to avoid hitting the 4gb limit...
