Rayman M is an excellent foot racer which we believe is overlooked by many gamers. There is no other racer like it which is what makes it so unique and fun to play. This game really tests skill when it come to platforming. The depth to this game really makes it one of our favorite games.
We've had this game since its release and it's about time we speed run it. We haven't come across anyone covering this game on the site so we thought we might as well do it.
We have recently done some videos covering techniques & useful glitches we have found over the years for others to understand how there done.
Rayman M Mechanics Demo

Video Description
*Please Read the Description*
We are working on doing a speedrun for Rayman M before moving onto Rayman Origins.
We did a playthrough of this game before but have since deleted it from YouTube. Instead of restarting the play through we thought it would be more enjoyable to speedrun it.
The reason for this video is not to explain to people how to play the game rather to explain the mechanics of the game for the people who have never played it before because it is quite old.
We think this is necessary so people understand the advanced tricks/Glitches & techniques used in the speedrun rather than having to explain every detail.

Rayman M Srping Pad Caneling

*Played on a Ps2 console. Everything in this video was performed by hand without the use of turbos or tool assistance*
Rayman M Extened Hovering

This is necessary to know to take certain routes & perform certain glitches.

Rayman M Optimize Teching

The reason for the controller is the to show how it's being done. R1 as well as X is used to jump & L1 as well as Square is used to shoot. (Crimsonblade2193) I do it by double tapping X & (Nightshadow2193) my brother does it by pressing R1 then X which is better for consistency.

Rayman M Checkpoint Glitch

We're not sure exactly how this happens but this is how its done. You have to gain enough height to do this glitch which is why FCing (Flight Canceling) comes in handy. It tricks the game into thinking you have not gone past the check point  causing it to think you have gone a lap. It can also be done with other check points on the track on certain levels.

Differences between versions (From Wikipedia)
Rayman M had been released in Europe in 2001 for the PC and PlayStation 2. The PC and PlayStation 2 versions of Rayman Arena were actually Rayman M, only edited in very minor ways, most noticeably changes from Rayman M in the intro movie, load screens, etc, to Rayman Arena. The PlayStation 2 version had changed since Rayman M, though not by very much.

As there was not a port of Rayman M to the GameCube and Xbox, the development team had made several changes to the game and released it on the GameCube and Xbox platforms. A few notable differences would include:

The menus had been changed; the space theme was gone and navigation was somewhat different.
A single-player battle can only have up to 2 opponents (3 in a battle) at a time, unlike the other two versions where it was possible to have battles involving 3 opponents (4 in a battle).
(Battle) The shoulder buttons/triggers on the GameCube and Xbox controllers were now used to lock-on to enemies.
(Battle) The small circles representing health were replaced by six hearts. If a player is hit, a heart is "emitted" from the player's body, and fades away very quickly.
(Battle) Hearts can be regained; killing an enemy results in the gain of another heart.
(Race) Players are represented by the colours, blue, red, yellow and green, as players 1-4 respectively, while Rayman Arena changes the order to yellow, blue, green and red.
(Race) A race can have three people as well as in Rayman Arena, all the single player races would have four characters in a track.

(There are other important differences that weren't mentioned such as there are more unlockables and level design for each track is quite different between versions.)

Nostalgia Kills
I really love this game, and I had a lot of fun playing it my niece. I own gamecube rayman arena though, so I can't really help that much. I think I had a couple preferred routes through the game, but I'm sure you've already got to them.
