however in the Marshes of Awakening, you can actually jump straight from the first lily to the last one, you don't even have to touch the second one.

I see. The next segment is the Cave of Bad Dreams, right? If so, here's a tip: While fighting the little dudes that resemble the guardian, hold Z and move around while firing; you can defeat them and collect the three Lums there simultaneously.

EDIT: I am working on a single-segment run right now, and I found this out the hard way...

Don't use the Globox text skip in The Canopy in a single-segment...
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Awesome, it's good to here someone like you is doing a single segment run of this. Tell me about you're progress, I'll be happy to hear it. Of course my run might look really bad next to yours now.

I just finally finished The Cave of Bad Dreams segment. It sucks, but it's still a minute faster than my practice segment, and I've played this level way too many times in the past few days. So this is good enough for me.

Current time is 49 Minutes 52 Seconds.

Progress thus far: One attempt killed in The Canopy by that unexpected freeze glitch, one killed in the Marshes of Awakening by missing too many Lums, and one killed at Whale Bay by not getting off my Walking Shell in time (I get the ten in the cage after freeing Carmen), not counting attempts where I didn't get the Globox baby text skip.
Pingas
I was thinking about a 100% Run for Rayman 2 awhile back but I never got around to doing it. What kind of time do you think we'd be able to get with a 100% Run?
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Since you have to get 550 just to beat the game, and none of  the other lums are really that far out of the way. If it's segmented, I would think it would be about 3 and a half hours long, maybe not that long. My any% run will probably be 2:2x, so 3:30 seems about right to get all 999 lums(1000 if you count the secret lum in the Tomb of the Ancients). You would have to make sure you skip the first lum in each level, then come back in and get it and leave back through the entrance. This allows you to skip the really fucking slow bonus levels.

Isn't there an option to skip them? I seem to remember one.
I'm pretty sure there is an option to skip them.

Got through Whale Bay last night. Through 9 levels, I have a time of 1 Hour 7 Minutes 21 Seconds. Next up is Level 10, the longest level in the game. hopefully I can finish that and level 11 within the next few days.

I finished an attempt at my single-segment today. It sucked, though, so I'm not submitting it. It had around 5 deaths (although a few of them only cost a handful of seconds). The final time was 2:30:47, so I'll be aiming for 2:27:xx or, maybe, 2:26:xx.
fuck you i wont do what you tell me
ahh man, i always hated whale bay.  couldnt figure out that level for 3 days, then i figured out that i had to go into the ship and swim up. o_O

just went around following the whale as it moved further and further from the ship...

yeah, i hate that level.

2:30:47 doesn't seem all that bad to me. Where were your deaths?

If you finish your single segment run before I finish my multi segment run, I may put mine on hold until after your run is on the site. That way I can give myself a better target time, because if you're going to finish the game in under 2:30 single segment, then I should shoot for 2:20 or something probably.

Here's what I remember:

1 in the Bayou; lost about 10 seconds
2 in the Precipice; one of them lost maybe 5 seconds, the other 15-20
1 in the Iron Mountains; lost probably 30 seconds
1 in the Prison Ship; lost maybe a minute Sad This pissed me off because I practiced this level a ton, only to do the hard parts right and mess up on something dumb
1 somewhere else; can't really remember, but I lost 20-35 seconds

I also made other big mistakes, like spending about 20 seconds on a part of Tomb of the Ancients that should've taken 3. So, the run wasn't terrible, but I can do better. Besides, I already deleted it anyway. <_<;

EDIT: There were actually a lot more deaths than that. I remembered some of them that I forgot about.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Another old game that I haven't played in ages.

I remember it being quite difficult, so a run might be tough.

Spikevegeta, any progress? I haven't done any attempts since my 2:30:47. I might try again today.

I'd love to see a run. This was actually my first 3d game given to me by my grandfather years ago (for PC). I remember playing the sanctuary of stone and fire which I couldn't complete in the 'computer time' my mom gave me. Also, in that level there is a split and if you go left you get to this walking-bomb-track that was almost impossible for me to complete. I was stuck at beneath the sanctuary of rock and lava with and the end boss. Recently I played the game again and I beat the boss for the first time. I was quite dissapointed that there's no special or something for collecting all 999 lums.

I did some attempts recently, none of which made it very far (farthest one made it to The Canopy).

Well, I got back to work on the run last night. Sorry it's been so long, I started back up on school this week. So far I'm through 12 Levels, and I've got 399 Lums in 1 Hour 34 Minutes 38 Seconds. I'll try to finish the other 6 levels next weekend(I'll be really busy throughout the school week).
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Does the PC version have more Lums than the PlayStation version? I can't remember 999 in the PS version. Then again, I didn't get them all.

I finished another attempt yesterday. It, too, was pretty lousy. Everything before the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire was pretty much as good as I can hope for, though, so it was a bummer that I started screwing up. The final time was 2:32:46 (about two minutes slower than my other attempt).

EDIT: Another attempt... 2:32:49. I'm getting slower. :-[ At least it's by 3 seconds this time and not 2 minutes. <_<

I love this game up to the sanctuary of stone and fire, and then after that i want to rip it out of the console and crush it.

manocheese- i love the way you edit your youtube videos. it makes me all warm and fuzzy.  I really can't wait to see your run.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Okay, here's my situation. I start school tomorrow and I haven't finished my run. I will not be able to work on it during the weekdays, and on weekends, I will not have much time either. This will only get worse as time passes. I do not want to quit this run. However, I don't know if I can expect to finish if I can only work on it off and on. I will keep trying, though.
It's time to use the HEALING TOUCH
I'm really starting to look forward to this speedrun. When I first thought about doing a TAS for this game, 4+ hours seemed likely. You've cut that time down so much and found many many awesome techniques that I would not have. Best of luck mate.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Thanks. Speaking of techniques...

I got some practice in today. I might try some attempts tomorrow.

I'm curious but could you upload a video of at least one full stage completed, I wonder what your playing style is and how you would go about speedrunning one level.
