Alright. Finally bought a dvd recorder...I will have to buy a splitter from RadioShack soon...but after that I should have everything I need to start attempting the first segments of this run.  I'm mainly making this topic to see what sort of interest there is out there and to see if anyone has any immediate suggestions.  I have found several great skips using the megaturret glove that should make the run interesting Smiley Anyway, I'll update this when I have made some progress.
Thread title:
I'm still sort of planning a NG run but by all means go ahead. You probably know all the big skips, since you're about to start attempts, but good luck!
I'm planning on doing New Game+ so starting with all the weapons (especially the megaturret glove)..If you wouldn't mind, I'd love to see what skips you've found. Once I start attempts I'll show off my discoveries.

Obscure games ftw
I'd definitely love to see this, I spent 40+ hours scouring the game to find everything.
The Insomniac Meseum feels so much better if it's earned...

If I'm correct, the weapons you plan on getting are:
-Shock Blaster (given to you on Veldin)
-Nitro Launcher (same)
-Sheild barrier, Megaturret Glove, Lava Gun, the other two from Going Commando (free with save file!)

Are you going to have the 10% Gadgetron employee discount from completing the hoverboard race on Kalebo III from the original game?
I'm doing New Game Plus. So basically its a challenge mode speedrun or whatever the heck its called when you start over after the boss. I have all weapons upgraded fully etc etc.
Obscure games ftw
Sorry, misread your post a bit, will the weapons be level 8 (2nd replay) or level 5 (1st replay)?
Bolts shouldn't be a problem in the run, with the bolt multiplier (x40 on that jungle planet I can't remember the name of pwns) and the carryover.

Good luck with the run!
This is my avatar
Well to be optimal in preparation, the save must be a 100% one, with all weapons to V8 (some can't go further than V5 like the RY3NO), and tons of bolts, but I guess it won't be a problem. I guess the run must be really glitch-focused.
I don't really want to list them all... Sad

If you youtube search UyA speed run you'll find a few terrible quality runs that some ratchet glitchers have done, they have pretty much all the tricks in those. I learned almost all of what I know from there.

Alright, I still don't have the splitter from RadioShack haha...but I'm going to type a fairly in-depth route in this thread. Feel free to give me suggestions/advice.

Veldin

-I still have to decide what exactly I want in my quick select. Obviously the RYNO, Megaturrets, Shield Charger, and Splitter Rifle (for bosses). I'm thinking the Plasma Coil is faster than the RYNO in many situations because you don't have to wait for the screen to go white to kill everyone. The Rift Ripper is also very useful in the last Marcadia rangers mission (the one where you have to turn the screws and put up the 5 turrets) I saw one video on youtube where the runner put a rift up before he started turning the screw so that it would just suck up enemies that come close..however, I'll have to experiment if this is actually faster than just putting on the shield..It probably wouldn't make a big difference either way, but if I need an extra quick select slot for whatever reason I don't want to waste them.  As for gadgets, the swingshot, tyrrhaguise, and the refractor are the only ones I need. I'm going to mess around some more and see if I can get rid of the refractor completely..but anyway. If I don't use the rift ripper then all 8 slots of quick select would be full. I know you can have two rings, but if I only need one thats less menu time of setting things up. Does anyone know if acquired gadgest go straight to the quick select ring or do you have to set them via menu after you obtain them?

-BACK TO VELDIN (sorry for the off-topic wall of text) I probably will not use this first glitch as it seems slower than just rushing through but I'll have to experiment some more to get an accurate timing of both routes.
(sorry for that video..it's painful to watch and listen to haha) (not my video by the way)

-I do have a way to skip the first fight once I land with the rangers.

Florana

-If you watched the entirety of that youtube link above, you will see he skips most of the level by walking past the drawbridge. I have another method that's slightly faster using the megaturrets.

-In the video the runner uses another glitch to skip the path of death and charge boot down to qwark...This seems pretty slow, so again I'll have to experiment to see which route is faster (If anyone knows for sure go ahead and post here)

Starship Phoenix

-Nothing special here.

Marcadia

-Sprint through to the rangers missions

-Complete all 5, probably just using the RYNO and the shield..but plasma coil might be faster in some situations...then again the dropships go down fast with the RYNO...

-Do the walk through walls glitch at the end of the last mission.

-In the refractor puzzle area, although you can walk through walls because of the glitch, there is one area where a bridge has to be constructed using the laser. The refractor puzzles therefore have to be completed up to this point so the laser will be present. I'm currently trying to see if I can find some way around this, so that I can skip the few seconds spent on aiming the laser, etc.

Starship Phoenix

-Quit the vidcomic and just skip it from the menu instead.

Annihilation Nation

-Use a small skip on the gauntlet where you go to the other side.

-For the arena, I'm thinking plasma coil might be faster.

Starship Phoenix

Aquatos

-Use the glitch found in this video at around 5:00, I'm not sure what he did wrong though, I haven't actually experimented with this one yet...but I'll mess around and see if I can optimize it.

-After the first tyhrraguise puzzle use the turn back to ratchet OOB glitch to skip to the last one.

Starship Phoenix

Tyhrranosis

-Wrench-climb on top of the building, from here glide through the roof to the end. Most definitely faster than normal route, but I still need to check.

-The walk through walls glitch that I've seen lots of videos do here, does not seem like the fastest at all. Instead just charge boot to the big door and megaturret through it.

-One time when I was playing the tyhrranoid boss glitched and somehow fell off the ceiling while it was climbing (it still looked like it was climbing, but it was falling) this caused it to die...I have no idea how this happened but I'm going to try and mess around and see if I can recreate this.

Starship Phoenix

-VR training, megaturret skip through all three of the hacker puzzles.

Daxx

-Use the common glitch method to get to the top of the terminal, charge boot around and down into the checkpoint room.

-Go the same way on top of the terminal, but this time charge boot down onto the swingshot path, skipping a lot. (I need to verify this is actually faster)

-There is a way to skip the ship boss, but I think it glitches your game and makes it impossible to beat...I'll have to experiment with this. Either way its only a few seconds saved.

Obani Gemini

-Wrench Climb past the first gate (Probably faster than using the refractor here..but I'll have to make sure..it's only a couple of seconds either way).

-Use the awesome glitch to charge boot out of orbit from the asteroid belt, onto the other moon landing right where Skid is waiting.

Blackwater City

-Boring ranger missions, Ryno probably the whole time, maybe plasma coil.

Annihilation Nation

-Use the splitter rifle on Scorpio (Have to confirm) but I'm almost positive its faster than the ryno.

Holostar Studios

-I can't seem to find any timesavers for the secret agent clank part...just need a really good giant clank fight. Punching and jumping and shooting rockets when he flies away is the most effective I'm pretty sure. I'll see if there's any way I can manipulate the spawning of the ninjas so that they are nearby. Jumping and landing on them is a one-hit kill.

-For the ratchet part, megaturret skip next to the hacker puzzle, puts you at basically the end of the level.

Obani Draco

-Awesome, trippy level design. Anyway haha, small skip here with the first magneboot path.

-Beat courtney with the splitter rifle probably, and her minions with the plasma coil. I'll have to try it out though.

Zeldrin Starport

-I don't think there are any skips, just charge boot your way through, probably plasma coil is fastest for clearing your path of enemies.

Starship Phoenix

-Skip the next three vidcomics

Kerwan

-Wrench-climb glitch that skips most of the map, I'm almost positive it's faster but I'll have to verify this.

-Use splitter rifle on Clunk.

Starship Phoenix

Crash Site

-Charge boot off the top onto the first thing on the left (don't know how to describe it) From here charge boot to the bridge.

-After obtaining the master plan, charge boot from the platform back down to below your ship, then just walk the magneboot trail up.

Starship Phoenix

-Skip the last vidcomic.

Qwark's Hideout

-Wrench-climb up the wire next to the area where the warp pad is used. This allows you to skip Aridia (a very long planet) entirely.

-Charge boot past the second warp pad area.

-Wall jump up to the top of the building (where the snowman is) and megaturret through the wall. From here you can glide down to qwark. Most likely faster than the normal route.

-From here I'll just save and end a segment..because the taxi doesn't appear so you have to load the game. (I think it's necessary).

Starship Phoenix

-Glitch past the pit in the middle of the floor to quickly reach the control room place.

Koros

-Charge boot through most of the level till you get to a certain corner where you can perform a glitch that allows you to get extra height on your jump by using megaturrets stacked in a corner. This puts you right at the end of the planet.

Command Center

-Charge boot down, after the first tyhrraguise puzzle, turn back into ratchet and climb up on top of the structure, from here you can glide past a lot.

-Megaturret glitch past the top of the next door. This skips the refractor puzzle and puts you right before Nefarious.

-For nefarious, I'll have to see if RYNO or splitter rifle is better. He moves around pretty much, but I'll see.

-For the Biobliterator use the splitter rifle instead of the airship as it is faster (I think). PDA will be needed, especially if the rifle is used on Nefarious.

And that's it! I'll still be looking for optimizations, but since I don't have all the recording equipment I need, I'll just be doing some leisurely practice runs, experimenting with the many things I have questions about (which route/weapon is faster etc.) and looking for new skips. I don't foresee many new large skips being found, but I'll definitely be on the lookout for small ways to traverse the levels faster.

-Edit: One last thing. I wonder if it would be faster on some of the bosses, to throw out agents of doom and/or some megaturrets really fast just to get that extra DPS. hmm.
OH MY GOSH Sad

My UYA files are gone. Idk who it was, little brother or something. But there is no longer any data of UYA on my memory card. SIIIIIIIIIGH.  Well. FlamingMage if you were planning on doing a NG+ run feel free to use/expand upon that route. I probably won't work on one for awhile, as it will take me some time to rebuild my maxed out file. However, I might just start working on a New Game, from scratch, run. I'm a little ticked I just spent all that time typing that route out...but hopefully it will be useful eventually.  In the meantime I'm going to start messing around with a normal, any% run, and try to improve CannibalK9's run on the site, or do a segmented run which would be a different category.
Sorry for the triple post..but I made some nice discoveries today just by playing from scratch.

First off the route really will not change much from the challenge mode route. I'm not exactly sure how bosses are gonna go down/what weapons to buy etc. (It'll be tough) But If I can by turrets asap (aquatos) AND go out of my way a little bit on daxx to get the charge boots. I'll be able to recreate all the glitches practically, except for the ones on aquatos.

I haven't gone very far in my new file, (only on annihilation nation now), but already I've found that the drawbridge skip on florana works fine on a normal run, although it is kind of hard to do first try.  The path of death skip is worthless if even possible on a new game run since gliding down with the jet pack takes ages.

THEN, big news, I found that the refractor never even has to be picked up. By using the walk through walls glitch, you can go to the right of the refractor and jump through the wall (skipping the pick-up cutscene...only a second or two), and then there is a certain corner in I think the second room that can be hopped through, and with a boost jump, lands you on the other side of the bridge. This is definitely a big time saver.
In response to your earlier edit: Plasma Coil is very good on Nefarious, and yes, throwing 2/4 turrets at the start will speed up the fights.

In response to the second post, that sucks dude Sad I won't be doing a run any time soon but I wish you luck on yours!

In response to your third post, sounds fantastic, can't wait to see Wink
Question on SDA rules: Would I be allowed to use the benefits that come along with having R+C1 and 2 save files on my memory card? free weapons from slim, and 10% discount

Some updates:
-Miniturrets are definitely a great buy at 15000 when you first reach slim. They help with quite a few shortcuts.
-The annihilation nation shortcut won't work in a normal run because you don't have the charge boots yet.
-The tyhrranosis skip works perfectly, I actually found a quicker way to do the first one.
-The door skip on tyhrranosis is being VERY difficult Sad I've been trying for about an hour and I can't seem to miniturret through it..but I know I have before. This makes me think that doing the walk through walls glitch would be better. It's not a whole lot slower...if at all really.

-Edit: I found a method of the walk through walls glitch that's a little bit faster in that I respawn a new vehicle to drive to the door.
Obscure games ftw
Benefits from old R&C saves would likely be a second NG+ catergory.
and mini-turrets PWN!
Alright! recording is up and running now...but I still need to practice these glitches more to where I can do them consistently...some of them are HARD.

-I couldn't find a shortcut on Daxx to get the charge boots...but it doesn't take too long
-Both Daxx glitches work perfectly.
-The ship fight is a little slow though...so I'm wondering how to optimize that.
-The obani moons glitch is very finicky...It seems really random as to how you steer yourself out of orbit.
You can skip the ship with a high jump+glide+hyperstrike from the edge of the platform. I forget how you get back to your ship though.
well you can get back to your ship by loading your game...or you might be able to take the path to the titanium bolt (which brings a taxi)..but I've heard it makes your game stuck if you don't kill the ship. I can experiment in my next playthrough though.
I hadn't heard that, I don't know anything about the glitch besides that it is possible Smiley Good luck, if I have some free time I'll look for anything helpful.
Alright, I can do the obani moon skip every time now. For the record I think that is one of the coolest/most creative skips in all of the speedruns I've ever seen (I didn't find it).

The freaking miniturret glitches are soooo hard. I'm wondering that since the miniturret has only one barrel (as compared to the megaturrets 2) it makes it impossible (or just really really hard) to pull of the glitches Sad I'll have to see what I can do...but this might mean that I'll have to do the hacker puzzles in the VR training which is A LOT slower. If I concentrate the miniturret though I may be able to upgrade it to lvl 5 by the next time it is used (Holostar Studios)

Also, another question. I've been debating this myself...do you think I should do this SS or segmented? I'm leaning towards segmented myself..just cus it would be easier with all these glitches...but I could just suck it up and endlessly work at a SS run haha.
Miniturrets can eventually get you through walls, but from my (limited) trials of this it appears to be about 12 times as hard on flat walls and 8 times as hard on corners...I tried for a long time to find consistent ways through walls with mini-turrets back when I was considering this run and I found nothing Sad

Segmented ftw.

I was never able to figure out the Obani thing, but it does look pretty sweet. Smiley
Yeah, I'm going to need to practice the miniturret skips over and over and over and over. Especially if I'm going to do the VR training ones..I only have 10 ammo to get through three flat walls. yikes.
Obscure games ftw
I was only able to do a miniturret glitch once, but it emptied the ammo (but I really stink at glitches)
Did a lot of attempts on the first segment today...I figure even though I'm not exactly sure how the rest of the run will go..the first segment won't be any different. Right now it's Veldin, Florana, Phoenix Starship, and then fly to Marcadia to save and end the segment.
I went back to just playing through the game and practicing. The run gets harder and harder as the game progresses. ugh. I don't wanna waste bolts on armor especially since it's segmented...but I'm basically 2-shotted from Daxx onward. The miniturret glitches are impossibly hard...therefore..I think I'm just going to go through the VR training normally...but I'm gong to try to level up the turrets to v5 asap. Idk if it's possible..but hopefully by Holostar Studios theyll be all the way upgraded. I'm thinking if I take a few minutes to level them up it will still be faster than going through Holostar Studios the normal route...then again the skip in Holostar Studios is on a corner..so I could possible do that one with miniturrets..idk. I'll have to practice more.
