So I got this result the other day in Sanctuary of Water and Ice and didn't know how to replicate it. Messed around today and found out how. When you're holding L, the game thinks you're on the ground (obviously), and you have a small window where you can jump. If you double tap A, you can skip needing to jump back up. It'd save a few seconds, but I have no idea how feasible it is in runs. MAYBE this could be a better thing on PC? Getting swim in air more easily?

Oh, also, Germanguitarguy was having trouble with the Whale Bay 2 clip, so I messed about and found an easier way to get it:

What I learned today about Fairy Glade 2 by experimenting on an emulator:

- You will load the area and trigger the invisible checkpoint if you go into the little thorn cage.
- The loading trigger for the echoing caves section is not much bigger than the hole in the floor is.
- You can't swim in the water by jumping and helicoptering in the water plane (it will kill you)
- To clip through the water plane with quick drop you need to release L just as you slide down, about 5/6 frames before you hit the water I think (might be wrong)
- You can stand half in bounds when doing the vine clip (not really useful)
- If an area isn't loaded it actually has no collision, so even if there would be a clip to float down from the end towards the little tunnel (see the video) it wouldn't matter since you will just fall through

Video of the section I was talking about at the end of FG2:

I'm really running out of ideas for a skip here Sad only ways left I can think of:
- Find a way to abuse climbing physics.
- Grab a purple lum from out of bounds.
- Trigger the invisible checkpoint by going near the thorns cage.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
I've spent some time jumping at that wall before, but I've never come close to clipping through. I think if you could get through, you could get far enough into the tunnel to load it. Getting close to the bridge seems to help; the bridge itself seems to always be loaded when you're near it. I've also tried to trigger the invisible checkpoint, but even if I get really close to the cage with moonjump, it seems I can't trigger the checkpoint without actually going inside the cage.

So... I found another clip. Dunno if this is even remotely consistent or useful in any%, but eh... Here you go, lol
I try to go fast
I don't think it can be useful in speedrunning. Maybe in a anti-drug campaign though.

Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Some miscellaneous stuff:

EDIT: Watching #2 again, I noticed that right before every freeze, you can hear a jumping sound effect. Perhaps pressing A too soon is what causes the freeze.

EDIT2: I tested it out and I think my theory is correct. After swimming past the water plane, wait until the air meter appears before you press A. I haven't gotten a single freeze since I started doing this.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
I did a 2:33:31 just now. It was somewhat sloppier than my 2:34:48, but the new tricks went well. Sub-2:33 is very doable, and hopefully I'll get something like 2:32:30.
I try to go fast
Damn man, congrats on that run! Will you get back to Any% at some point? Would be cool to see you running that again (eventhough I don't play Rayman right now).
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
I've thought about working on any% after I get a 100% run I'm satisfied with. I may want to take a break from the game by then, though.

I started using the whale bay one; where you just helicopter down into the room. Works pretty consistently. Also, #10 has happened to me a few times. On PC, if you turn the luminosity all the way up its like a red laser is just following you Tongue

So after the palm tree clip being found in Whale Bay, I realized there's another palm tree like this in the game. So I was taking a look at Sanctuary of Stone and Fire 1, since there's a palm tree like that there. And clipping indeed works there!

So in this case here you have to hug the tree, not the wall. The camera needs to be hugging the wall in order to clip. If you hug the wall like in Whale Bay, Rayman will shake into the tree a bit, but it won't let you clip. So if you clip with this angle and walk forward, Rayman will sometimes grab a ledge (it's kind of finicky because the camera moves around when you clip, so grabbing ledges becomes iffy at best). If you walk forward and don't clip, you can tap right to help you clip a bit more reliably.

So unfortunately it doesn't look like this clip is going to be useful for Any%, because the Mini-Jano room is just barely too far away. I don't know if that area is even loaded on N64 since there's normally a loading screen before you get there, so that area may be on a different map, I'm not sure. So I guess the people who can look into that may do so Wink

Also damn, congrats Mano for your new PB. Why are so fast? Tongue

New any% pb: 2:20:42. Bad run.
Anyways, sadly Sanctuary of Plums and Rage tree clip is not working so well for me. I start glitching into the tree and then it stops. I'm on PC so it should work, but I'm bad with camera angles. Also, it does not work on N64 since a loading zone makes it a new territory.
So yeah. I PBed again, even though it wasn't any better than before.

My beginning was a bit sloppy, my mid-game was pretty good and the last 3 worlds went horribly.
Honestly, after this PB, I didn't want to do another run. So I'll quit 100%, but I'll come back for Any%. Any% just seems alot more
fun and avoids most of the dumb things that go on in 100%.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
I don't blame you; 100% can be really frustrating. I took a look at the Iron Mountains walking shell section in your run. When the robot hits a rock, he doesn't actually destroy it; he kicks it into the sky. Once it flies in the air for long enough, it disappears for good. But if you die shortly after a rock is kicked, the rock will come back.
BLARGHHH
Mano, in this 100% time of yours, did you use the new Fairy Glade thing?
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Yeah, I used the airswims in Fairy Glade and Sanctuary of Water and Ice.
BLARGHHH
Ah ok. I tried the water and ice one on PC, it's frustrating me Tongue Also, you mentioned earlier that you might work on any%, what would be your goal for that?

Mano, will you upload your new 100% PB run? Cheesy

I'm not sure. I think I said 2:04 a while back, but with the new stuff, somewhere in the 2:02:xx range might be a better goal.

I don't think I will. It's pretty much the same as my 2:34, just with the new tricks.

I hopefully will be getting a new PC this summer so I can stream my PC runs. I am hoping for a sub 2:10:xx but that's gonna be a while since my current pb is 2:19:09 Tongue I'm not really sure how low the PC can times can go, I think the only hope for a PC run to be a world record is if Cave of Bad Dreams skip is used, although that is not too big of a deal since it's only about 32-35 minutes into the run.

And on that note, PC has proven to indeed be faster!

Come on mano, you gotta keep your 7 year world record streak going Wink

Well, technically he still has WR because he runs N64. It seems unfair that PC runners get an advantage over N64. N64 should just be it's own category because of glitch differences and whatnot.

Also, Thundacats. PC being faster solely because of the CoBD Orb Skip is not entirely true. I do Echoing Caves 1 normally because the tricks that PC has to skip it are dumb and unreliable. And I also do Canopy 1 slightly slower because I need to make up for the Lums I skip at CoBD.
BLARGHHH
I agree; however it is a pretty significant timesaver. I suppose I exaggerated a bit on that ( Tongue ), do you think PC WR is beatable not doing it? I really have no idea how optimized your time is, so I'm just asking.
