I have done the speed run a dozen times in dosbox, which now i know isn't accepted here. The game does run in windows but for some reason if i run it in windows the sound doesn't work. Would it be accepted without sound?? Also, I want it to be a single segment but FRAPS makes it into more files once it hits around 4gigs. Is there anyway to fix that?

Speed is everything!
Hi and welcome to SDA, you can join those files with a video editing program.
In the Knowledge Base you can read something about splitting/appending videos.
Oui!
Thanks for the welcome and links, can my speedrun be accepted without sound?

No I think not, you've to find a way to record with sound.
But I think some other guys who know more about that can help you. Wink
Never give up!
I doubt it would.

Have you tried using VDMSound?  It's basically a program that can make up a set of 'virtual' drivers that DOS programs (am I right in saying that the VGA version of Quest for Glory 1 is supposed to be a DOS program?) run in Windows XP can recognize.

It can't be used to fool around with the video speed, so I think a run that used VDMSound in order to get the sound working SHOULD be acceptable.

Thats most likely becauseyour HDD being formated in fat32. So unless you record it on a NTFS formated HDD you are out of luck.

Well i fixed the sound problem, all i had to do was disable voice\sound and change soundblaster to Midi. Now all i gotta do is figure out how to kill the troll inside the bandit tunnel... cause for some reason in dosbox hes super easy but running the game in windows hes really freaking hard :{

  Actually, even on a NTFS, you will still get file splitting, because the .avi container doesn't allow for files larger than 4g, and FRAPS uses .avi, so he's gonna have to append them regardless.  Switching to NTFS is a good idea, since it is the better format by far, but it won't fix his problem.
Oui!
Anyone know why Fraps won't record while im playing it in windows but does record while playing it in DosBox?
