Quote from Relomy:
"Some demos were corrupted so they had to be left out of the results. Andrey Kulsha's keyboard demo has to be viewed with Bengt Jardrup's engine."

Maybe the first sentence has to do with your other one.
The last sentence is about my 0:11 demo I think. Nevertheless, it's quite strange since the demos are played fine at least with glquakebjp, which AFAIK is allowed in SDA, you may check it as both demos are downloadable (the links are given in my previous post).

And, you see, I asked here to check if they are ok:
http://speeddemosarchive.com/forum/index.php/topic,10286.msg292766.html#msg292766

If I had known that demos were somehow corrupted, I would have tried to solve the problem (maybe with Bengt Jardrup's convdem utility), the more so I would have had a lot of time for this.

But no one said nothing, so I was sure the demos were ok. Huh?

It's not. Only the official id .exe's and JoeQuake are allowed.

People sent 2 million demos overwriting their old ones. Of course I missed something in that chaos.
I was thinking while writing the update that maybe Bengt Jardrup's engine was unallowed. Then I just checked the rules of the contest and didn't see anything mentioned about engines. I think we must mention it in later contests but this time I say it will be accepted.
Okay. Just as Stubgaard said, only id exes and joequake are allowed. Rules are rock solid. I am sorry that things turned out like this. I wish you good luck in the next contest.

Is there an info about that in the contest rules? Moreover, when there was a contest on waterways, my glquakebjp demo was admitted.

Then please remove my crappy 0:11 demo from the tables.

I think it's good that such a problem appeared with the demos close to the bottom of the table. There would be much more questions if there was a winning demo, huh Grin

Standard SDA rules apply to every contest, apart from what is specified for the actual contest. It's always been like this. Maybe we should make it more clear next time.

The waterways contest was run at a time when I was absent from SDA, so it was probably just a little unwareness by the staff at that time. It won't happen again.

The winning videos can be downloaded/viewed from here:

NEW CONTEST

The Shambler's Cube

This map was posted on the SDA forum years and years ago. Demos were also made on the map, but somehow it drifted into oblivion, and the demos as well as the map were lost. Luckily Mathias Thore still had the map lying around on his harddrive, so let's inject some new life into this short little gem of a map. The map in question is The Shambler's Cube, made by Droog Andrey.

  1. This contest will end Midnight CET, Thursday, October 1st, 2009.
  2. Send your demos to quake @ speeddemosarchive.com
  3. Name your demo and the accompanying textfile in the format cube_eh/nh_playername.dem/txt. Someone named Clyde may send in cube_eh_clyde.dem, for example.
  4. Download the map by clicking on this link: www.speeddemosarchive.com/quake/maps/cube.zip.
  5. QdQstats (www.speeddemosarchive.com/quake/tools/qdqstats18.zip) must be used to get the exact time.
  6. The Easy 100% (skill 0) and Nightmare 100% (skill 3) are being contested.
  7. Standard QuakeSDA rules apply: www.speeddemosarchive.com/quake/rules.html
  8. Hint: You exit the map by rocketjumping into the roof in one of the corners of the map.
Thunderbolt Forever :)
Wow, my map :-)

You could ask me for it. I can provide some old demos and the source.

That's not neccesary, but thanks :-) I would like for everyone to be on equal foot when running the map.
Thunderbolt Forever :)
These old demos wouldn't fit anyway, since none of them use QdQstats 1.8. I think they were recorded yet before the release of v1.8 Smiley

The Nightmare 100% saw Basil de Vries claiming the grand prize, with Damian Kulot and Flavio Quadros not being far behind. Well done all of you.

You did not recieve my demos? It is not the first time... Maybe it could be a good idea to put again the "Automatic replay"

No we didn't, but I'd be happy to add them to the tables if you send them in again. Did you use the normal Quake address, or did you use the contest email? We've had issues with the contest email not arriving several times before, so now we're only using the normal email (as it also clearly states on the contest page).

Did you mean "automatic REPLY"? ;-)
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Yes, it is an automatic reply... maybe the computer could replay, then replies it replay.

I also send again my contest demos to quake mail. I did not remember the address I send the demo the last time, but I might have send it to the old contest mail.

However I did not understand, why the contest mail did not work, and the usual quake mail has less problems?

Yeah, I don't know either.

Anyways, I've updated the tables with your demos. Thanks for sending them in.

In 2004 the times were 0:04 (EH) and 0:06 (NH), but I forget who was the runner %)

Heh yep, it was Connor! http://speeddemosarchive.com/forum/index.php/topic,135.0.html

Of course, the NH is recorded with some strange progs.dat... Also this a typical Connor feat Smiley Cool to see his old demos.

Hey Ho Let's Go
NEW CONTEST

[i]sm48_czg

This is the first map to be contested in our new 2009-2010 Championship round, and it's also our first 'collectathon' map in quite some time. We haven't decided on the total tally of contest maps yet, but a fair guess would be about 10 or so, it all depends on how creative we get...

  - We'll award each win with 10 points, 8 for 2nd, 6 for 3rd, 5 for 4th, 4 for 5th, 3 for 6th, 2 for 7th, and 1 for 8th.
  - If there's two or more diciplines being contested at a time, we'll award accordingly in all diciplines.
  - We'll let the contests run for about three weeks unless there's more than two disciplines being contested at a time.

  1. This contest will end Midnight CET, Sunday, November 29th, 2009.
  2. The map in question is a DM map by Christian 'czg' Grawert: www.speeddemosarchive.com/quake/maps/sm48_czg.zip
  3. This progs must be used: www.speeddemosarchive.com/quake/contests/progs/progs_sm48_czg.zip
  4. Use Maxplayers 2, Deathmatch 1 and Coop 0.
  5. Play on EASY skill.
  6. You can hit TAB to see the number of items in the map.
  7. Standard QuakeSDA rules apply: www.speeddemosarchive.com/quake/rules.html
  8. Name your demo and the accompanying textfile in the format sm48_playername.dem/txt. Someone named Fat Tony may send in sm48_fattony.dem, for example.
  9. Send your demos to quake @ speeddemosarchive.com

10 entries. Congratulations to Mathias Thore who claimed 10 points for taking the first win in the new Championship. He was in a league of his own. Taking second place we have Tom Nguyen earning him 8 points, and on third we have Rutger Baks scoring 6 points. In retrospect, it's fairly obvious that this wasn't the most fun map to run, and unfortunately it seems some of us ran out of time doing a proper demo (including myself), but the turnout wasn't too bad I think. Let's hope the next contest will be more fierce though.
