It's time to use the HEALING TOUCH
Um, I was actually doing the N64 version on an emulator... and I don't know enough about recording it normally, I have a N64 at home, my sutie mates have a N64 but not the game,  and it'd be a hassle to get all the stuff and learn how to make AVIs from normal play.

It's a hassle to send a tape to nate so he can use is uber-hawtness equipment to upload it?
It's time to use the HEALING TOUCH
yeah I have no idea how to send stuff to this website, or how to record it on tape on a console so I don't bother.

^ A bug called Stinks.
Another run we public viewers won't see.
It's time to use the HEALING TOUCH
unfortunately yes, for now.

I'd rather see starcraft

Oh, try the tech support thread. But we probably won't see it, but that's okay.
Speed Running Joy-bringer
Supposedly, the longer the wait for a speed run, the better the quality... assuming it gets finished in the end though.

I doubt we will be seeing one for this great game anytime soon, but for now, we can just place some effort into getting a good route going on.

One thing that I'm concerned with right now is, are you aiming to get every single REQUIRED lum, or stock up on lums when possible, then no longer worry about them in the future. I really do think that this game would look good even if we ended up collecting a few extra lums. Collecting most of the obvious in-your-face ones are good, and Cages take a 2-5 seconds to open if they contain any.

I was playing through the game, not necessarily caring about getting many lums ('till I got turned back at the second door... d'oh).
It's time to use the HEALING TOUCH
I was planning to meet the minimum required by the time the Irom Mountains is reached, 550. All Lums after that are inconsequential. Prior to that, the minimum number required is not needed, so at the other 3 Lum landmarks there should be a slight number greater than needed, but they should all accumulate to 550.

A SS probably can just get whatever Lum is on the way, and not worry about any out of the way Lums or even worry about the Lum count at all. A segmented run (which I highly advocate someone to do) should have every Lum planned.

How does the save system in this game work? Do you manually save, or does the game auto save like Donkey Kong 64? IIRC, it was like DK64, but it's been a while since I played.
It's time to use the HEALING TOUCH
I actually do not remember

It is incredibly unfortunate, but I cannot contribute anything beyond the Cave of Bad Dreams, because when I play the boss is all screwed up, instead ot tossing bones for me to make platforms out of 3/4 until the battle is done he completely disappears. For good. I've tested this many times and cannot get past. This is quite sad because I wanted to beat this game and offer strategies here, but I guess that's limited to the first 7 levels. I'll probably have to redo and see if I can beat the boss again (probably should have made a savestate or saved beforehand but oopsie) but as of now I'm pretty sure I cannnot procede.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.

The game asks if you want to save after each level.

And it takes about 1 second to save, so no diff here.

Dang. That really sucks. Tried the settings and stuff? I've never heard of it before.

I might have to do some investigation on this. I'm thinking ways to do flying keg areas (was my favorite parts in the game).

It's probably because I use ROM + emulator, and some weird thing happened... But I can give tips on first 7 levels  Tongue

I'll see if I can fix that and if I really can procede, but as of now, since I additionally pciked up Super Smash Bros as well, I'm gonna be a little booked. Too much multitasking on my part I believe...
Hey all! it's been quite a while since anyone has posted here I see, but I'd like to just say a quick hello.  Having grown up with Rayman 2, it being the first game I ever complete alone, I thought it best to speed run it first, of many I hope. I'd like to thank you for the notes you've all taken down here, even if the run I am planning is aiming to be a 100% run.  I don't know the difference between segmented and not, but I intend to complete it all in one sitting.

As for the run itself, I have planned and practiced all the levels up to and including whale bay on my N64.  I am learning what skips I can and can't pull off and have you guys to thank for that.  I'm optimistic and determined to pull this off, so If I need any help I would like to ask these forums if you are willing to help Smiley  I am still in the process of learning how this run must be recorded and all that jazz, but I wanted to let you all know that this game is not dead yet haha.  wish me luck!

I'm TASing this game with Mupen64, Just to know, is it possible to skip cave of bad dreams?
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
As far as I know, it's not possible. Also, here's the current thread:
