I've been practicing speedrunning for a while now and I recently heard JoeQuake is the version that all the speedrunners use. The question I have is why do I lose speed when I'm hopping only in JoeQuake. When I use other versions like regular quake or ezQuake, when I am hopping and buffering jumps, and only holding the jump key, I maintain my speed 100%. Although when I am playing using the JoeQuake client, if I have 500 speed, and jump, I will just lose 25 speed for some reason. Is this expected? or am I missing something?

Thanks for any pro-tips
Thread title:
ezQuake has altered the physics of Quake; you're supposed to lose a tiny bit of speed every time you bunnyjump. You can reduce the amount of speed you lose by utilising +forward tapping, as mentioned in this guide: http://quake.speeddemosarchive.com/quake/bunnies.html
Thanks man, that was helpful!
