Yes, Inexistence is a word.
Hey, I'm thinking about starting work on a speedrun for the game Claw, or Captain Claw as it may be known. It's a game that was for Windows 95, and I'm running on XP. I've been trying for about 2 days to figure out a way of recording it. I normally use Fraps, but when attempting this it has caused my fps to drop to around 4 and the sound to jitter. The resulting video was horrendous anyway.

I've attempted many things after this, none working due to it being fullscreen at a different resolution and thus it either wouldn't record just the game and not my desktop, or it would mess up the colours entirely.

I then attempted to use a programme called DXWnd, which forces games into windowed mode. This didn't work mostly, but I found that with Version 1.0 it would not crash, whereas with Versions 1.2 and 1.3 it did crash no matter what I tried. (I don't have V 1.1).

And so I've found that recordng the windowed version of the game will work and produces fine results. I was wondering whether or not this would be allowed.

I've looked around a lot, and can't find the notes that tell the differences in the versions, though from playing I've noticed no differences whatsoever. I know that Version 1.3 merely includes more online support, but from 1.0 to 1.2 I'm unsure.

I was wondering if I'd be able to speedrun using version 1.0, as it's the only one I can record from.

EDIT: Upon finishing this, I have realised it's probably in the wrong forum. If a mod would like to move it, I'd be grateful. Believe me, it started out tech support and then ended up not.
