I love speedrunning and revealing bugs

Hello everybody. I would like to introduce myself as a new IGI speedruner. Malu05 posted here, that he finished the game in 16m32s. I really dunno how he could do it.
My recent times (I must count the "skip" of intro and the WHOLE outro in each mission):
Level 1 - 1:28
Level 2 - 2:00
Level 3 - 7:11 (under 7 in progress and definitely possible)

Are you interested? Any suggestions? How to move faster?

Is IGI now abandonware, isn´t it? It´s more than 4 years old and it isn´t supported by any company (developer, distributor).

Level 3 SUXX a lot
Level 4 done flawless (I dont know the time now xD)
Level 5 needs about 10 secs improvement
Levels 3, 5, 6 and 7 in progress now Smiley

Why aren´t you interested? Shocked

Well, IGI is a game not that well known. But if your run is good, people will watch it anyways. You could record one of your best runs ( level 4 ? ) and upload it to let us see how good it is, maybe you will get more feedback then =)

Id love to see a run of this game! its a bit older, but i still like to play it every now and then. Never have thought of speedrunning it though. That preview thingy is a great idea, maybe just use youtube or something. Good luck!

My research was very succesful Smiley

I improved level 1 by 3 seconds and it is possible to do it one more second faster...
Everything seems to be player-friendly to finish this run, but there will be lots of trouble with the last level...very long and many soldiers who have to be killed.

So level 1 - 1:24 (1:23 possible)

Tommorow I would like to upload something for you...

Level 3 is really amazing I think...It took me A LOT of time to achieve it Smiley

Nice level 3 run. It doesn't seem like you could do this much faster. Funny glitch that you found. Well, it could be a little more action-packed, but it's interesting, anyways.

The wide-open spaces don't lend themselves to "whoa-nellie" excitement, but excellent use of the glitch there at the end.
Good thing those enemies have stormtrooper accuracy, too, or you'd have been toast pretty quickly.
Would it do you any good to shoot out the camera that goes off as you enter the prison, or would one of the alerted enemies go and trigger the alarm anyway?
(Not like it would matter much, seeing as you didn't really make many stops or detours as a result of their presence.)

As an aside...Damn, I love the sound that AK makes.

I must say: I really dont care about alarm in that place Grin

I dont know why, but enemies behind that fence are so stupid...they cant shoot me even if I am right in front of their noses Grin

But now (in levels 11 and 12) they are much more accurate (I finished L11 with maybe 0,2hp ;D)

Could you tell us how many levels this game has? I guess level 14 is the last one. So, this woud be sub-1-hour for you run, if level 14 isn't too long. Well, we're waiting for the videos Smiley

IGI has 14 levels. And the last one is the longest one(probably). I will finish my run during this weekend. Wink

Edit: Level 13 done (5:21) and route for level 14 planned. My recent time in 14 is 8:58, but it is very slow. Very hard to play this one. Today it will be finished, i guess.

Mono for medium quality? I'd never even use mono for Low Quality, but that's your decision. But MQ should really be in stereo. The bitrates look fine and i didn't see anything wrong about your MQ and HQ video.

I will try some more settings to have better image quality...

I think you should do MQ in 320x240, increase little bit bitrate and use stereo sound.

800x600 is way too much even for HQ so as the bitrate. I'd rather increase audio quality and use H264 of course.

yeah i tríed that with MPEG4, DivX etc.
and on all those codecs i used, 320x240 with 600kBits looked better than 640x480 600kBits

But please dont forget when downsampling the video to use a 3x1 matrix, so any fonts wont look ugly. Not just removing pixels :f

VirtualDub has one filter that does it very good.
