Think I'm going to throw up.. and I don't get motion sickness.. that's an impressive achievement.

.... when I say "an impressive achievement" I actually mean "really annoying".

Isn't there a book called. "Zen: The art of stillness while waiting for levels to load"... because there should be.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!

I haven't posted on these forums in a very long time, but am coming out of the shadows to agree with this. Can we get a moratorium on this sort of stupid crap? I watch speed runs to be entertained, not to spend 15 minutes on my bathroom floor.
Not a Zelda 2 refrence
Seriously, the run was impressive but completely unwatchable.

What the HELL are you all talking about? He barely moves around at all, and even then it's not enough that could possibly make anyone sick.
I HAVE NO GREETING
I don't think it takes away from the run at all. I found it more hilarious than annoying.

Impressive run, very impressive.
Yeah, I said it.
I just watched groobo's 13:06. My thoughts:

Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurobehavioral developmental disorder affecting about 3-5% of the worlds population. It typically presents itself during childhood, and is characterized by a persistent pattern of impulsiveness and inattention, with or without a component of hyperactivity. ADHD occurs twice as commonly in boys as in girls. ADHD is generally a chronic disorder with 10 to 60% of individuals diagnosed in childhood continuing to meet diagnostic criteria in adulthood. As they mature, adolescents and adults with ADHD are likely to develop coping mechanisms to compensate for their impairment.
Hey come on guys! Were you expecting groobo to stay still?
Nicely done Groobo.
If we were you, we would quit now.

I think they are referring to Groobo's run, not mine. I end up staying still as possible at the end of the segments, basically because i'm in awe that I got the segment done that well. Also, it helps for consistency if I ever needed to change a segment. I've been taking a break from the run because I had a week of tests (profs always do that for some reason) and I had a temp job to work this week. I might do a level or 2 next week, but then I'm gonna play Portal Prelude, and try to make a really quick OoB run of that, just to show them how broken their game is (that I haven't even played yet, but I know will have exploits that I WILL find).
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
i don't mind groobo's lift behavior ) for me the problem is that it was combined with low fps... it's really tough stuff for my brain to handle.
Lay waste to everything...but I still love SDA!
It is maybe a pain to watch the annoying moves in the elevator, but the run is still so goddamn broken that i didn't even cared about the adhd part in it. I just tried to find my jaw on the floor. I've never played this game, but i think i wouldn't understand the tricks/shortcuts in it, even if i played.
unemployed Dragon
i would aprecciate this run with the lift "scenes" cut out, THEN its entertaining!
These media players are brilliant nowadays. Turns out they have a slider bar or a fast forward function allowing you to skip through certain sections quickly without complications. It saves you sitting there getting annoyed or bored at a certain section of whatever you're watching.

Elevator parts were really painfull and they make like half of the video Cry
Wow so many complaints about silly elevator sections. Forget the elevator and look at the rest of the run.
His ADHD techniques helped him get a good flik and aim. that paid it off.

Amazing,  Shocked

Ur ADHD part was genius  Tongue
Speedrun: awesome!!!
Elevators: OMG and ROFL at the same time (less adhd would be fine, but after all it's a groobo speedrun ^^")

And thanks for mentioning me in your comments.

Entertaining run, Groobo! Looked very optimised too. I don't get what all the ADHD complaining is, your elevator antics were enjoyable and not not make me feel ill. The mechanics of this game look like a lot of fun, from what I could tell. I very well may get this game at a future date now. That computer voice was awesome throughout. Seems like this could be a fun Wii game...

Just a bit of an update on my run, I have been waiting to continue it to see if any new glitches/tricks arise from the Portal Prelude testing. It's amazing to see the differences in Portal and Portal Prelude. There are certain things that Portal protected against that Portal Prelude did not.

This video that HighFPS put out shows alot of glitches that I've already used for my old speedrun, but the one that interests me is the one on Chamber 9, which shows that it is the only level in the game that the elevator starts off above the elevator area, and how you can gain access to the part below it:

The only thing I can figure out from it, is how to make the map load the next level, with me being outside of the elevator, but it isn't useful in any way. I'm gonna keep exploring the map for now, and see if I can turn up anything, since it is the chamber I'm currently at in my OoB speedrun.

I'm seriously considering doing my own segmented run once I'm done with my current project (about 97% done atm). You'll see some competition soon.

Sweet. I like competition. :). I also was trying to make a new route for Chamber 11, but I have no idea if it's faster than the current route.

An aside - I appreciate the fact that the thread is "Portal (Source)" - just in case you were thinking it was the Flash version.

I found a game called "Portal" in my Amiga ADF-files folder. Smiley

I started up my Portal OoB Speedrun again. Chamber 09 is done.

very nice. I get the feeling this run will have less then a min of actual game play. At least if you don't count 19

Nice. Yesterday I was watching your previous 8 chambers. Then I saw that those videos were a few months old and I thought "why doesn't he continue his run?".
So your run is already 51 seconds faster? Amazing. Can't wait to see chamber 13-18. I hope you'll to get under 10 minutes (not sure if that's possible).
