In Rayman 2: Revolution there is a cheat menu, you get to it by highlighting 'mute' in the sound settings, holding L1 + R1 and pressing L2 R2 L2 R2 L2 R2 which then the cheat menu will open. On the PS2, I was able to open this menu practically every time I tried the cheat. Recently I found my copy and it wouldn't work (years of scratches and such) so I bought it on the PSN store. It was under 'PS2 classics' on the store is literally just a direct transfer of the game with no changes at all. The only problem is...I can't get that menu to open now.

I know it shouldn't matter and I should play without cheating but it'd be nice to use the full health cheat when I'm practicing a tricky part, which I do plan to speedrun this game.

I've gotten the cheat menu to open ONCE on the PS3 but never again since. If anyone can help me with this I greatly appreciate it. ~kb

It might have something to do with how the game detects L2 and R2, and with using a PS3 controller instead of a PS2 controller (PS3 Triggers vs PS2 buttons). Try changing the way you press the L2 and R2 triggers and see if that helps.

I'm assuming that when you say that you mean how fast/slow I press the buttons? Also, you're right. I used a PS1/PS2 to USB converter and used it on my PS3 and I got the cheat to work every time. Thanks ~kb
