Where there's air there's hell.
Hi I'm qwerty.Easy to remember eh?Anyway I'm thinking
of doing a run on Rayman 3 for GC.I've allready started the practice run.Since you all are the pros at speed runs,
do you have any tips for me?
Thread title:
Complete. Global. Saturation.
Hell yes. A fellow Rayman 3 player!
It's pretty a pretty straight-forward game so I don't have a lot of tips for you. The only thing I can thing of is for the acid-trip surfing levels, memorize the hell out of them and restart from the beginning if you fall off.

Do you need all the cages to get to the last level? If not, just ignore the ones that are out of the way.
No the Quail is not riding the Q
There's some strategies here and there...I recall I got passed one of the giant hairy dudes without hitting the gong thingy so I'll make a video of that when I can.

Thanks ya'll. Just finished the Desert of the Knaarens.
TOTAL TIME: 2:02:18. Any tips on the Land of the Livid Dead? So far that's tooken the most time at 0:31:59.I can complete the next 2 levels quickly but tips would be VERY appriceative.

Is that the one with two shoe races/battles? That might be what's killing your time. Try to ram the shoe multiple times and stay on him as hard as you can if he tires to get by you. Ramming him multiple times in a short span of time actually drains his health faster.

I'll play this game again tomorrow and get back to you with some info.

Good idea. I finnaly finished, LS,SBC,HH. with a total time of,
TOTAL: 2:40:22!!!!!
Not even past the 3-hour mark yet!!!!!!!
All thats left is the tower of the lepties then my practice run will be complete!!
I will still need to lock my final path and lock the cages I
break, BUT I AM FINNALY ON THE LAST LEVEL OF MY PRACTICE RUN IN UNDER THREE HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, I'm just really happy ;D.Again, all tips aquired will be thanked and still more time saving tricks ANYWHERE is good

Jesus you're fast. Sorry about not getting back to you with comments, it was a busy day. I hope you put this run on YouTube or make it available for download so I can give appropriate feedback.

Here's a shortcut (and battle) for you in Hoodlum Headquarters:

Here's something a lot smaller for you:

Do it. You can find it at EB/Gamestop for about $10 used. Or maybe they'll have a new one sitting around for a very low price.

Sdnysky, he's right I got my copy at Gamestop for $13.
I know.Actually I saw a copy at my local game crazy for like 10 bucks.I'll buy one soon. Smiley School just started today and I'll be pretty busy for the next few weeks.I will probably buy it in between then if I have time. Smiley

Does anyone know where i can find a capture card (or what ever is is) for my computer?
Complete. Global. Saturation.
Holy crap, I was beginning to worry that you had given up.

But why do you need a capture card? Did they release it for PC? I don't know where to find one by the way.
Where there's air there's hell.
I wouldn't miss out on making my first speedrun.
Maybe its not a capture card, but once i get my
run on a dvd i'll need to upload the data onto the internet

You want to talk about this? Do you need help?
First off, I hope thread revival isn't such a big issue around here. Tongue

I have been casually running this game a few times recently (single segment), and I’ve made some nice progress. About an hour ago I finished a run that ended in 2:51:53. :O My level times were:

Code:
Fairy Council (13:52)
Clearleaf Forest (18:02)
Bog of Murk (14:47)
Land of the Livid Dead (26:41)
Desert of the Knaaren (24:55)
The Longest Shortcut ( 9:31)
Summit Beyond the Clouds (13:28)
Hoodlum Headquarters (16:59)
Tower of the Leptys (33:38)

There were some pretty costly mistakes here and there, but also some great highlights (off the top of my head: The shoe race in TotL was ridiculously quick :P). So far my runs haven't used very many nifty timesavers, so soon I’ll start looking into that a bit more. I did find a pretty cool timesaver in CF though:

In part 3, after your first encouter with Hoodbooms, you go inside to a storage-room-like area. There is a tower of crates you need to climb in order to get to the second room. Here you hit a switch that opens a hatch to a Teensie cage with a Heavy Metal Fist can. Then a wooden gate opens to let you back in the first room. When you climb the tower of crates you get to a gate with another Teensie cage with a Heavy Metal Fist can. After that you go back to the second room to another wooden gate with yet another Teensie cage with a Heavy Metal Fist can with which you can break the final wooden gate that leads to the end.

Now, normally when you hit the switch, a cutscene plays in which it shows the hatch opening. After this cutscene you are placed on the platform next to the switch and are supposed to go down the hatch. However, if you're quick enough you can hit the switch and skip the trigger for the cutscene, yet the hatch still opens. I have a feeling it depends on whether the switch is on camera at that time. Anyway, that saves a few seconds, but that's not all. When you get the Heavy Metal Fist from the Teensie cage, you go up the tower of crates. When you enter the second room again, the cutscene will play. This isn't even as long as it normally would be since the hatch is already open, but more importantly it places you on the platform. If you jump and helicopter you should be able to smash the wooden gate leading to the end of the level without having to climb the crates first. If all done correctly it should be possible to smash the last wooden gate with only the first Heavy Metal Fist and therefore skip both (!) the other two Teensie cages.
Just finished a run today that ended in 2:43:00! :O Sub 2:40 is definitely within reach. And I still haven’t used that many timesavers yet so I’ll have to go looking for those soon. Tongue

Code:
Fairy Council (13:31) -0:21
Clearleaf Forest (17:29) -0:33
Bog of Murk (14:09) -0:38
Land of the Livid Dead (22:44) -3:57
Desert of the Knaaren (23:20) -1:35
The Longest Shortcut (09:36) +0:05
Summit Beyond the Clouds (12:42) -0:46
Hoodlum Headquarters (15:57) -1:02
Tower of the Leptys (33:32) -0:06
Sounds like you're doing some nice work. I haven't played this game in ages, but I'm thinking of booting it up again and looking for some timesavers, too.
