Here are some things I found that improve the look of Quake 2 when used. I certainly will post more stuff but here's what I've found so far.
The first download you should make to improve the graphics of your game is R1gl. This renderer from R1Ch.net allows automatic use of textures and models associated with Quake 2. Simple download and configurate. Make sure to configure the texture and pics format to .jpg so you may be able to use some of the other things I've posted on this thread.

The second upgrade that I am posting is a texture pack I found several months ago and I thought looks great. I definitely recommend downloading all of the textures because they add much renewal to the game's graphics.

Here is the zip file containing all the textures:

Now for the last piece of the puzzle, high def graphics renderers. These range from minor improvements to the engine to almost complete remakes.
Quake2MaX
This renderer is very similar to the original program however includes a RScript language which allows the creation of custom shaders. It is my renderer of choice.

Quake II Evolved
Developed by fans and Team Blur, this huge mod offers a lot of improvement from the original game. There are many changes from this mod. Before you download it though, have OpenAL installed to your computer.
Here is the latest release of the mod:

So there you have it, some cool graphic upgrades for Quake II. However I want to add much more to this. I am currently looking for JPEG versions of the original models so if someone here has a link please post it here. Enjoy!
