Found this thing in Woods of Light, not that it's useful since you can't refill your air meter, it's a hard to get trick and swimming isn't that much faster anyway I think.
Huh. WoL airswimming probably wouldn't be too useful in the end; you have to collect all 5 lums, and the path is rather straightforward to do so.

Hello, I am Darnok.
I have a couple of questions:
1. Does anyone of you play Rayman 2 in windowed mode? I use nglide, I can't make windowed mode with D3DWindower or DxWnd, and I don't want to use Dgvoodoo, because it lags a lot.
2. Has it happened to anyone of you that game crashes sometimes while loading Prison Ship 3 map? It happens sometimes to me and I am a bit scared of potential run-killer.

I found a way to wrong warp in Rayman Revolution!

So apparently it's possible to use the Bayou cutscene to wrong warp to the Precipice or the Tomb of the Ancients! This trick only works on a full memory card though, it does not work on an empty card or a card that has enough space left on it.

This wrong warp works by exploiting two things in the game:

• First of all there is a counter in the game that keeps track of the amount of razorbeard cutscenes you have seen. There are three different razorbeard cutscenes located in one map, one for the first mask, one for the second mask and one for the third. After the cutscene you are always teleported to the level corresponding with the cutscene, so that's the Bayou, the Precipice and the Tomb of the Ancients.

• Secondly, this glitch works because whenever you try to save the game to a full memory card but cancel saving, the game gets tricked into thinking you have already completed the level once. For the razorbeard cutscene level, it also increases the counter. So when you save to a full memory card and cancel, the game thinks that you should be watching the cutscene for the Precipice, which allows you to wrong warp there!

• Also, normally the game doesn't show a save screen before the Razorbeard cutscenes but you can trigger one by opening the save screen while still in the overworld for some reason.
If there's a counter for the Razorbeard counters in Revolution, I'm almost certain it also has to exist for the N64 version. While this exact method won't work (saves come at the end of levels, not the beginning) I think the idea might translate. The problem is that there's no way to save "in" a level like that. I'll have to try a few things.

Nostalgia Kills
Can you clear some things up about the wrong warp for me?

I'm assuming if you use this glitch on bayou to get the counter to go up 1, you warp to precipice and can never use it on bayou OR precipice again?

Can you beat bayou normally and trigger it on precipice with the same method?

And finally using 3 or more saves on Bayou.. should still send you to tomb, it doesn't crash the game or something else does it?

If you use the glitch to warp from bayou to the Precipice, the Precipice cutscene trigger disappears, not sure what happens if you visit the bayou then though (I assume that trigger is gone).
If you use the glitch to warp from bayou to the Tomb of the Ancients, the Tomb cutscene trigger disappears and the Precipice cutscene trigger also disappears.

Using 3 saves on the Bayou just sends you to the Tomb.

Btw, I got a world record of 1:43:21 in Rayman Revolution Cheesy (though for now I'm the only one to run this game lol)

So I decided to come back to this and do a couple of runs. And I managed to bring my PB down by a good 6½ minutes after 3 weeks of doing attempts.
Early game was really good, significant time-losses in Stone/Fire, Precipice, Tomb of the Ancients and Iron Mountains. And for reasons I lost focus on Grolgoth and lost time there too. Still, getting 2:35 is something I can be happy with. Might do some Treasure% runs to relax ;3
Hi, I'm BlueWaterFangs, and I've recently started practicing/running Any % on N64. I was wondering, is there a skype group or irc chat for this game?

Also, I found a weird damage boost glitch in the Cave of Bad Dreams. It's useless in the area I found it, but it could potentially be used any time you can damage boost to a ledge:
Hi there BlueWaterFangs! This thing you found is sort of known already. It's basically you preserving momentum from grabbing the ledge. The part right before that is a good example. You can swing off of the Purple Lum and grab the wall, and if you jump out of the wall-grabbing animation, you get a big boost forward from the momentum you got from jumping off of the Purple Lum. This might be useful, but it's very hard to make something like this have consistent use in runs. Caterpillars are really the only thing that give you such a boost.

Also, there is a Skype group for this game. So if you're interested in joining that, you can give me your Skype so I can add you there :>
So, I had this theory in my mind for a little while but never tried it out.
I was thinking that Axel could be skipped using backwards slide jumping and to my surprise, it's a thing!

It so happens that the wall also has sliding physics, allowing you to get high and far enough to make it to the other side. Unfortunately this isn't RTA-friendly at all since you need to keep this angle the entire time and you have to pretty much jump from the edge of the wall.
So manocheese, do you still exist?
So Darnok apparently randomly discovered a trick to skip the Jano fight!

This skip is done by grabbing the skull at the same time that it's hitbox disappears, which teleports Rayman way above from where Rayman grabbed the skull.
And by some miracle, this trick was discovered by Darnok during one of his Any% attempts and got holy sub 2 out of it!

(Accidental discovery at 34:15)

So after like 15 months of not touching the Any% category, I decided to give it another shot. Mainly due to route changes and new skips and I was able to get this in the end:

This run derped on Axel Skip, had one death in The Precipice and messed up a precise jump in Iron Mountains 2 twice and I lost sub 2 from bad RNG at Grolgoth. Still, I got most of the big skips incredibly quickly, so I'm satisfied with this category. Since 100% has been getting new strats, I might now actually consider touching that category again, but not until I worked on Treasure%.

Since I started to play 100% runs, I invented/improved some strategies for PC version. Every of these strats saves about 30s.

Tomb of Ancients 2

saves 30s (compared to wronggrab at very beginning), it is also possible to try getting golden fist while doing barrel glitch

Cave of Bad Dreams 1

saves 35s in this movie, it might be faster with early cycle (which I don't have on this movie)
Note: there is wronggrab to the left which might be also very useful for any% as a better lum backup.

Stone & Fire 1

saves 30s, this one is much safer on 60 fps than on 30 fps (less risk of deathwarping while doing wronggrab)
I have also found 2 swimming clips for PC:

Fairy Glade 1

ca. 10s faster than flawless sun skip and less complicated

Water & Ice 1

ca. 20s faster than swimming clip by Frozen, it is also one of the easiest clips - you get it first try on 30 fps, you can also get it in 60 fps with use of single shot (frame perfect)

Note: it seems that single shot after the moment when Rayman's head is behind the wall makes getting oob easier for swimming clips.

Well, I have recently investigated big and cool timesavers in Stone & Fire 2

For 100%

saves over 1 min, plum clip was found earlier by FrozenFrog

For Any%

saves ca. 2 min for Any%, maybe it might be also useful for 100%
Wow, those wronggrab clips are really making the PC version faster than the 64 one.

So after a break I got new PB (and WR) in Any%

This run was almost flawless, I lost most time on failing Canopy pale skip. Only reasonable timesaves now are Jano skip and Stone & Fire 2 oob - both of them are very hard and would kill most of my runs.
Might as well post this because it has been a long time since I posted anything glitch-wise here and since I found this rather cool, but don't take this too seriously it's nothing exciting

Should've posted this earlier, but recently I discovered a new glitch, which pretty much solidifies the fact that Cave of Bad Dreams Skip will never be possible.

However, this does have a use in speedruns. In Any%, 100% and Take the Treasure speedruns, it saves around 30, 10 and 20 seconds respectively. I doubt this will have any other good use aside from Menhir Hills 2. There's still some theories to combine this glitch with other things, but that will require a bit more testing...
Well, with all new strats and after some attempts I finally got a 100% run that satisfies me:

A small skip for 100% I found that saves some time backtracking, however it's not really viable for Single Segment runs:

And just like Darnok, I've set my sights on 100% again as well, due to better strats and new skips:

Have done more runs prior to this run, but this is what I ended up being satisfied with (for now).

I have thought about the idea by Blubber from 2 years ago (page 27, bottom) and it seems I can also achieve that without alt+f4 assistance which make that easier and
Major application that is see for that now is 100% run - you can leave Walk of Life od Walk of Power early after getting 50th lum - assuming you can create extra save in ~5s, you would save 17-5=12[s] in Walk of Life and 11-5=6[s] in Walk of Power.

EDIT: I realised you don't even need to save game in another slot - as long as you don't overwrite your starter 0.0% save, you can keep loading that while run and warping to the beginning of level. However, since by default it teleports you in Hall of Doors to the portal of Woods of Light, you need to visit main menu and return to Hall of Doors (press ESC twice) to make sure, you will appear at correct place.

Possible timesaves up to now:
1. Walk of Life: 15s
2. Walk of Power: 8s
3. immediate teleport to Menhir Hills after Jano elixir cutscene: 8s

MoonsPod just found a pretty amazing skip which could obsolete the Plum Clip for 100% completely. It might have uses for Any% but we're not sure yet.

He also found a minor timesaver in The Bayou, by just jumping through some lasers...:
