Last year, before sgdq 2013, there was a roundtable where there were several announced developments for sda. If I recall correctly they included a site redesign, the implementation of a database system, and changes to verification. While it seems the changes to verification have been made, not much has been said on the others. I feel that they've almost been forgotten. If you could give the status of these changes, that would be greatly appreciated. Its been a year, so I am kinda disappointed that they haven't been able to be implemented yet.

Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
The database system has been "coming soon" since 2006 or so. I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

HELLO!
Ehh I don't think that's fair  The verification workflow has been completely re-done with a new backend, and that seems to be working really well.  Having done submissions the old way and the new way it's a night and day difference.

It does, from an outside perspective, look like AGDQ is sucking all the air out of the room and holding back SDA development, but that's just outside speculation that may be completely wrong.

I said the changes to verification were made, so I'm confused about what you're trying to say here. I asked about the other things. Just a little "This is what we said we would do, this is what we have gotten done, this is next on the priorities" etc. would be nice to see. That is all.
HELLO!
My reply was directed to Manocheese sorry.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
It's true that the submission and verification systems have been improved, but we're still waiting on features (like clicking on a runner's name and seeing all their runs) that have been discussed for as long as I can remember. I know it's a lot of work to build a database system and enter all the data, but it would be nice to at least get the kind of update MG2 is talking about.

In a single sentence, that's essentially what's going on here. The significant increase in submissions in the past year or so hasn't helped in clearing out staff time for this either. A more thorough response will follow after the staff meeting this weekend.
I kinda feared that what presj said was the answer, but this sounds a bit worse than that. Thanks for being open about it.

Any word on this?
I'm confused as to what happened to the response.
Response probably got eaten by AGDQ just like all other developments.
.
Dave has been busy with preparing for his Masters exams. SDA database development is primarily halted due to a lack of someone willing to tackle the beast that is 'SDA 2.0'.

You could draw straws. That is the best way to decide this sort of thing.

Come on, let's use a gaming solution for a gaming site.

I'd love to take a look at least.  What are the known problems? Is it a data entry problem?  A code design problem?  Is there a codebase on Github or something with the work in progress?
As has been said, preparation for my finals has prevented me from doing SDA work in the past week.

We are currently in the process of creating an internal feature list that we, as Staff members, would like to see in the SDA redesign, and working out the necessary requirements for implementing them. In about a week's time we'll present that in a hopefully cohesive way to the public to get some feedback on our vision as well as to facilitate additional feature ideas and input from a wider audience. Based on that, we can hopefully construct a precise idea of the back end necessary to allow for both easier administration as well as a dynamic user front end for browsing SDA which we can then start to develop with some actual direction. There is currently no timeline for the project as we're still gathering the necessary information, but if possible I'd like to start on extending the current queue system at the end of the month.

I hope that once we have developed both a coherent, complete vision of what the new site should be like and working out the requirements for implementing them the project will look more manageable than it currently is. As said before, expect a proper public discussion on this in about a week, so if you have suggestions or ideas of any kind that will be the time to make them known.
HELLO!
Sounds great, thanks for the information.
