My feelings on The Demon Rush
I know a lot of people have been curious about how much money we've had since AGDQ 2014 registrations, which is fair because the budget has dramatically increased since then, and it's good to be transparent about where the money has gone.

The spreadsheet is attached to the bottom of this post. If you want the hard and fast version, once reimbursements and ad revenue comes through, this SGDQ lost a little over 1.5k, but there's still going to be around $33.8k left in the budget.

The basic aim of this SGDQ was to buy equipment that would last us for future marathons, which is why more money was spent than AGDQ.

mini-FAQ

Q: Can you show specific receipts?

A: I can do it upon request, but I'd rather not show all of the receipts because there are a crapton. Also, I'll have to strike out the shipping addresses for online orders, since they display UA's brother's address, and I'd rather not show his address.

Q: Will you have to order a lot of this equipment again for AGDQ?

A: Yes, because shipping it back and forth would be a pain. However, the cameras (which were 5k) and the mixer (which was 3k) have already been shipped.

Q: There are a ton of computer parts being ordered, what are the computer builds?

Stream PC: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/mikwuyma/saved/NbgPxr

That does not include any of the capture cards: 2 avermedia c027s,  micomsoft sc512N1-L, and a decklink duo for SDI capture. I took the other SC512N1-L back with me to test on the AGDQ stream machine (it works).

Gaming PCs: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/mikwuyma/saved/zHtKHx

Ignore the part about the external DVD drive, we only got one of those.

BTW, this is the monitor we used, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236174&cm_re=asus_monitor-_-24-236-174-_-Product

It's a good monitor but it doesn't have built-in speakers.

Q: What's Linode?

A: Our hosting service.

Q: Then why do you also have cloudflare?

A: Because that's what got us off the DDOS attack at AGDQ 2014, and it's the only thing that's preventing another one. Cloudflare also does a great job of load balancing and we didn't have any problems being at server capacity during SGDQ.

Q: I notice there's an item paying for part of MisterMV's plane ticket, why him?

A: Because he's only tirelessly contributed to the marathons with his French restreams, which have raised a lot of money for us and helped us out immensely. It's only fair we give him a little back.

Q: Why are the projector screen and the ncix computer case order 0 dollars?

The projector screen was supposed to be shipped a week before the event, but never arrived and I was refunded (thanks to an incompetent amazon seller). My payment for the ncix order is still pending somehow, despite having used that card with ncix before. :-/

Needless to say I'm not ordering anything from ncix again. Angry

Q:What does Kari Fry and dwb mean in the side columns?

A: Kari Fry was super helpful during SGDQ and went out of her way to buy emergency equipment for us during the event, I made to sure to mark everything that she bought and I've since reimbursed her for everything she's bought (it was a little over a thousand dollars). DWB is equipment that Doctors Without Borders will reimburse me for. I have sent the receipts and I just need to wait for the reimbursement to arrive.

Q: Stanchion world?

A: Stanchions. We got a set of 4.

Q: Were there really that many fucking cables from monoprice?

A: Well I'm a platinum member for that order alone, and the entire shipment was 146 pounds so yes, there were that many fucking cables.

Q: Wait, if SGDQ lost money, does that mean AGDQ registrations will be at 75 dollars again?

A: No, the registrations will be more expensive than SGDQ, but if the conference rooms are covered/mostly covered (which is looking very likely), the fee will be 50 dollars, which I'd say is reasonable for a week-long event. We still need to cover costs.
