Buy yourself a bunch of DVDRWs (either DVD+RW or DVD-RW, depending on which your recorder supports).  That way if you screw something up, you can just delete it off the DVD and record again.

DVD-RWs

Then what I usually do is keep some DVDRs and make a copy of the DVDRW onto the DVDR and ship those off to Nate.

*Whew* Thank god. I'm glad you can use DVD-RW's, I forgot they existed, I was thinking about the DVD_R's and I would be furiated if I used up 32 DVD-R discs beacuse I suck lol
Yoshi's eggs are at my mercy!

... Wha? Why didn't I think of that! Agh! All the wasted DVD-RWS!

And now that you mention that, I could just record the footage Nate needs, it would save him the hassle he went through last time with me and finding the times for whereever my runs were throughout all the failures on the discs.

Would that be more convieniet Nate?
well, you'll have to include whatever vobs contain the content. i don't even know how to edit vobs.
Fucking Weeaboo
If you use a program like DVD2AVI, I know you can filter out what part of the vobs to encode.  I'm not sure of DGIndex can do that.

my brother has a dvd recorder and dvd-rw's but he can only record on them a couple of times until they become unusable... but they can still be used in my computers dvd drive... is it his dvd recorder which sucks? he bought it long ago in the very beginning when dvd-recorders started to appear.
You can use DGindex to select and extract parts of the m2v and ac3/wav streams. Of course this will create a d2v file at the same time but you can delete that afterwards. Once you've got all that just burn the files onto a cd or dvd as a data disc and send it to Nate.

i dunno ... maybe it's bad media. you have to make sure the media is compatible with the dvd burner (usually the only way to find out is to try it out).

What brand of media and what brand of recorder?  Because my recorder (I use TDK discs and have a Panasonic recorder) works fine for recording over and over and over again.

I also have a PANASONIC DVD.. And I think I have the same one as you SiR.. And two different TDK RWs but my DVD can´t read the disks =/ wich modell do you have? Maybe I should buy a lots of them if I can´t find them here in sweden..

I'm fairly certain nate bought you the same model I have.

BTW, are you using +RW or -RW?  Because it can only record to -RW.  +RW will not work.

Yeah, the box is a bit confusing.

DVD+RW supported!!!!!! (Not for recording though.  Sorry sucker.)
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Couldn't you just buy a DVD recorder with a built in Harddrive?  That way you can record to the HDD and once you've got the finished product burn it to DVD.

I bought a DVD recorder off ebay a week or so ago (120 GB HDD in it); should be getting it soon.:-p
Fucking Weeaboo
Of course you can, but it's gonna be more expensive.

But still worth it...hopefully (otherwise I'm out $180; and that's for a refurbished system). Tongue
