Hey all! I've been playing Star Wars Episode 1: Podracer for years, and have gotten back into it recently. I see that many people have done individual track runs for SDA ( http://speeddemosarchive.com/EpisodeIRacer.html ), but I'm interested in doing entire new save file 100% runs through the game rather than individual track runs with an already upgraded character. I think doing start to finish runs could really make E1R an interesting game to run, as 99% of runners exclusively use 1 or 2 racers in lap / track runs and the shops cycle on a seemingly random pattern, meaning each run would depend on buying parts intelligently, getting consistent track wins, and picking a racer based on the ones you have unlocked at that point. If I were to start a new category to run a game like E1R in, how would I go about this? I'm planning a test run later this week.

By "100%", do you mean just running the game from start to finish, or do you mean it in the SDA way ? Because in that case it would have to be discussed as to what counts towards 100% definition for E1R, and if it even makes sense for this game.
(I'm just asking because you are new and may not be used to the terms/vocabulary here ;))

Beside the point above, there is really nothing else you have to do other than running the game and submitting it here. I don't see why your desired category should not be allowed here, so once your run is verified and accepted here, the category will be added to the game page.

More info about categories, if you haven't read it.

If I were to run E1R, the way you're thinking about running it would be how I would want to go about it.  The 100% category would probably just be to win every race, assuming my memory serves on how everything is unlocked.  IMO it should be timed in real time because one of the best ways to get really good equipment early is to buy damaged stuff from the junkyard and race clean (which you really should be doing) so that it gets repaired; and that means out-of-race stuff is variable.  I'm definitely interested to see what comes of this, and might even be able to help a bit with planning.
