Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Wow, now we can skip significant parts of all the Sanctuaries. Good work. That one is also good because it doesn't skip any Lums.

EDIT: Roffle. Also, I encountered a problem while testing that trick. I was able to get past the door quite a few times, but most of the time, rather than just getting pushed through the door, I got pushed out of bounds and was able to helicopter back in bounds behind the door. I got it a few times without the out of bounds method (the way you did it in your video), though.
I'm thinking of trying a speedrun of this game. I'm not too sure yet if I'm going to run the game. It's been an idea running through my mind. If I do decide to run the game, I won't let the frustration get to me like I always do. I already have the route Cheese posted and have a good idea of what lums to pick up according to spike's lum route on the first two pages. Spike and Manocheese, could you post some of your level times if you have them? I'll think about it a bit more and do some practice runs. I will let you guys know when I've made a decision to run it or not.  Smiley

What happened to your SMS run? Tongue

I don't have level times handy, but may get some later. What type of a run might you do?
Don't worry, I'll come back to the SMS run later. I still have the first 2 segments recorded...<_<

I'm thinking of a segmented any%.

Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
A good goal might be 2:15, assuming you'd use all the fastest strategies and tricks. It could be lower, though.

EDIT: Here are some changes to the route:

Fairy Glade: 21
I said 20 or 21, but it is actually 21 (I always get that many).
Marshes of Awakening: 49
I get 47, but you should get all of them in a segmented run.
Sanctuary of Water and Ice: 41
You should have no trouble getting all of them on the sliding part.
Cave of Bad Dreams: 50
Those closing walls are too risky for me, but with a segment at the beginning of the level, there shouldn't be a problem.
Menhir Hills part 2: You might be able to skip those Lums in a cage in the Purple Lum room.
Whale Bay: 45
I skip one of the Lums at the sliding part at the end, but you won't need to.
Sanctuary of Stone and Fire: 11
Minus 2 because of the miniboss skip.
Echoing Caves: 24 (?)
Either 24 or 25... Can't remember.
Top of the World: 46 (?)
All of them on the chair.
Beneath the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava: 42
You won't need to miss any.
Tomb of the Ancients: Hopefully, you won't have to get any of my slow backup Lums in this level (the ones in a ring around the first switch in a set of three; I get some if I'm running low). There are 13 others that take almost no time to get.
Thanks for the updated route. I've had some attempts at the first segment. Can't get the first Murphy text skip down but I can get the baby globox text. Murphy always gets me in the middle of my second jump. But ignoring screwing up the first text skip, everything else didn't look too bad imo.  I'll work on it tomorrow.  Smiley

Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Yeah, I have only skipped that Murfy text a few times and never restart because of not getting it. It is difficult to practice, too, because you must watch the opening cutscene each time you fail (unless, possibly, you got it once, then beat the level and saved; that works for the Globox baby text skip).
Ok, I'm starting to get really good segment one attempts but I'm on and off with the Murfy text skip. I'm going to start recording today.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I'll try to post my segment times later today for you to look at along with lum info and other small facts about each segment. I've decided with both you and Manocheese making better runs that I won't send in my 2:26:56 run. It would be beaten so quickly it's not even worth it to send it in.

Anyways, you should post videos of the segments up on Youtube, just in case Manocheese, myself or anyone else can give you tips along the way. I'll post my times later.

The Woods of Light
Time: 4:04(Time starts when I gain control of Rayman in the prison) Also time stops in each segment when I clicked yes in order to save after I'm given the level report.

Lums: 5
Lums collected: 5/550

Notes:
-I didn't know about jumping when sliding, so that's probably a couple of seconds right there.
-I didn't know it was possible to skip the Murphy text at the start so another 6 seconds you could save.
-When going to get the 4th lum of the level(behind the waterfall), I took the bottom path on the ground rather than jumping up on the platform to the left and going from there.  That  top route is about 2 seconds faster

The Fairy Glade/Marshes of Awakening
Time: 13:55
Total: 17:59

Lums:20 in FG, 49 in MoA
Lums Collected: 74/550

Notes:
-Time for the rest of the segments starts when the bottom text on the world map shows up after the game is loaded.
-Obviously, these two levels are put together in order to skip the Murphy Tutorial about the world map.
-When destroying the machine to get to Ly, I killed 5 cannon balls. The optimal way to get through that would be to only kill 1 cannon ball per barrel carry, so only 3.

The Bayou:
Time: 5:34
Total: 23:33

Lums: 49
Lums collected:123/550

Notes:
-I didn't know about the possibility of skipping the small YEAH! text after beating the pirate, so that's another 2 seconds.

The Sanctuary of Water and Ice:
Time: 7:51
Total: 31:24

Lums: 41
Lums collected: 164/550

Notes:
-Didn't know about the ability to walk through the orb door, so that would likely save about 90 seconds.
Thanks for the tips and the segment time. I'll definetly post them on youtube so you guys can critique me. The only trouble I have right now is the Murfy text skip and jumping while sliding. I'll try to record it later today since I kept screwing up the first text skip earlier today.
Sorry for the double post but I have a slight problem....My recorder can't record over 13 minutes (segment 2)....It's a peice of shit. <_< I might have to buy a new one if I want to continue this run.  Tongue

Edit: Nevermind, it works.

The Menhir Hills(part 1)
Time: 3:06
Total: 34:30

Lums: 17
Lums collected: 181/550

Notes:
-I actually missed one lum on the shell, but I have to come back this way later anyways, so I just picked it up later.

The Cave of Bad Dreams:
Time: 12:12
Total: 46:42

Lums:50(49 in the cave, 1 in the Marshes on the way to the cave)
Lums collected: 231/550

Notes:
-This segment annoyed the crap out of me. Getting the orbs to open the door takes forever and it's so easy to throw the orbs into the pits. Even then, this level wasn't very good, I could see it being beaten by over 30 seconds, possibly a minute.

The Menhir Hills(Part 2)
Time: 4:02
Total: 50:44

Lums: 7
Lums Collected: 238/550
Did you use these tricks in your run?
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Hmm, I bet you were recording on a disc with only 13 minutes left. <_< Oh, and BTW, there's a Lum in the Cave of Bad Dreams you might not want to get... After jumping on some skulls, shooting a hand, and climbing on a wall, there is a Lum to your left... I get it, but it's kinda slow.

Yeah, on my test file that's the one I skipped.  I'll try to get this done tonight. And I think you're right about that recording thing.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
I got some level times from my 2:21:22. Keep in mind that there are deaths in some levels. Unless otherwise noted, timing is from the screen fade after entering the level in the Hall of Doors (meaning when the screen is completely black) to the screen fade after the end of the level (warp, mask), not including cutscenes afterwards (Polokus cutscenes), if any. I just used WMP to get the approximate times, not VirtualDub to get it exactly. So they're timed a bit differently from Spikevegeta's, but hopefully can still be used. *Copies table code from bounty topic*

Thanks for the level times. Btw, did you get the Murfy text skip in the Woods of Light on that attempt?
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Nope.
Tried some attempts at segment one lately and failed. I might be able to work on it this week if I'm not so busy with school.

Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
I forgot to say... There are five Lums in the Sanctuary of Water and Ice near the barrel. You should probably get those, even if they're a little out of the way.

EDIT: Hmm, darn, I had a good idea for a timesaver, but it didn't work. Sad You know the cutscene that plays before you fight Razorbeard? I figured that it might be part of The Crow's Nest, so I could pause, go to the Hall of Doors, and go back to skip the cutscene. I was able to go to the Hall of Doors, but when I went back, the cutscene started again. Angry
I'm doing some attempts now and my controller is pissing me off. In the middle of the attempt the game says, "no controller" when there's one is the socket thing! My controller is so old that if you mess up the wire it will say, "no controller". And with just my luck, it fucked me over with a good attempt. I finally got the murfy text skip when the controller decides not to work when I shoot the first cage... I've had this problem for a while. I'm going to try to get a new one.

edit: Btw, I found this trick where you can grab that ledge in front of the baby globoxs earlier. I don't know where you guys jump to grab the ledge but I thought it was a neat trick.I grab it directly in front of their ledge. It's kinda hard though. It's like the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire miniboss skip but easier.

edit2: Found this by accident. Got pissed from the failed attempts so decided to mess around.

Update: Barely have had any attempts in the past week. Been really busy with school.

Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Okay, I have left you guys hanging for a while, so I will give an update. I have not done any better attempts than my 2:21:22 thus far. I did a 2:22:xx at some point. In my run, I do not plan to use the orb skip in the Sanctuary of Water and Ice. This may seem lazy, since the trick is comparable in difficulty to the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire and Echoing Caves tricks, both of which occur much later in the run. However, a key difference is that if you mess up on either of those, you lose maybe one or two seconds. If you mess up on the orb skip, you die and lose much more time (a death that early is an instant restart, actually). Even if you do the trick without dying, it sometimes puts Rayman OoB. So, in essence, not a lot has changed since my 2:21:22. I am using Unreal's Iron Mountains trick, though. My goal is still sub-2:20. If I get that, I will submit, probably even if it has a death in it (although that time will be difficult to get with deaths). I am now in my second semester of school and will hopefully have much more time to spend on my run (no AP chemistry and AP biology).

EDIT: Also, I have committed to not starting any other runs until this is done (I have a few in mind). So, wanting to start something new is more motivation. Tongue
Wow, it's been a while since I've given an update too. I've been busy with school and baseball recently. I don't get home until 7:30 at night due to practices so I haven't really been able to work on this. My last attempt was like two weeks ago. Sorry for not updating you guys.  Sad I might just save this run for the summer.
